Starting to get back to normal.

Monday, March 30th, 2009

I’m pumped. Coaching is now in full swing that the spring season is here. I’m also able to do my whole workout in the gym without my functional brace. I’m still learning to strike the ball, juggle and dribble all over again. I’m being very careful moving around on the field right now as the grass and mud thing is not yet retrained in the proprioception bank.

I got my emailed cover photo today from the Arnold. I must say Musclemag did have the coolest booth that weekend. I at least could get near it without waiting in line forever. I’ve had fun with the photo’s especially with the co-workers and other people who are certain the whole thing was photo shopped.

Anyhow after being sick last weekend I tried getting back on track with my normal workouts this past week. Back to the PM cardio and the AM weights, time to get my weight down now that the rehab is just about done.

nothing like getting some type of stomach bug.

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

I’ve been chilling this weekend. I didn’t get out to coach and I didn’t get to the gym. I’m guessing one of my team players showed up to practice with something on Thursday. By Friday night I wasn’t feeling very well!!!! I have had plenty of rest and kept the fluids going but keeping food in me has not been easy.

Here’s to using this rest to refresh my goals for the next four weeks. I’m hoping to get some of my sprinting back down and do some non competitive ball work so when I’m coaching I can demonstrate instead of explain.

Rolling along slowly Oh and I’m a big dork I did the Arnold 5k race walk.

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Don’t laugh! After walking around the Expo on Friday and Saturday without really doing a real workout all weekend while in Columbus, I decided to be a race day sign up. As part of my rehab on the post-op ACL knee I’m still not able to run, but have been doing a lot of treadmill walking. I did get my ass kicked by a 70 year old, but I did manage to keep a pace just over 15:20 miles. Other than the PT on the mill, I really haven’t trained.

Ok after doing the Arnold, I have been really inspired to crank up my work in the gym. I’m also taking that over to my team when coaching. I have realized that with the whole knee rehab thing, I’ve put the rest of my body on autopilot. Now is the time to crank up the weight loss, push the chest and abs a little more! Here’s to getting up early now that DST is here and getting the weights out of the way first thing in the morning. If I have any free time in the PM that’s when the cardio will be cranked.

If I didn’t stop and say Hi to you while you were either at Starbucks or waiting in line at the Bodybuilding.com booth, I’m sorry. There was just too much stimuli around to stand in one place for long once my caffeine kicked in!

Not sure I want to shuffle around the Arnold expo?

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

I’m sitting around this morning debating if I want to shuffle around the herded masses gawking at the various bb.com sponsors, members, presenters etc in Columbus. As I wandered over to the Starbucks inside of the Nationwide Arena I spotted my first bb.com member in her red t shirt. If it was anybody on my friends list, I apologize for not saying hi, but I was enjoying my live version of Bartender. After getting my mocha, that had whipped despite asking twice for no whipped, I decided it was time to wander by the line to get into the expo. As I passed all the kids heading in for their various competitions I was amazed by the masses. I mean the masses from the church of the iron and those from middle Ohio. I compare this event to a day long WWE event. I used to work Steeler games and the Stiller nation game day spectacle has nothing on those that are in attendance here for the staring at the fittest and finest as they present for their sponsors. Needless to say as I was walking past the line that extended almost back to the food court complete with fit and wanna-be fit I almost got speared by the mascot from the fencing school on my way back for breakfast. Good news today is I don’t have to work! Yesterday I actually fit some training for my desk job into my trip here and ended up getting caught up in work stuff longer than planned. I guess I’ll have to bust out the camera to document my actual attendance here later today. That is after the Pitt Uconn game.

In case anybody of importance is listening. . . please plan an open activity zone for KIDS, think NFL Play 60 type zone who are not doing something structured. I’ve had a group of 9-12 year olds highjacking the elevator and running past me all morning.

Anyhow off to N. Market for  a while then to watch the game. Then maybe I’ll venture into the Expo while WVU plays L’ville.

I might be slacking on the posts, but I’m following the training plan.

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

I’m officially past the three months out phase. My new ligament is now regenerating on its own. My workouts are still right on. I’m ramping up the cardio so I’ll be ready for next month when I can jog/sprint.

I’m counting down to the Arnold thing weekend and incorporating some work into the road trip.
