Moving right along and when is it OK to suggest proper form at the gym.
Sunday, January 25th, 2009Ok, I’m slacking at the blogging and the workout logging here, but I am keeping it all in my moleskin pocket notebook. I’m moving right along with the rehab post-op protocol. I even bought myself a new toy, a slideboard. I’ll eventually move over to my soccer teams agility training, but for now it’s my way to work on my intial lateral movements.
I’m also getting to the part where I need to start doing my leg workout, machine parts, without my brace. The damn thing is giving me some major calf and quad cramping and also noticably effecting the muscle building in the restricted areas.
I still like my ice and the stim works to fire up certain parts of my quad, but being patient is challenging.
I hate Suday’s at my gym. It is officially everybody show up at 1pm when the place opens and clog up every machine. Plus there are all the people still on their new year’s kick showing up at that time.
Anyhow, I find it hard to not try and teach one of those people that are now showing up proper technique when I see them doing something so wrong that mentally my muscle that would be pulled by their technique begins to hurt.
In the middle of my chest work today while I notice on the machine in front of me one of those said female gym goers who doesn’t know how to work at the glute ext machine. Instead of adjusting the pad to the back of her hamstring and then extending, she is trying to extend from the machines entry point. Just looking at the overextension moment made my hip flexors hurt.
I was not sitting on the chest press doing a glute creepy guy stare down, I just was in that shaking my head position when I saw the extension go completely out of the normal motion range.
Here’s where I really don’t know whether it’s better to correct or possibly be labled the creepy guy. Please advise for future reference.
