Hunting as a sport

As i sit here and flip through the channels to find something to watch I ask myself how is this a sport. By definition SPORT is an activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. Where is the competition for an animal that is minding its business. They don’t have any defense except for their home which is their terrain. If these SPORTSMEN really want to make it a competition go up to it and fight it to death then it would be a real sport. Anytime you have a gun you already have the  upper edge. I just dont understand how it can be a sport when the animal being hunted has its senses as its only defense and a man with a gun is its way of winning, that makes a lot of sense to me. Oh yea, I forgot to mention the hunters also put on scents to make their ability of being caught a lot less. Remember sport involves competition, where is the competition in this?

i totally agree! there are so many more options for them out there they dont have to shoot a live defenceless aminal! like you said its minding its own business! they can shoot 3d targets which are exactly the same size weight everything as a real animal! and you cant tell the difference!
i love archery but i dont want to go out and kill living animals i love shooting targets and 3d models.. why cant they do this?
and to me competition is you competing against someone else (
another person!), not a animal which is no match for your gun/arrow whichever you choose as your weapon..
    awesome post!

While I have no problem with shooting a live animal, I do disagree with sport hunting. For the most part, the only "competition" involved is between the hunters. They have created a point system that involves the weight, overall size, age, and so on.
