Wanna mud wrestle??

October 6, 2009

I knew tha title would get you people…..perverts! Actually, I’m talking about my 6 mile run today that was more like a swim/mud pit/run. The run was nice and easy, the air was cool, and it was so much fun to run through those puddles! Kinda brings out the kid in ya…which is always just right beneath the surface for me anyway. (: The only thing that could have made it better was to have some one to splash with or maybe throw in the mud. Frogprincess72??????????

As RX’d

October 5, 2009

I love it when I can actually say that!!! It’s rare so it gives me a little thrill. (: Yesterdays WOD was 21-18-15-12-9-6-3 of  power cleans using 65# (cause I don’t want to be no pansy forever) back extensions and sit ups. My time was 16:16 as RX’d. Just wanted to get that in there one more time.

Should I really call it speedwork??

October 4, 2009

Probably not, really not all that speedy. (: But I still keep trying. Went to the track Friday night and it was peeeeerfect! Clear skys, full moon, crisp air with a hint of Marlboro Reds……gag, why do people insist on smoking before they get on the track to walk?? Anyway, ran a mile to warm up then did 4×400, 6×200, 10×100 and then 10 hills. Saturday I rested. Today I did yesterdays WOD. Run 800 meters, 15 pistols, 25 sit ups, 12 pistols, 25 sit ups, 9 pistols, 25 sit ups, run 800 meters. Time 4:ever! Ha ha! The pistols kicked my butt. I wished I had a pistol at one point!!

HELLen

September 30, 2009

Todays Crossfit WOD was Helen…..400 meter run, 21 KB swings (I had to use 35# DB) and 12 pull ups for 3 rounds. My time was 13:25 using the blankety-blank TM…it’s so annoying to have to restart everything each round. I thought about leaving it in motion but then I started picturing myself as George Jetson. =D

Weekends Workouts

September 29, 2009

Friday evening was a crossfit workout….10 squat cleans-50 GHSU’s, 8 squat cleans-40 GHSU’s, 6 squat cleans-30 GHSU’s, 4 squat cleans-20 GHSU’s and 2 squat cleans and 10 GHSU’s. 9:33 Saturday morning was Angie….100 pull ups, 100 push ups, 100 sit ups and 100 air squats. 15:36 Ran 6 miles Saturday evening. Mountain biked 10 miles Sunday afternoon. Monday’s Crossfit WOD was a favorite….20 minutes of as many rounds as possible of 5 thrusters, 7 hang cleans and 10 sumo dead lift high pulls..got 15 rounds but only used 45#. Thinking I may rest today. (:

My second 5K

February 15, 2009

I had the alarm set for 0430 but started waking up at 0300…don’t you just hate that, when you wake up every 15 minutes to check an early alarm! The plan was to be out the door by 0500 with three teenageers in tow. Not an easy task I would think on a Saturday morning, but they all set alarms and did it without Mommy! I have to say, I have a couple of great sons. They both took off work so they could go watch me run, without me asking them to. Then my oldest son worked until 0200 Friday night, which meant he slept for about 3 hours before he got up. I must have done something right along the way and being there for friends and family is a great quality for them to have picked up! The race is 2 hour drive and we went to check out the course on Thursday, while we were in the city. And  we drove the exact same road I was using yesterday, paying close attention to signs and landmarks so that when I drove myself….I wouldn’t get lost. Yeah, I got lost! Really, I blame FP and FNB, I saw the airport I’ll be leaving in 19 days to go to the Arnold and finally meet my buddies in real live person, so I was picturing the screaming and jumping up and down and screaming and hugging and jumping up and down and when I woke from my daydream, I was like, "I don’t remember a pawn and pancake hut." :) So, I drove on a little ways, to make sure I was lost and make sure I was lost GOOD, apparently. The race started at 0800 and I was right on schedule to be there at 0730 so now I was pissed and freaking out!! Ever notice when you miss and exit, that even though you’ve seen one every 50 yards for the last 50 miles, it was always the last one. So I drive and cuss and drive and cuss, I hit my cussing quota for the week in about 10 minutes so no more cussing this week..dammit. When I did finally find an exit to turn around on, it had a pay toll both ways! Threw my 2 quarters in the first one, no problem, threw my 2 quarters in the 2nd one a little too hard I guess and banked one! Aggghhh, get out another quarter and gently toss it in. We make it back to the interstate but now I’m going in the oppisite direction so I don’t know if I’ll recognize the exit. All 3 teens are awake now, for some reason, and the clock is ticking…it’s 0745. My oldest son asks me why I didn’t print off some directions but shrunk back in the seat and started rocking back and forth when I gave him the Mom, "I’m about to go ballistic all up in this MO FO look." We figure out where we need to be going, I use the "emergency vehicles only" median crossing saying, "Don’t ever do that!" and pull into the park with 4 minutes to start time. I stopped at the port-a-potty ’cause I’ve had coffee, superpump and water and power pee! The boys dump me out in the road and say, "Don’t worry about anything except getting there. We’ll get everything else." Which, silly me thought would include the camera." My warm up before for the race consisted of running to the start line and then running back to the chip table because they reminded us to have one on. My first race was not chip timed so I had no idea of how to use one and no time to learn. I just asked some guy, "Will you put this one me?" I never miss an opportunity to have a random guy kneeling at my feet! :D   Back to the start line and literally 30 seconds later the gun goes off! The only part I was worried about was getting out in the start but I had no problem. The run went well up until about the 3K mark, when my mind said, "Wouldn’t it be nice to just take a little break?" So, I go through my checklist….are your feet hurting? No. Are your calves tired? No. Are your quads on FIYAH? They are a little warm…..OK, ok NO! "So then let’s giddy up girl!!" I try to zone out for a bit by watching the persons shoes in front of me, which happens to be a boy of about 7 years old…yeah, I said in front of me. I hit the 4k mark and know it’s time to start picking it up so I start just stretching out my stride a little and then I see the finish line and about 2 to 300 yards out start to build up some speed until I hit mach super-duper hyper speed. Riiiggghhhht! But I did pass 10 or so people on the way there and feel like I could have kicked a little earlier which will be something I work on now. So, I wanted to finsih in under 24 minutes, which I did at 23:33. I got 1st place in my age division and came in 15th overall out of 338 other women. Not too bad for an old girl running her second race!! :D Next run……The Arnold with Frogprincess72 and hopefully Nursenic! Thanks to everyone who wished me luck and supported me along the way!!

Deadlifts

February 11, 2009

Yesterday was probably my last workouts for the week,  probably,  and I went out with a small bang..maybe more like a bing. : ) I did my easy 2 miles and then did the CF WOD which was max deadlifts. 1-135#, 1-145#, 1-150#, 1-155#, 1-160#, 1-165# and finished at 1-170#. Wish me luck on not working out!

Cindy

February 10, 2009

Yesterday was Cindy on the CF main site and I was excited, she is one of my favorite girls!!! The WOD is 5 pull ups, 10 push ups and 15 squats as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes. I got 14 rounds using a chair under my feet for some of the pull ups to push at the very end of the movement. Sunday I went out to the trail and ran 6 miles and change, probably close to 7 in 53 minutes. It was so nice outside, with at tempature of 72 and sunny. Of course, after being used to running in 40 degrees  it felt about 100 but I’ll take it!! Saturday we hit the mountain biking trails..it’s been toooo long!! The trail we went to is a fairly easy one that you can just really blow it out on and that is exactly what I did!!

Saturday is my race, so I was asking coach Sonja if I should do my speedwork that my training plan calls for. She said just do my easy 2 miles on Tuesday and skip the speedwork and then she said……and I wouldn’t do any Crossfit either. Bu…bu…but what do you mean, just don’t do any before the race?? The day before? This week?? OMG..what are you saying?? I know she is probably right, that’s why she’s the coach. Soooo I’m going to the gym this morning for my easy 2 mile run and the CF WOD of max weight Deadlifts BUT I probably will take off W-T-F or at least T-F. : )

YOU JERK!!!!!

February 7, 2009

Specifically a push jerk! I finally got it! Yessterdays Crossfit work out was shoulder press, push press and push jerk. I’ve only been able to do a push jerk a few times when I felt like my form was actually right and productive. So here’s the breakdown…..

Shoulder press

1-60,  1-65,  1-65,  1-70, and 1-70.

Push press

3-70, 3-70, 3-75, 3-75 and 1-80..failed.

Push jerk

5-65, 5-65, 5-70, 5-70 and 5-75

Getting these down feels GR8!!

Now, time for the mountain bike trails!!!!!!!!!!!!!
