This made me laugh…

So I’m in the classroom and a student looks at my hand and asks, "What’s that?" I looked at my palm and replied, "Those are calluses. They’re from lifting weights."

The child, a second grader, immediately responds, "YOU lift weights???"

Oh, YEAH!   There’s one for the Self Esteem book I’ve been writing.

Or maybe a diary entry…

Dear Diary,

Today I canceled my gym membership. This muscle building thing is obviously not working.

Still, it made a great story for the gym and also for my fellow gym-going teachers. There are quite a few who exercise.

“YES! WHY, YES, IN FACT, I DOOOO LIFT WEIGHTS!”

To funny! Glad to see you are still with it. Keep up the good work!

I gave the kid detention until he’s 22 years old. HA! Who says being a teacher is stressful???

Seriously, it was cute. And, yeah, I definitely don’t stand out as a Mr. Universe type. :)

You should have picked him up and tossed him against a wall, that would’ve showed your buff-tasticness! Oooorrr…. not… ;)

  4. Bigal33 Says:

Curt, that kid knows nothing you are HUGE, BEASTLIKE and DIESEL. I agree with pixi, I would have b-slapped him…

  5. curt_james Says:

Pixi and Big Al, he’s, what, EIGHT!!!!?!!?

    How embarrassing would THAT be?

"Area Art Teacher beat up by 2nd Grader!"

    There’s a headline. heh :)

    (I COULD TAKE ‘IM!!!)

Hey, I took my old scale into school and weighed 188 today. There’s a sixth grader who stepped on the scale and weighs 193! Two of his classmates visited the art room, too. The one was, like, 110 and the other was 130 or so. So I was feeling diesel when his classmates weighed in, but not so diesel when the 193-lb SIXTH grader was there.

He’s on the elementary school’s basketball team. He was my student in 4th and 5th grade and it’s incredible how he went from a kid to this "monster." Definitely not a weight problem. The student has a muscle "problem". Ha! Not a prob at all.

In 6th grade I think I weighed 125 or 135 at the most.

My oldest is 14, about 6′3 and a size 14 shoe. He’s got me height. I’ll bet hes around 200…

  7. curt_james Says:

Size 14 at age 14? I wonder if that will continue to age 15.

I wore size 10 1/2 through high school, but wear size 11 now. Although I was 6′ at age 15 I’ve never had any eye-hand coordination. I ran cross country and track. Forget the basketball, football, baseball, and soccer ball. Wasn’t happenin’.

My little brother will be 16 in April, is 6′6.5" and has a 17 shoe…..

  9. GeminiJedi Says:

Oh, and 225ish, though it’s pretty much squish lol. At least he’s filling out some. Gonna try to get him to the gym with Adam and me this summer.

  10. curt_james Says:

That’s fantastic, Mrs. Trixter! :) Will be great for your little brother to have mentors live you and Adam! Same goes for Big Al’s son. We all need role models of people who are focused on changing their lives in a positive way. Awesome.

Hmmm. This blog entry has, however, CRUSHED my self esteem. I’ve got a 2nd grader who can’t see a muscle anywhere near me. A 6th grader, a 14-year-old, and a 15-year-old who ALL outweigh me. Plus the last two are TALLER than I’ll ever be.

Say, I wonder what that 2nd grader weighs. I’m sure he’s not 180… yet. I’ll bet he can out-bench me. Damm!t.

You’ll excuse me, I’m going to go cry now.

    :D
