I woke up this morning and after making every one egg whites and wheat toast, I checked out the crossfit home page…..5K run!! Poop! I don’t want to run! Every time I do my heart beats faster and my breathing get faster and I start to sweat. This happens everytime! (: (: I really decided to skip the WOD and do a more lifting type WOD and I did. I did pull ups/push ups/dips/push press in a 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 rep range in about 26 minutes. But then I decided I really need to start doing all of the WOD’s with out just picking out what I like. So after some encouragement and tips from FrogPrincess, I ran 5K in 29 minutes.

I know!!! That’s what I thought too when I heard it on the news this evening. A 19 year old "man" is suing the state because he has lost 100 #’s while being incarcerated for the stabbing and beating death of another human being!! Granted at over 400 #’s, the guy had a little bit to lose. Just the sheer audacity of a convicted human killer to sue the people of the state saying we aren’t buying him enough food with our tax dollars! The news report said each inmate gets 2300 calories a day from the 4 food groups. I guess we didn’t get the memo about not going by the 4 food groups thingy anymore.(: Now, a lawyer accepting this case?? Not surprised a bit!! I could really get off on a tear here thinking about 4$ a gallon gas and the seniors I see in the ER who decide every month between food or medicine or the 5 siblings who like school because "we get to eat there." but I’m not going to because…what good would that do?? What does this have to do with bodybuilding?? He has lost weight on my dime and he would’ve had to pay Jenny Craig good money to do that!!!!!!!

I think my neck/back/shoulder may be done hurting. I am so sick of not being able to work out like I want to! I’m not sure how my injury began..could be a kick to the jaw or could just be my occupation but regardless of how it started, every so often my upper back, neck, scapula on my right side hurts and gets really inflammed. An MRI, 5years ago showed some disc problems and another test showed nerve damage in the wrist and elbow. If it is really bad my elbow and wrist will ache and my right hand goes numb. I started a new type of workout a couple of weeks ago and wonder if that is not the culprit. I got trigger point injections on Monday and a sports massage on Tuesday, I’ve tried stretching, heat, motrin round the clock without much change. Finally yesterday it seemed to let up some. So hopefully I’ll get to do some lifting this week. BTW it really irritates the crap out of me that every time I have a problem with my back some goober always says, "It’s probably from working out!" ): They just don’t get it!!

My back/neck/trap/elbow on my right side were killing me on Thursday so instead of trying to do upper body work I ran bleachers and did some V-ups. I don’t know if the new routines are causing me to hurt and be numb in the right hand or if it’s just a flare up from the chronic neck problems I have. Regardless, I don’t wan to push it. I ran 5 sets of bleachers and 1/2 on the track to kind of warm up. Then for the actual work out I ran up/down the bleachersx1 and across the seats to do another set of bleachers and then around the track (400 meters). I did this about 10 times. Today I felt a little better so I tried to get back into my Crossfit work outs. I was going to do handstand push ups but I could only do 3 and they weren’t very good so I did push pressx20/sumo squat with an upright rowx20/burpeesx20 for 5 sets. I love doing this type of work out because I was done in 18 minutes and had done lifting and cardio!! I’m hoping to get a mountain bike ride in tomorrow so I don’t know if I’m supposed to do my Crossfit work out or just consider the biking my work out???

I know, as a woman, I’m supposed to get excited about new shoes and clothes but today I’m excited because I got a new pull up bar and jump rope!!! (: My husband has been hearing me talk about pull ups for months now so yesterday he suprised me by making one and putting it up in our carport!! How romantic! I bought a jump rope the day before and practiced with it yet yesterday. I started doing a new type of work out this week which calls for alot of pull ups and ropes and running and other stuff that ZI don’t have or am new to. I’ve been practicing olympic lifts, which has been interesting and entertaining. I think I finally got the clean down yesterday! Yesterdays work out: warm up=practice cleans. Bench press 10/wall ball thrusters 10/deadlifts 10/jump rope 2 minutes. Repeat in descending order ie.9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Happy Friday!!!!!!

Total work out was done in 20:00 with about 1 minute rest in between 10-9-8-7-6 then 30 sec. in between 5-4-3- and no rest from 3-2-1. My weight lifting and cardio are done in 20 minutes and my arms feel SO HEAVY!!!

Rest about 1 minute and repeat for a total of 4.
2nd Tri-set=2O walking lunges with overhead BB press/running step-ups on 24" box/20 front squats with 2O# BB.
Rest for 1 minute and repeat for a total of 4.

The trails are still way too wet and muddy to ride my mountain bike so I decided Friday to ride around town. Which, to me, is more dangerous than any trail because so many people have no idea of how to act when they approach some one on a bike. (That’s a whole other story) My sons are leaving with several of their friends as I’m gearing up to leave and one of the girls made a comment on my gloves. My first bike wreck, (yes, there have been a few) was an over-the-handlebars type of wreck that left both hands pretty scraped. So, now I wear full gloves! (: Working in the ER, I have alot of little patients who come in after have bike misshaps and I always talk to them about wearing helmets. So, even if I just ride around the neighborhood..I put mine on. Anyway, I said, "I always put all this stuff on but….I HARDLY EVER WRECK." And off I go never giving it a second thought. I rode for about an hour and got a great work out. I’m pretty much done with riding just peddling around the high school to cool off some. I had one hand on my bars and was doing something with my other hand when I hit a crack in the road that jerked my front tire sideways which made my right hand instinctively squeeze. Next thing I know I’m lying on the ground. I got really quick, hoping no one would notice. (: The rest of the trip home I just kept thinking..I harldy ever wreck, dumb ass! Luckily, it was a good fall and yes, there are "good" and "bad" falls. I just scraped the elbow and knee, thank goodness I opted for the long pants, and the scrapes compliment the bruises I have from my rock climbing!! (:

Last week everything was going so good!! I started on a new eating routine (I don’t like the word diet because it has a negetive connotation for most people) and I got in all the workouts I needed to do. Mon-legs/abs, Tues-shoulders/calves/ran 4 miles, Wed-off, Thurs-back/bis/ran, Fri-chest/tris/calves/bike, Sat-rock climb, Sun-hike hills/bleachers. Sunday during my trek up the tallest hill in the world life started to get in the way!! I like to walk the hill behind my house when I can get someone to take me up. The "hill" is considered the tallest in the world because it is something like 1 ft. away from being a mountain. Anyway, the going up is great, the coming down hurts the knees. So I talked my son and his friend into dropping me at the bottom and they went to the top to goof off and play with their BB guns. So I’m 20 minutes or so into it and feeling great, heart is pumping, starting to break a sweat when I see my car coming down the hill with flashers on and a hand out each window, waving frantically! Like I might some how miss the big black SUV coming towards me. (: Long story short, Landon was loading his gun and dropped it. Landon has had lots of gun training and is a card carrying hunter safety course kid but instinct took over and he grabbed at his gun. BB guns nowadays are not like the Daisy guns of my day. The kind up pump-pump-pump and shot and then you run down to the target and hold it up before the BB gets there…..OK, maybe they weren’t that slow. (; So, we ended up in the ER for several hours that evening and are released to go home with the BB still in his hand. Monday, it’s Senior night for my oldest sons soccer game, meaning parents have to go out on the field with their kids. Then during his game a couple of players are going at it pretty hard and starting talking and bumping! Ends up being a fight clearing both benches and part of the bleachers, so I figure I’ve seen my first redneck soccer riot. My son, BTW, was on the oppisite side of the field when the fight started.. he just stood there looking for a minute and slowly walked around it to his bench and stood there. Tailor doesn’t get too excited! Tuesday we go back to the Dr. because I just felt "yucky" about Landon’s hand an hour or 2 later we are in the plastic surgeons office and surgery has been scheduled for Thursday morning. Wed. I get to work at 0630 and leave about 2000, the ER was so busy my new protien shake set in my locker all day!! Wed. night the storms hit tornadoes, up to tennis ball size hail, torrential rains and floods. We get up the next morning at 0500 to go to the surgery and it’s still storming..tornadoe watches and all. We finally make it there, the surgery goes well, the BB is hard to get out but the surgeon says he got it without any problems, we are now the proud owners of a 5,000.00 BB. I get home and look at my work out calendar I keep on the fridge and realize I worked out Monday and I know my new eating routine went out the window on Tuesday. ): Oh well, sometimes life does get in the way, but…..I’m not going to feel guilty or worry about it too much!! My sons hand is going to be OK, I made it to Senior night and I took care of the important things in my life and now…..it’s time to start back on that calendar and eating right!!!!!
