Have a Waffle Iron!?

June 22, 2007

daviess

Ok, Im really excited about these waffles I made today. They are soo good for you and taste great. You can call them Omega-Protein, flour free, waffles :D

You will need a food processor as well, or some other type of machine that can grind.

Ingredients:

  • 1c Porridge Oats (or other Oats of choice)
  • 1/4c Skim Milk POWDER
  • 1/2c Plain, nofat yogurt (optional)
  • 1/2c Canola oil
  • 3tbsp flax seed, ground or whole
  • 2scoops plain/natural protein powder (or experiment with your fave flavour)
  • 2-3tbsp Splenda (optional)
  • 3/4-1C Water

Directions: 1.Put Oats and flax in food processor, grind to fine 2.Add Dry Milk to F.P, mix 3.Add Canola Oil and optional yogurt, Mix 4.Add protein powder,Mix 5.Add water until desired consistancy (a little thicker than pancake mix) 6. Spray iron with some fat free Pam, scoop in batter and cook 3-6 min (dont peek till 3 min!) 7. Now pick your topping, i use RSF margarine (v.low calorie, non-H, low fat) and sugar free syrup right now..but during maintance it would be fruit, low fat whip and maple syrup :D

*extra notes*

  • This batter can be made the night before and sit in your fridge even for a few days as there is no eggs in it that will spoil. you may have to add a cpl tbsp of water in the morning as in thickens more overnight

  • depending on what you decided to add to the mix, your thickness will range..so make sure you play with the water amount to get it right. it should “slowly” run off a spoon. not plop, and not really runny

  • like any waffle recipe, you can use your imagination over time and experiment with the ingredients..using different oats/cereals…flax oil….flavoured yogurt…different protein powders..and even adding whole grains.. depends on your diet goals.
  • If you like pre-making your meals, cook a big batch then freeze them in ziplocks. Plop them in your convection oven or thick-sliced toaster when you are ready to eat them..

enjoy and let me know if anyone tries it :)

A common struggle among women today is the acceptance of ones self; the desire to be happy with the reflection in the mirror, but to also be wanted and accepted physically by others. During this struggle it is hard to not give in, and to conform, to an image society shoves at you. By telling you the way you should look, or what is beautiful, sexy, or even feminine.

In many sports women deal with body image issues. Within themselves, as well as the public eye. There is one sport that is especially filled with criticism and judgment to the body. This is bodybuilding. One purposely puts themselves upon stage to have there bodies analyzed and picked apart. For women this competition can be especially hard. And this judgment of the body does not only take hold on competition day.
In a paper written by Marcia Ian she talks about women’s place in this sport, “In what other sport could a female competitor be expected to limit her achievement for fear of losing her proper gender?” In bodybuilding, or its counterparts, women can be marked down if they appear to “masculine”.

One of the counterparts to women’s bodybuilding is fitness and figure. Within this category a women is to possess muscle and conditioning, but is expected to appear more feminine and less muscular. A personal journey to get to this point can be both rewarding and very challenging for the competitor. A daily struggle with ones self; as well as with the people around them, including family, friends, and the general public eye.

My day~A pretty good day

May 3, 2007

daviess

Well today i was pretty good for food intake! Especially considering I have started to do cardio twice a day. My %’s are perfect! Now I just have to work on lowering the calories a lil more….

For cardio..

This afternoon after class I did some mixed, between the treadmill, eliptical, and stairmaster. Totaling 45min. And I just got back from an hour at the pool. 20min on the treadmill walking 3.0 on an 11% incline and prob about 30min pool leisure. I love the pool, so refreshing. It is also very good for my ankle it seems, which BTW is getting better since I wear a brace regularily.

My intake

Meal 1: 2 Veegan Eggs, 1 sml breakfast sausage, Yerba Mate tea

Meal 2: 26g Almonds, Coffee

Meal3: 2 Omega Eggs, 1oz “Fresh” Mozza Cheese, coffee

Meal4: 3oz Deer Meat, Spinach, Butter

Meal5: Celery, tbsp nat. pnt btr, coffee

Meal 6: 2oz Deer Meat, tsp Cream Cheese

Meal 7: 1slice 3gCarb Powerflax bread, 1oz cheese, tsp Mayo, Slices Green pepper

Calories ~1400, Fat 101g, 20g Net Carbs, 110g Protein **Keep in mind I am doing the Keto Diet

I just wonder, is snacking a bad thing? If it fits into your totals is it ok to have a small piece of something, or do you have to wait the 2-3 hrs so your body burns more stored fat?

So hopefully tomorrow will be even better :-) Im proud of myself for getting the macro’s on the head and getting cardio done twice, when I am soo damn tired. I cant wait till my fat burner pills get here. haha

I also have to take this month off mma training :( It is too hard on the CNS, and can hinder my progress. Oh well I am sure Id be brutal anyways with the low carb stone on. lol

Well Hello There

April 25, 2007

daviess

Thought I’d drop a quick line.

MY contest prep was going perfect. Then I went away from home for a cpl weeks, and struggled to stay on the strictness, and get back into it when I got home (don’t leave home when you are in Prep BTW…very hard).

So anyways, this is ok.. I guess. I would just have to up my cardio. But I still may have to pick a later show date, as my ankle will not heal! I rolled it last month, and if anyone has rolled an ankle before..they know it keeps rolling easy. I bought a brace which seems to be helping. but the big problem is I CAN NOT STAND IN HIGH HEELS!! Let alone walk :( The angle is brutal for pain. What could I do? Some sort of physio?

Well anyways, I am going to continue to train 5-6 days a week. And diet as well as I know how.. and see how I look and feel come June 2. If I am not ready for that one there are others all summer/fall.

I am really considering Keto for my contest diet. Any thoughts from people who have done this?

Well I am a few weeks into my diet now, and i fee like im gaining weight/fat. Hopefully not, and it is just muscle? I hope my metabolsim isnt messed up. We’ll see, mayb I will feel different by the end of the month. The cutting phase is hard for me, not that I got a waitressing job in the pub and being around so much awesome food especially! ah well a couple months should go by fast, hopefully I dont give in and do the self-sabatoging thing I find myself doing throughout my life.

I still have to order my shoes and suit. I hope I can pick faric from here, instead of having to drive a few hourse north to meet with the lady that is making them. I havent decided on a colour even. I was thinking black, but I read if you are dark haired to stay away from this colour, mayb I will go with a shade of green for my eyes, or a purple.

Next weekend is the Tiger Balm Tournament already!! I am starting to feel sick to my stomach :( .. the first fight must be the worst; because Id hate to feel this way all the time.

Well I wil let you know how it goes…..

My Martial Arts training is going awesome. Although my bruises are still very imenent, but its cool.

Im entering my first tournament next month in Vancouver, and am really excited.

There are nine different sparring categories! Im entering in grappling, and whatever else my trainer thinks I should/could do well in.

I’ll make sure to record the fights and put em up :D

I also need a new gym membership somewhere :(

Well, hope everything is going well for all of you!

Looking forward to tomorrow…

Anyone have any home remedies to help the muscle soreness, Ive been doing my usual..stretching, advil, protein.. but could always try somethin else.
