Yesterday was the end of my easy week, finishing up with an easy 4 miles @ 34:46. The rest of my plan calls for me to run 4 days a week but just adds an easy run on Friday, so I think I can manage. I started looking at some 5K’s in my area. :0 Just looking at them made me a little nervous.
The trail I use for my long runs is an old railroad track that has been converted into a running/walking/biking trail with several places where the roads cross over. Yesterday there was a fresh dumping of garbage. Someone had dumped tree cuttings from their yard and some old fence of decking! It seems like every time I run there is new trash. Last week it was a condom box and a 5 hour energy at the head of the trail. ooh! The thing that makes me the maddest is the fact that the dump is literally 1/4 mile from this trail!!! Now, I’ll admit…I’ve dumped my own garbage there…but mine is all mental garbage. About a month ago I decide to take a flower to every long run and plant it along the way. I have alot of flower beds that are always in need of dividing so I decide the trail would be a good place to put them. I guess I’ll go to the Chamber of Commerce today and see what type of trail maintenence they will allow me to do.
P.S. I faxed IFP my 5K plan and she is going to finish it with me!!! Now that is a friend! (:

12 weeks ago I decided to start using a training program off the Runners World web site to just help me have more focused running and to be "able" to run a good 5K. At the time, I didn’t plan on actually running any 5K. Now, however, I think I am going to run some in the spring and see what it’s like. I have 4 weeks left on the plan and then what??? Do you start another plan over or do you just run several times a week? I have been really fortunate, in that, I haven’t had any real injury or chronic pains, so the ole body/joints has held up pretty well. And the ice baths after long runs has probably been helpful, can you believe as miserable as those were, I actually started lookin forward to them after my long runs??? Like I mentioned, I still have 3 weeks left, including two 9 mile and one 10 mile run so I’m just begining to wonder about the future plans. Anybody who has been running and competing for awhile feel free to offer your opinion. Also I haven’t carried water with me on my long runs and the trail I run on has no facilities…how do you carry water?? I tried my camelpak but it moves way too much. I think I have one of those ball caps that you put 2 beer cans on each side……I wonder if that would work??? (: Happy running and lifting!

So the affiliate was closed on Tuesday because the jujitsu instructor hurt his neck but no body bothered to call to let us know. So, there I was uncomfortably ready to go and no where to go!! I did FGB at my place Wednesday morning…I have no idea how well I did because it’s just to difficult to count and lift. Thursday morning was another 4 mile easy run. I ran 1 1/2 miles on a road I have mapped out for distance and then I just decided to run for 40 minutes wherever and not worry about exact milage because I knew at 40 minutes I would get at least 4 miles. This morning I went into the gym to do the WOD subbing hang power cleans for the snatches ’cause i still can’t do those. I subbed jump rope for running since I’m running 4 days a week already. Round 3 my 2$ Wal Mart jump rope breaks. I guess Wally World’s shoddy craftsman ship couldn’t withstand my lightning fast jumpin’ skillz! (: So I grabbed a bench and did bench jumps. I used to have to jump up on the box and the take a step down one leg at a time. Now I can get a pretty good rhythm going for about 10 or so jumps. That is definitely an improvement for me!

It’s always interesting to me to hear how other people describe me, especially if it’s someone who doesn’t know me very well or is just getting to know me as opposed to someone who has known me awhile or knows me well. So, what are 3 words or qualities that my real friends would use to describe me……
FUNNY-I can almost assure you that every one of my friends would use some word like funny, quick-witted, joker, teaser, humorous or something to that affect.
VIBRANT-passionate, full of life, adventurous, energetic, always ready to go!!! I love life and I’m going to live it out loud
#3….I’m not too sure about.
So, what about you????? How would your friends describe you?

I started taking NO-explode about a month ago or so, I had been taking SuperPump 250 but wanted to give NO a try since so many people take it. I noticed that every time I take NO and run, I get a stitch in my side which I don’t remember doing with Superpump. The directions on No-explode say DO NOT SHAKE so I’m thinking maybe that includes me…and trust me there’s alot of shaking going on when I run! Anyway, as soon as the NO runs out, I’m going back to Superpump 250! It tastes way better and seems to work better for me.
Yesterday it was raining so I did my long run on the TM, the last time I did a long run on the TM was 4 miles so 8 seemed like an eternity!!! In real time though it translated into 74:12. Talk about mental exercise….BORING! Then I did the WOD which was 25 inverted burpees, 25 pull ups and 25 regular burpees for 5 rounds!!! OMG! I hope your happy OKC! I can’t even begin to explain an inverted burpee, you’ll just have to go to the Crossfit website to check it out. I did a burpee/pull up sandwich and then practiced my inverteds after. Let’s just say I met my laughing and cussing quota in about 20 minutes. This WOD was a KILLER! Today is an easy week on my 5k plan, I run 4 miles three days this week. Even though I ran 8 yesterday I want to stay on track so I set off early this morning to give me max time to recover for Fight Gone Bad tonight. The weather was almost perfect, 54 degrees no wind and partly cloudy. I read somewhere that more PR’s are set at a temp. of 52 degrees than any other temp.?? Needless to say I did not set any PR"s…I ran 4 miles on the road for a time of 34:03. I was all finished and putting my under armour back on a my new favorite song popped up (Rich Girls-The Virgins) so I left the stopwatch off and ran FOR FUN!?! Did you just read that Sonja??? For fun! Then Daft Punk’s-Around the World came on so I kept running and then Hooligan-Big B and the song that seems to make it on every playlist I have Hoobastank-Inside of You!!!! I have no idea how far I ran but it felt GR8!!! We’ll see if I pay for it tonight during FGB…bring on the carbs!!!

I worked all day Wednesday, so that was my "rest" day. Thursday was a speedwork day on 5k plan: total of 7 miles with 1600×3 @10:34 with 800m jogs in between. I’ve been wanting to add some hills into my training and FP told me to do it on my speed day so off to the tallest hill in the world I went. I ran a little to warm up and stretched a little and thought it was prophetic that "Who’s your daddy?" was playing on my Ipod as I set off, since I was telling the hill…."I’m your daddy!!!" By about the 3rd incline, with my heart pounding and respirations coming in a pant, I think I was whimpering, "ok, ok…you’re my daddy!" Man, it was tough! I did finish though and timed the last mile at 10:56. How??? There was a 5 mile race to the top of the 1,999 ft. hill but I already had plans, so Maybe next year. I came home and recooperated a few hours and went to the gym for a CF WOD. I did do push ups and pull ups but not push ups = to my BW. I used about 3/4 of my BW. Thursday evening was my sisters night. We ate Cuban food and played cards and did alot of laughing!! Friday I went to the gym in the AM and did a pull up/thruster WOD. 10 of each going for 20 minutes for a total number of rounds. I didn’t use the RX’d weight for the thrusters..I only used 45#. I did a total of 8. Then that evening I did the running/squat WOD. Run 400m do 50 squats. I really wasn’t looking forward to this one just because my legs have been trashed all week! But, my buddy, DOCDRU, "encouraged" me to do it and I really would have liked to beat his time. But I finished in 13:37. ): Saturday, I got up at 5 to drive my son and others to a take down tournament. It was fun walking in with him and his newly aquired red and black mohawk. (: I know some parents probably disagree with kids having crazy hair and clothes but I like to let mine have as much freedom of expression as possible without having any permanent negetive consequences. My son placed 4th out of 25, which i thought was pretty good, he , however did not think it was very good. We drove home and had time to shower and head out to the MMA fights where the wrestling parents were working the concession stands. The fights were pretty amateur. One of my sons Dad decided about 6 months ago that he was going to fight. He was a boxer in the marines but hasn’t fought in years and is now 40 years old. I was SO IMPRESSED, he worked a full time job, is working on opening a new business and trained almost daily. Then he got in the ring and pummelled a 23 year old kid. It was so cool to see all the high school kids there to cheer for him and the look on his 16 year old sons face was priceless!! I know everyone doesn’t agree with fighting but just the dedication and determination that his sons and the other kids have seen him have over the last 6 months is valuable! Today I was supposed to go mountain biking with a friend but I’m whooped and it’s like 45 degrees outside. I hate cold!! Tonight is my 8 mile run but I’m thinking I may move it back a day…we’ll see after a long hot bath!!

I thought I was beinging smart by switching my running and WOD to the same day since I run 2 miles on Tuesday and the WOD was 800’s. And that probably was smart. The not smart part was when I dedided I hadn’t really worked my legs very hard weight-wise and made up the stupid little leg work out I did!! How could I forget how much walking lunges kill me??? I did 20 SDHP, walking lunges, thrusters, walking lunges, box jumps, walking lunges and GHSU’s for 5 rounds. I am so sore today!!!! So I started my "easy" 2 mile run and it honestly felt like I had concrete blocks for feet and the bounce, Oh the bounce was painful!!! I just hope I don’t have to pick anything up at work tomorrow, I told FrogPrincess that it would probably be easier for me to just lay down in the floor in that situation. (:

Todays CF WOD is Michael, one of the hero workouts. It is rounds of 800 meter run 50 GHSU and 50 back extensions. Since tomorrow is my 2 mile run I plan to combine the 2 tomorrow. Today I went into the gym and did a leg-ISH workout. 20 SDHP, 20 walking lunges, 20 thrusters, 20 walking lunges and 20 GHSU’s. I did 5 rounds hoping my legs won’t be too sore tomorrow.
