I ate a hamburger

Normally, I’m not so excited about eating and especially eating a Mcdonalds cheese burger, but after 3 days of drinking protien shakes and eating ice cream that burger was so awesome. I got a full set of braces and have a palette expander on the top so eating has been very difficult. I was craving some real, hot food so bad!!! After the footbal game last night we went through the drive through at McDonalds and I actually ate a burger.

I did arms at the gym yesterday. 21’s with a 25# BB, and they felt kind of easy. I don’t think my gym has a 30# BB so next week I may go up to 35# and do 15’s or something like that. I did dips with a 8# weight ball on my lap; these too are getting easier. For my next exercises I did cable curls with the cumbered bar (Is that the correct name??) 50, 60, 60, 70# and V bar cable press downs for tri’s 70, 70, 80, 90. I wrapped it up with spider curls (turned around backwards on the roman chair with arms hanging down) with a 25# BB and 2 handed overhead DB presses with 30#. I did 4 sets of each exercise and did the last set to failure on the last 2 exercises. In between sets I did ball crunches holding an 8# medicine ball and did front and side planks.

This morning I rode bikes with my girlfriend, Christy. We did a little road that she and her husband have nicknamed, King Ralph. It was a really steep long climb and I had to push some but it was some good cardio, I think she said 4-5 miles. It was alot of fun though! I may got to the gym this afternoon.

B-day

Today is B-day; the day I get braces. I can’t believe that I am going to turn 40 with a full set of braces!!!! It was good to be in the gym this morning after seeing how busy it is in the evenings. Today was shoulders and I threw in calves because they are rested now from biking this past weekend. I mixed it up a little from the past few weeks and started off with up-right row with a 25 and 35# BB for 4 sets. I moved on to machine shoulder press with 40# for 4 sets. I realized in the middle of the exercises that my mind was elsewhere and refocused. It is AMAZING in the difference I feel when I have a good mind/muscle connection. People, including me, probably waste alot of sets simply throwing weight up instead of really focus on the muscle being worked and squeezing. For my 3rd exercise I did reverse pec-dec 30# for 4 sets. Lastly, I did front raises for my front delts. 12# DB’s with a little inward twist at the end. I really feel like I can see a difference in my shoulders but it seems to be so difficult to capture on film. Calves are the same, they have definitely changed due to the increase in biking but every time I take a picture of them I just don’t see it. Oh well, wish me luck!! I’ll be drinking plenty of protien shakes over the next few days!!

Leg Day!

No, I don’t do legs in the striped socks. (-; I could not drag myself out of bed this morning at 0500 so I went in after work around 1800. I really don’t like going this time of day because it is so busy and it is more of a meat market atmosphere. I did lunges on a box with 30# DB’s. Front squats with 75, 85, 85 and 95#’s. Roman chair with a 25# plate. Finished up at home with my leg bands doing inner and outer thighs and kickbacks for the booty! I really feel like I can see more definition in my quads. Mountain biking has really helped in this area. I did ge to see a chick that I used to be semi-friends with tonight. This girl is going to the gym 2 times a day; at noon for an hour and then at 1700 when she gets off work for the past several months and now……she looks exactly the same. Ever see people like that?? In the gym day after day, year after year and never any change in their body?? That….is sad!!!!

Dreaming of Lunges

I went in to the gym this morning around 0530 to do back and chest. I had planned on someone meeting me there to spot me on some pull ups but suprise…they didn’t show. So I did 20 negative pull ups and about 100 pushups. Then I did lat pulldowns and incline flyes. BB bent over rows and cable flyes. Cable press downs (I really wish I knew the actual name of this exercise) and decline presses with a twist at the top. My most powerful muscle wasn’t really in it this morning, that being my mind. I normally just close my eyes and really think about contracting the muscle I’m working but I just could not concentrate this morning. Maybe tomorrow will be better. I lay in bed going to sleep thinking my whole lifting routine for the next day, so tonight I’ll be dreaming of lunges and squats!!!!
