Well, It’s been over a month since my last entry. I’ve finally adjusted to this new routine I’ve developed. It seems to be working well, allowing more "rest time" for each mucle group. I’ve also put on some weight which suprisingly, feels pretty good. For the first time, I actually feel like I’m gaining significant muscle mass. As a "side note", last week I was approached by my 12 Y.O. son, who asked if he could start going to the gym with me to workout. I have to admit, It was one of my proudest moments as a Dad.

This week (March 23-29) I’ve taken a break from my lifting regimen. This week is cardio ONLY. I’ve been using the eliptical trainer for 45min per day (Interval course, level #4). I’m still designing a new lifting routine when I resume next week.

Well, I finally got my teeth fixed and feel fully recovered. I’m currently approaching the 3-month period of my current workout regimen. Despite my minor setback (teeth), I feel like i’ve made some moderate progress. Over the next couple of weeks, I plan to design a new routine in the hopes of avoiding any type of plateu. I’ve also noticed a "mild" ache in my right wrist and lower forearm, which has caused me to suspend my concentration curl routine.
I’m giving some thought to entering the hammer throw competition in the Ohio Scottish Games scheduled for late June of 2008. The more I think about it, the more it serves as a catalyst for me to stay focused on my workout regimen!!

Had a good workout this past Sunday. Went to SuperBowl party at my buddy’s house. Cooked ribs, had a few cold ones, saw a pretty good game. My good week ended there. Woke up Monday with a "minor" toothache. By Tuesday, I couldn’t eat. Called the dentist, he started on antibiotics. They kicked my butt! Fatigue, no energy. I went to the gym twice, did some limited cardio and leg work. Finally got to the dentst Friday. He tells me I need TWO root canals!! I still taking the antibiotics. It’s going to be a LONG next couple of weeks………

Stated a cycle of Creatine today. 5gms pre/post WO. I plan to take it for the next 6-8 weeks. While doing my upper body routne today, I attempted to start 1-2 sets of seated incline curls. It looks like I’m going to have to reduce the weight to maintain proper form. I’m going to experiment with it more this weekend (before the Super Bowl kicks off!!).

It’s been about three weeks now since I’ve begun this new lifting regimen. So far, I’m pretty happy with the way things have gone. I’m still continuing to make some minor adjustments. In addition to my lifting/workouts, I’ve also been putting a bit more focus on my diet. I’m currently putting more efffort into minimizing breads from my diet, thus avoiding any type of "sandwich" which was routine for lunch. For what it’s worth, I find it to be motivating!!

Since it’s Saturday, I went to the gym a little later than my usual weekday time (5:45am). Pretty busy, some new folks and some regulars. Saturday has historically been my "cardio only" day, but this year I doing some leg work as well. Feels pretty good. I’ll most likely keep this routine.

I’m still fooling around with this new dumbbell regimen. I usually like to do 10min cardio before I start fifting. It looks like I’ll have to put that on hold with this new program, unless I extend my workout time to 75min.

Far less "newbies" at the gym today. Pretty good workout, feeling good overall.

I started my new regimen today for my upper body workout. I started some advanced dumbbell exercises that I researched, targeting diffirent muscle groups. I felt like a "newbie" with some of these moves, needing to reduce the weight. Overall however, it felt pretty good. Now it becomes an issue of time management as I continue to "construct" this new program.
