MURPH
Today’s WOD was a "hero" workout. Crossfit honors the fallen members of the community with a named work out and todays is named after Navy Lt. Michael Murphy he was a 29 y/o killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan June 28, 2005.
Run 1 mile
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
Run 1 mile
My first mile was 9:32 and my last was 9:46. In between I did 10 pull ups, 20 push ups and 30 squats for 10 rounds. I have to admit that I wanted to quit on round 7, this is such a grueling work out. But I thought about Murph and wondered how many times he wanted to quit and didn’t, I just couldn’t bring myself to dishonor his memory in my air conditioned gym, with a full stomach and all the conviences I have. Thank you for your sacrifice Michael Murphy!!

WTG CG!! It looks like a VERY tough workout and I like how you broke it down…I may do something similar to that as well!
Goosebumps as I read that its a workout for a fallen soldier…lump in throat…my baby brother is headed back over there…
O.k…this is good motivation! I will get it done too!!

Great Job on Murph! It’s a tough one but he is a true hero. If you ever get a chance read Lone Survivor, it is the story of his last mission told by the only survivor of a team of four Navy SEALS. Many of the hero workouts were fallen heroes from that mission and the ensueing rescue mission.

A truly worthy workout befitting a worthy Sailor and hero. Such support and honor will always be appreciated.
