Obstacles

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Well, sorry it’s been a while. My father was recently diagnosed with Tongue Cancer…Not a SMoker, Not a heavy drinker and Does NOT chew tobacco..three of the main causes..and he’s only 61!! Well went up to Connecticut (where I grew up) for the surgery(they removed a large tumor from his tongue), and just found out last Friday it is confirmed that it’s spread to the lymph nodes. A Tumor Board will meet this Friday and my parents will meet with the Doc on next Monday to go over prognosis and treamtent. I’m flying back to be with them for the Doctors Visit.

So with the above situation and some difficulties I’ve incurred while traveling. Now I"m not making excuses, as I had no trouble getting my workouts in and also had no problems with food during travel. Where I have incurred some difficulties, was ordering in some of the restaurants…even when I was being specific. I think I’m going to stop pressuring myself, and just get leaner and stay healthy. I need to compete…but I will do so in other avenues…5k, 10k & 1/2 marathon :) ….

Still up at 4:45am…kicking it in the gym…

GAME ON!!!

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Okay, have decided..I’m competing in August. All out…have a lot of work to do in regards to leaning down..but I’m ready for the challenge…it’s time to "just do it!". I thought about this a lot and went back and forth..but I don’t want to not do it, because I believe I would have wished I had and wondering. I never want to be left wondering what if?? So here we go.

Had a great workout this AM…chest and a 4.5 mile run! Going to hit the treadmill this evening for an additional 20-30minutes more..I’m getting ready for my trip next week to Portland Oregon. Looks like I have access to a nice training facility, which is great! Plus one of my best friends is in Portland (I’m in here wedding this July which will be held in New Hampshire)….so I’ll get to catch up!

Stay tuned…transformation coco "recharged"

Been a while..contemplation to compete in 2008

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Well, it’s been a little while since I last posted in my blog..here’s an update. Still training hard and eating to cut for a Late Summer Competition. Had a trip to Colorado recently, and was able to ski while I was there! Had a blast..did a 1/2 day ski lesson at Copper and ski’d on my own Saturday for about 4 hours! So much fun..and boy my quads were soar. The trip out there was for business, but was able to have some fun. Missed a couple of weight workouts, but made up for them on the slopes. I’m just under 22 weeks out from a show that I’m looking at doing. Have a ways to go physique wise, but slowly taking the bodyfat off.

So here’s my dilema. I love being on stage, and love the way my physique feels and looks when I compete. Now, when I originally started competing, my diet was way off..calories too low and overtraining. This really messed up my metabolism. I still can get lean, just takes me a bit longer and harder to work off the fat. Now that being said, the last few years, I work my butt of to get lean, then compete, and then the weight sucks it’s way back on…too much! Then I fight to take it off..you get the picture…yo-yoing back and forth. Which I don’t think is healthy one bit.

So here’s my thought, I am slowly taking the weight off, what I’m thinking is it might be healthier for me to get down and stay around 16% bodyfat..which is probably a weight of 125-130lbs for me. I competed at 112-115lbs. Right now I’m at 20-21% bodyfat and about 142lbs and 110lbs lean muscle! I’m happy about the muscle mass, as it has increased quite a bit in the past year since having the off season. I’m not sure as to what I will do…as I said I’m slowly dieting down, at a slower pace and thinking once I get to a comfortable weight/bodyfat, I’ll decide… Thoughts??
