Some advice from me

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

My legs have always thrown off the overall look of my physique.  This past year I gave real strong attention to not gaining too much weight, and to lengthening my hamstrings.  I don’t think my hams have ever really been weak, but I also feel like they were short and tight.  So, I made special effort to really lift up on them when I strethch, which basically means sticking out and up my butt.  Something that really helped in lengthening them was the yoga pose, downward facing dog.  So, my hams really did come out this year, my rear-end tightened up and my goal for next year is to zero in on it even more, especially that glute-ham tie in.  Futhermore, having lengthened hams like that really paid off in back training.  I feel so much more balanced.  There’s my 2 cents for the day!

I love my life……

The older I get, the more I realize the importance of faith in my life.  I used to be total control freak, with a direct path of my life mapped out ahead.  But I found that the more I mapped out, the less it happened that way due to factors I couldn’t control.  Now, I do plan for the things I can control, my diet, my workouts, my schedule (for the most part), but you cannot control everything, especially other people.  It seems like the more I let faith guide me, the happier I am.  I used to get all worked up over every little thing.  I have gotten so much better at not doing that.  It’s made me a better competitor, a better trainer, and a better person.  Furthermore, why let what other people do get you down, all you can control is yourself.  Leave the past where it is at, in the past.  Working at the YMCA has really taught me all of this.  Their character value system is amazing and it has definitely benefited me.  So, moving right along……

My latest and greatest thing is to do the "Cut Diet" from my friends over at Scivation.  Their products ROCK, check them out at www.scivation.com.  Cardio is going well, I love teaching my cycling classes.  Life is just pretty much normal right now, no drama.  Not that I ever let much drama in anyhow.  I’m just me.  Plain, simple and low-maintainence.  Just don’t get in the way of my feeding time!
