Down to the wire!

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Well, it’s almost midnight here. I adjusted my Wednesday Weigh-in from the typical a.m. to advanced p.m.

Made it.

Pictorial evidence, fwiw:

The Enemy!

149? Sweet Jesus!

I stepped on the scale a number of times to verify that 149 was accurate. It was actually 148.5 without the socks. Ooooh, aaaaah!

I had about a pint of water today.

The BodySpace Fraternity?

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

I scribbled:

Did a juice fast yesterday and a modified juice fast today trying to get back to 151 pounds after my weekend feeding frenzy. Was hoping for 149 tomorrow, holding that for a week or two and then joyfully heading into a healthy bulking phase. Can you say bodyauditor?

Anyway, I don’t   see it happening. I’m setting my alarm for around 4 a.m. and then I’ll debate whether I want to do 4:30 a.m. cardio in an effort to sweat down to 149. But at 154 now, I don’t see sweating much away in the next few hours. I’m wearing two sweatshirts, one with a hood, a pair of sweat pants, and socks. Going to crawl under the blankets momentarily, but is hitting 149 really worth the effort? BAH! Guess I’m tiring of the low calories. It’s been 10 weeks. Can you imagine what 17 and 20 weeks of dieting must be like?

Nooooooooooooooooooooo!

And bodyauditor recommended Glad trash bags.

So, I sit here typing a new blog while wearing my Glad 13-gallon Tall Kitchen Drawstring Bag under my hoodie. Wtf? Is hazing even allowed here??? :) I’m expecting MsFitness or ChickenTuna to tell me to stand on my head next. No, that’d probably be more like something Bigal33 would do! :)

Very funny, Al!

154

Week six?

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Again?

What has gone before seems to have come again. BAH!

Week 6 saw me weighing in at 157 lbs.

Tonight I tip the scale at 157.5 after having dipped down to 151 just this past Wednesday. Son of a…

Still, the weekend is the key to the weight gain. I don’t see the weight dropping to 149 between now and October 31 unless Harry Potter and Hermione Granger visit the gym to pay me a visit.

On the other hand, hope springs eternal. Tomorrow I’ll hit cardio hard, eat nothing, slap on the sweats overnight, and say a prayer. Or a spell? Where’s Dumbledore when you really need him?

EAT!

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

10/23: 720
10/24: 1492 (Wednesday a.m. bodyweight: 151 lbs.) Week 9
10/25: 1500
10/26: 1493
10/27: 3280
10/28: 4183
10/29:

So, next to nothing 720 calories on Tuesday, 1492 on Wednesday, 1500 on Thursday, 1493 on Friday, and THEN?

Then Saturday and Sunday arrive and I go absolutely in-frigging-sane. Or so it would seem. What was intended to be a Carbapolooza Weekend turned into a family reunion eating frenzy!       A total of 7463 calories over the weekend. That’s just about what I had been eating in FIVE days. If I make 149 lbs. bodyweight this Wednesday I’ll be very surprised. Regardless, the eating was GOOD!

No, the eating was GREAT!

A sampling of the menu:

2 cups nonfat strawberry yogurt 120 cal, 20 g carb
penne pasta and grilled chicken at Damon’s
baked beans at Damon’s
tall beer - Coors Lite at Damon’s
roll at Damon’s
short beer - Coors Lite at Damon’s
Power bar - 240 cal, 43 g carb
3 large bagels - 290 calories each, 56 g carbo each
4 Thomas’ English Muffins - 120 cal ea., 25 g carb ea.
1 Wendy’s single cheeseburger, tomato, pickles, no onion - cal and g carb
Protein Revolution bar - 280 cal, 26 g carb
Lara Bar - 210 cal, 23 g carb
Mango Tango smoothie - 150 cal, 34 g carb
2 Protein Slam tube liquid - 100 cal each, 0 g carb

3 Rice Krispie Treats
3 Brownies
1 sloppie joe
1 hot dog
1 serving pasta salad
1 cookie
1 serving vanilla ice cream
1 small serving potatoes and sausage
1 bowl chicken corn soup

strawberry-banana smoothie 1/2 - 75 cal, 17 g carb
3 scrambled eggs
granola cereal 1 cup - 440 cal, 66 g carb
milk

I say a sampling as I may have forgotten some of the food that I stuffed into my face over the weekend. Like I said, it was a frenzy. Family members all cooked a meal or dessert for our family reunion. Oh, yeeeeeah. That whole fifteen hundred calorie scenario didn’t stand a chance. Not ONE chance.

Stepped on the scale. It sez 160 pounds. ZOINKS!

When’s the last time you went BUCK WILD    on your refrigerator? ;)

Salsa!

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Have I mentioned I love salsa? Low in calories, delicious, good for you!

(Googles)

Maaaaaaan, but the Internet can ruin just about anything, though.

http://www.answers.com/topic/salsa

And I’m talking about the food, but the dance is pretty cool, too. To watch!

I have two left feet.

Cross forum action!

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

I recently registered with the Animal Pak FORVM and posted the following intro.

heh :)

I saw “The Henchmen” logo and thought I’d name myself.

Just kidding.

Received the welcome message to The Forvm and thought I’d offer an intro.

What I do is represent the skinny side of lifting. Not my choice, but seemingly Mother Nature’s assignment for me. Actually, I recently lost 20 pounds of fat and dropped my gut from 37″ to 32″ by eating 1500 kcals a day, lifting three days, and doing cardio 5 days a week.

Consistent work equals consistent results.

I hope the same will go for gaining now without adding fat to the waistline again.

I’m also an elementary school art teacher - the most macho of jobs immediately following lion tamer, fireman, and Army Ranger, of course.

Interests include bodybuilding of any kind and any federation. My introduction to the sport was courtesy of the June 1978 issue of Muscle Builder and Power with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbu, and Frank Zane on the cover.

I’m a fan. I’m what my one ex girlfriend called a “bone biscuit,” but I love lifting and SOMEONE has to make ya’ll look hyooog. It’s all relative. Without the skinny people, without our fat brothers and sisters then those of you who proudly possess the zero percent bodyfat and 22-inch guns would only look ordinary. Thank us.

I’m 6′1″ and all of 150 pounds. Most I’ve ever weighed was 180 soaking wet. Top lifts have been 200 bench (with lift off and mighty bounce from chest), 365 deadlift, 265 ATTG squat. Most recently I was 170 pounds of “skinny fat” and chose to cut big time to remove that fat gut. I began that cut days after my 45th birthday this past August 2007.

Glad to be a new member of The Legion and The Forvm. Looking forward to reading and learning.

Curt

I’m going to add a BodySpace link to my signature in that forum, but I doubt that I’ll be visiting there too frequently. I have used Animal Pak and just recently finished a container of Animal Cuts, so it makes sense that I’d register with their online forum. And if you see my used Civic in the parking lot of the local Planet Fitness, you’ll notice the Animal "A" logo in the form of a window cling that came off the lid of one of their products. Univeral Nutrition has some sweet marketing techniques.

And what online blogs and fitness forums are you registered with? I also have a membership with MuscleMag’s online forum that I keep up with pretty consistently.

149 and done.

Friday, October 26th, 2007

What? I’m not going for less than that, but it’s been my goal for the past few weeks to drop to 150.

Square one.

It’s what I weighed at age 15 and I’d say that at my current 151 pounds, my waist is looking tighter than it did when I was a teenager. I’m certainly stronger. But, yeah, that’s not saying much. Tonight I deadlifted 225 for 10, 6, and 6 reps. That’s almost one and a half times bodyweight. Let’s see how sore I am tomorrow. Regardless, at age 15 I couldn’t pull my first weight set - a mere 100 pounds - out of the trunk of the car that delivered it.

In other news: I loooooove salsa.

151 :)

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Stepped on the scale this a.m. and it reads…

(drum roll, please)

150.5!

I should’ve let it be done at that, but nooooooooo! I step off and step back on moments later for the reassuring verification weigh-in:

151.5.

D’OH! So much for reassurance. :)

Give it another go and it reads 151 followed moments later by another 151. Success!

Again, the readings are illusory at best. They’re just not real at all because I was bundled up in sweats the past few hours and did more than an hour of cardio last night, followed by - no lie - fingernail clipping, spitting, etc. just prior to stepping on the scale this morning. Idiotic. Okay, but fun all the same.

A goal’s a goal and I hit 151. Going for 149 for next week and that’s my limit. Not sure if I’ll maintain that weight (or thereabouts) by sticking to my 1500-calorie eating plan for a few weeks or head directly into a healthy bulking phase. Regardless, BodySpace will be part of the plan!

Thank you to all the BodySpacers who have exchanged posts and offered that much appreciated encouragement, comment, laughter, and motivation.

Juice fast

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Today’s food intake amounted to three pints of orange juice for a whopping 720 calories. That’s 48 ounces of o.j.

"Between 32 and 64 ounces of juice is usually recommended per day during the fast," according to information found at altmedicine.about.com.

I did an hour-plus of cardio tonight. I’m sitting in two pair of sweat pants, a long sleeve t-shirt, two regular sweatshirts and a third sweatshirt with a hood right now as I try to coax a 151-pound reading out of my bathroom scale.

I was 153 for my last Wednesday Weigh-in and the goal is 151 for tomorrow a.m. It never looks good, but I’ve hit my goal every week so far. I was 154.5 tonight even after the 71 minutes on the Star Trac treadmill and eating NOT A DAMN THING all day, so…

Like I said, it don’t look good. I took an extra Animal Cuts pack around 7 p.m. and just popped a serving of MuscleTech’s Hydrazide. Those capsules were included in MT’s Shredded Stack, but as I’m not a fan of diuretics, especially, I only take them the day before weighing in.

Did it work? Dunno. I doubt that it hurt, though.

Stacked (doesn’t THAT just sound hi-tech?) the Hydrazide with a serving of Gaspari Nutrition’s Novedex XT, too. Think I’ll explode? No, I mean literally.

BOOM!

Man. I’m not liking these sweats. And I’m not liking the idea of doing cardio tomorrow a.m. if the scale says anything other than 151. The whole idea is to get back to square one which amounts to that 15-year-old 150-pound starting weight when I touched that first vinyl-covered concrete weight set. God bless Sears, Roebuck and Co. Yeah, it might seem stupid to be going backwards, but my gut was a 45-year-old’s gut. I prefer my teenage waistline even if it was accompanied by some 10-inch NON pythons peeking out of my sleeves.

Did I mention the sweats are sucking?

Hmmm. Wasn’t that Martin Lawrence who fell out trying to cut weight for Bad Boys while wearing a plastic sweat suit and doing laps? D’OH! Next stop? THE EMERGENCY ROOM!

Okay, not funny. Scroll down a bit. That was August 1999. Coma? Damn. I might take off these sweats. On the other hand, it’s NOT 107 degrees in my apartment and I’m NOT jogging.

What’s the dumbest fitness activity you’ve participated in?
