My first bike tour, wish me luck

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

I have never been a "real" cyclist, and I haven’t been on a bike in 2-3 years until last month, BUT, I have been training for my first tour next month on August 9. It is a 42 mile slightly hilly ride in south west south central Texas. The DeLeon Melon Patch tour. There is a 71 mile leg also but HA HA there’s NO WAY. not this year 42 will be enough. This new challenge has changed up my workout habits a bit, I’m still going to the gym 3 days a week but doing less legs, less cardio, then riding 3 days a week. I have to increase from my current 26 ish miles to at least 45 by 8-9-08. I have been eating enough to maintain the weight I gained and am still working on gaining the other 7 lbs, this has been a HUGE accomplishment. All the riding has not taken ONE LITTLE BIT of cellulite off my butt though and that is very disappointing. OMG why won’t this stuff just go away. OK I’m over my rant now, lol. anyway, wish me luck, I’m going to need it.

Workout tracker works both ways

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

I had been using my workout tracker to make sure I was getting in enough times per week, this week I have been very hecktic and busy both with work and home and still trying to workout enough, so when I pulled up my june and july I realized that I have worked out 6 days in a row and decided that I had better take today as a rest day (especially since I have a bike ride tomorrow morning.) It is a wonderful thing to have a calender covered with W’s so that you can maintain balance, but it only helps if you look at it often enough.

Never forget the reason

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Let us not forget the reason that we celebrate this day. It is not about beer and bar-b-q, not about getting an extra (or 2) days off work, nor about the fireworks. We celebrate this day; "Independence Day", for our FREEDOM from tyranny and oppression. Freedom from CONTROL by ANOTHER country, freedom that was hard fought and WELL won. Our forefathers fought for something they believed in, that was right and no one should ever be able to take away from us.  We stand to this day in defense of our Country, our homeland that we shall not relinquish to another. We stand and honor those who have past, present and future defended this country and her people. Let us take the time today in this celebration of freedom to remember and honor those who have are and will defend that freedom and made this possible. First, to all our troops; I thank you for your sacrifice and your belief, and to all those who do their part everyday (no matter how small you may think it is) to make this a better place. Let us celebrate our freedom and never forget those who make it possible.  This was not known as July 4th when I was growing up, it was known as INDEPENDENCE DAY and I for one will continue to call it that. Thanks, C

soreness always feels like progress, gotta love it

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Had a great workout tonight, fueled properly, worked past my tiredness and tried a couple of new exercises, tate press and bent-over side lat on cable. I’m feeling a little numb so I know it was good and I may be a little sore tomorrow, which is good, I haven’t really been sore lately even when I have pushed passed my limit. I like the soreness it feels like progress. I’ll get my cardio again tomorrow on the bike, maybe real early. Peace to the masses, C
