WILL POWER?

OK, so here in the beginning of my journey one of the biggest things for me is trying to gain weight(muscle) without gaining FAT(which is what I want to LOSE.) And Tonight I am taking my son and his 9 months pregnant wife out to eat for his birthday, which means celebration food, right? SOOOO, I am going to force on the will, and eat something "clean" high protein, low fat, easy, right? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. I will be strong, I will be strong, I will be strong.

Resist all blandishments and stick to your plan. Let your son and daughter-in-law know what you’re trying to accomplish. This will make them part of the solution, instead part of the problem. Good luck.

Hi and thanks for the support, yeah they are good kids and they support me in my efforts, its just HARD to sit there and smell the melted caramel running down the cold cold yummy ice cream , oops see there I go. NO will power.I will be strong and I will think of your words while I am eating my grilled tuna and greens, no dessert.

Someone told me that fiber supplements make you feel full and so perhaps you wouldn’t be as tempted. Might want to give that a try. You’re right, though, outings with friends are social, obviously, and that just makes it tough because food and drink are both such a big deal when it comes to spending time with friends.

"Let me buy you a drink!"

    "Let’s get pizza!"

    "Here, try this!"

And then you’re faced with politely turning down a request or offer that was given as a gesture of kindness or friendship. What, we have to cut off all ties with Feasting Civilization??? Bah.

This has me thinking. Yes, probably a dangerous thing. Sure, the TRUTH is probably an option. :) But it almost might be easier to offer one of the following:

"Aw, geez, I’d love to, but my probation officer says I am prohibited from drinking right now."

"Man, pizza sounds great but I just finished an entire meat lover’s by myself!"

"I’ve given up (enter variable) for Lent (or other religious reason… you could even invent your own religiion)."

"Oh, I’m boycotting (insert restaurant name) because of global warming."

Hey, global warming works in ALL situations. It’s on the cover of this week’s (April 28, 2008) issue of Time.
