Awesome Adventure, 20+ mile bike journey
I had the most incredible adventure yesterday. At first I didn’t think I was going to be able to go because I had only had 3 hours sleep, but what the heck, right? Who needs sleep. I rented a mountain bike and drove to an out-of-the-way lake out west that has a hilly trail from one side of the lake around to an old 1800’s frontier fort. It is 10 miles each way, gravel and dirt path starting at a swimming hole and ending back up at it if you put in at the right spot. I am not a cyclist (in fact I haven’t been on a bike in about 2 years and have never mountain biked) so it worked my ever-lovin’-butt off. There were a couple of hills that ALMOST got the best of me. (but for anyone who knows me, I am not much of one for letting ANYTHING best me, so I did it)And I know that any serious biker would just laugh at those hills. It took me about an hour and a half to do each direction. On the trail I encountered more wild life than I could even tell you about, the coolest being a bobcat and some sort of shrew-mole-tail-less mouse thingy. Hung out checking out the history of the fort for a bit, then rode back to the swimming hole.(where people had begun to gather by that time.) BUT, the coolest part of the whole thing was, from the time I unloaded to the time I got back to the swim spot(except the people at the fort), I WAS THE ONLY PERSON ON THE ENTIRE TRAIL. AWWWWWWWWWWWWWESOME, for 20 miles I didn’t encounter another living soul. It was so great. That is exactly what I leave this huge, smelly, over-crowded city for is peace and man did I ever get some of that. So, now you see why I didn’t start this by saying where it was. I’m selfish and not willing to share. LOL. After my ride I had a lovely swim and drove home, all total I was up and on the rode and doing my THANG from 4 a.m. Saturday until 2a.m. this morning, but it was so good that I don’t even feel tired. I want to do it again soon. Peace to the masses, C
