My first bike tour, wish me luck
I have never been a "real" cyclist, and I haven’t been on a bike in 2-3 years until last month, BUT, I have been training for my first tour next month on August 9. It is a 42 mile slightly hilly ride in south west south central Texas. The DeLeon Melon Patch tour. There is a 71 mile leg also but HA HA there’s NO WAY. not this year 42 will be enough. This new challenge has changed up my workout habits a bit, I’m still going to the gym 3 days a week but doing less legs, less cardio, then riding 3 days a week. I have to increase from my current 26 ish miles to at least 45 by 8-9-08. I have been eating enough to maintain the weight I gained and am still working on gaining the other 7 lbs, this has been a HUGE accomplishment. All the riding has not taken ONE LITTLE BIT of cellulite off my butt though and that is very disappointing. OMG why won’t this stuff just go away. OK I’m over my rant now, lol. anyway, wish me luck, I’m going to need it.

I did a 70 mile bike ride to benefit the American Diabetes Association on April 9th, and at the time, I hadn’t been on a bike in more than twenty years. Like you, I trained for about three months before actually partaking, but I know how the very idea of the ride is scaring the beejesus out of you.
Let me say, though, that the sweet feeling of accomplishment when you finish is a high unlike any other in the world. GOOD LUCK! I’m rooting for you all the way.

Thanks Penteking. I need all the people in my corner that I can get. It does scare the bejeezus out of me in a way, especially when my friends start talking about doing the "hotter N Hell 100" next year. I told them just to let me get through this one first. I just hope I don’t have to knock some 95 year old lady off her bike to keep from being LAST over the finish line. lol JUST KIDDING I would never hurt an old lady, man maybe, but lady NEVER, lol. Thanks for the support.
