Happy New Year!

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Wishing everyone a good start to 2009.

Happy New Year!

What’s your resolution? I haven’t made any, but I’m happy that I haven’t had a single alcoholic drink during 2008. A solid calendar year without a hangover? Twelve months without that measure of drama that’s often (at least in my case) associated with a “night on the town.”

I had three drinks in 2007 and somewhere along the line I stopped. Actually, it was related more to weight loss than any problem with hangovers or drama. I read somewhere that alcohol has an impact on cortisol.

(Googles)

Ahhh!

http://www.mens-total-fitness.com/alcohol-and-weight-loss.html

“Alcohol also affects weight loss goals by increasing the hormone, cortisol, in your body. Cortisol actually breaks down muscles and destroys the gains you have made during workouts.”

And that was all she wrote.

I didn’t take any convincing to take a break. I’ll never say, “I will never drink again!” Not me. Not necessary. Probably counterproductive so far as increased temptation. But I’m certainly fine with saying, “Nah. Not today. I’m cool. Going to the gym and, hey, my waist line doesn’t need those empty calories.”

So, anyone want to toast the new year with a shaker bottle of Gaspari Nutrition’s new protein MyoFusion? I have some strawberry here. :)

No drinking? I know, right?

MuscleTech and BB.com’s 2nd Transformation Contest!

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

Contest!

I participated in last year’s contest. Placed, I believe, dead last. lol :)

There’s some drama associated with MuscleTech currently with “lawsuits” being passed out apparently.

MT has until January 1 to make a statement re the lawsuits in the contest thread or I’m going to have to give the upcoming contest a pass. Yeah, no loss to them, but I can’t understand why they would expect 100% happiness with and support of their company when they’re handing out summons or lawsuits to members of this community. Odd.

Here are my questions:

1. Has any non-employ/volunteer rep actually had to fork out money to defend themselves against legal action by MT?

2. Are the lawsuits actual lawsuits or merely summons (paperwork) sent out as scare tactics?

3. Has MT made any statements in response to this thread? Such as “Psyche! We were just messing with you!” :(

4. Does anyone else believe that someone at MuscleTech is thinking, “Damn, Brewster, you made the wrong choice in messing with the naysayers.”?

I’m thinking that maybe someone who had this bright idea at MT is getting an earful right about now.

Have you received a summons?

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

The season is here. Your holidays may differ, but the gathering of families and friends is something that I suspect is cross-cultural and all-encompassing at specific times of year.

I was born in the year of the Tiger. I’m also a Leo. And, yes, I do love cats. :)

Whether you’re a dog or a cat person, I hope you’ll all be surrounded by family and friends (and pets) who you love and enjoy spending time with during the coming year.

I’ll be heading to the buffet and then the gym momentarily but thought I’d drop a few words at the encouragement of my online mentor and BodySpace bud, Pixi!

Thank you.

My lifting is going okay. I’m currently dieting down from an all-time high of 200 pounds. I went on a bulk and that worked pretty well. Gained a bit too much around the waist and this morning weighed in at 190. I dropped the ten pounds since November 1. It’s a mild and not such a hurry diet that’s going on. More details later. The buffet is calling!

Buffet on a diet???

Fail.

I dropped the ball entirely on the Thanksgiving Challenge. :(

What have you screwed up?
