not so in shape…

so today was day 1 with my trainer. i was excited and ready for a good workout! we started out with the body fat test which was WAY higher than i had expected. a whopping 25%. i guess its okay compared to the rest of the country. but the chart rates that as "fair" which royally bummed me out. i didnt let it get to me, i just wanted to work that much harder. :) we did a few assesments to figure out where my weaknesses were and any tight or uneven muscles. since i had worked legs the previous day i had some tight mucles in my lower body that he helped me roll out with a foam roller. (never used on before, awesome) then it was time to see how many push ups and how many pull ups i could do. ummmm, yah, none!! hahah i cant do a freeking push up or a pull up. so thats where we started…the basic push/pull routine. i did pushups on the bench and assisted pullups. it kicked my butt and i was tiiiired. haha the best thing is that i really like my trainer and i think he can really help me reach my goals. im meeting with another person on sunday to go over a meal plan and supplement plan to optimize all the hard work thats going to go on in the gym. time to get some more exercise toys for my house too. need a pull up bar and a new ball… oh the joy of getting in amazing shape!! i love it!!!

supplements??? help!

so i went today to go purchase some supplements and i think i did okay, i just wanted some other opinions on what to get aside from the sales guy! i wanted a protein supplement. one with multiple protein types tho. not just whey. thats better to have more right? degestion distributes them over time? this is what ive read. tell me if im wrong. then i was looking to get a gultamine supplement. i heard they are mostly all the same. is that right too? i have read great thingsĀ  about BSN Syntha-6. the guy at the place talked me into buying thier product. Maxmuscle’s High 5. the one main difference ive found between the two is that BSN contains micellar casein while MM contains potassium caseinate. is there a big difference and is one better than the other? also, the BSN is about 1/2 the cost of MM. please, any input is greatly appreciated!!

in the beginning….

well…today is my "day 1" of being serious and starting to bulk. i work with a trainer on friday who will hopefully give me a good baseline to start out at. the one thing im lacking is the knowledge about diet. and i know diet is everything. i eat very clean already, but im not sure when and how best to eat my proteins. if anyone has any advice for me or can help me out with what to eat and how (and what supplements work well) that would be awesome. wish me luck! here goes nothing! hahah
