Trying something new..
June 12, 2009i am not one for writing about myself or bringing attention to myself if i can avoid it (LOL), but we are gonna try something new and put all the stuff that floats around upstairs in print. who knows, maybe it will help me out at some point or even better somebody else.
yesterday’s workout, trainer veered off course and tried doing things different from the usual workout routine. enjoy the variety every once in awhile. he started me off with Abs as he found out i hadn’t been giving them as much attention as they deserve
GUILTY! learned that hitting abs isn’t as bad when you start the day with them instead of at the end when you wanna puke. i think we did 5 sets.
Set 1: Decline Bench sit-ups- 20 reps
Set 2: Decline Bench sit-ups w/ 8lb ball- alternating c/l/r - to failure
Set 3: Decline Bench Oblique twists w/ 8lb ball- to failure
Set 4&5: Decline Bench sit-ups & Decline Bench sit-ups w/ 8lb ball- to failure
On to Bench Press! Drawing a blank on this, since i didn’t write it down & he loaded the bar. we didn’t go for max today so i think we did 3 sets @ 155lb to failure & 1 @ 135 to failure.
SKULL CRUSHERS!! always nervous about diminishing what’s left of my tiny brain. haven’t done these in a LOOOONG time. 3 sets @ 60lb EZ curl bar; only hit myself once-not bad!
One set of wide-grip pull-ups to failure. then too many people working in so moved to Chest flyes for 2 sets.
Dumbbell curls- one set @ 30lb- 20 reps ea side; didn’t think i’d get that many but once we start we don’t quit til failure. 2 more sets @ 35lb maybe 12 reps ea. my grip is bad; could have done more/heavier.
then trainer showed me some crazy ass piece of Cardio equip called the WAVE- what the hell is this thing? http://www.technogym.com/cardiowave/default.asp?pc=0&lng=2 he tried to show me how to use it but i am inept. i was on it for 2 mins & it kicked my ass- could feel it immediately & he wants me to go for 5 miles (about 20 mins) MEDIC! will try out tonight when i havent’ been beat up for an hour!
finished up the session with 2(?) sets or Tri extensions on machine; i hate the grip on that damn thing, but i do it and take it like a man.
session over, i completed my day with 3 sets of shrugs w/ 180lbs of plates
so that was my day at the gym.
Today i will give the Wave a try and probably the treadmill as well. hit my bis & tris again today- nothing too crazy, just give myself a lil pump
maybe throw in some Smith squats, and of course i will hit my abs as well
