2009 Here I come!

The new year is coming reeaaal soon!  I am so amped for 2009.  So i’ve already made a few resolutions and one of them include transforming my body to look more athletic and strong with a muscular frame that includes abs!  I haven’t had those since 6th grade! LOL

I’ve already began telling friends that by March 1st my abs will show!  I hope i can do it!  I need everyone’s help on this site and have already began researching types of diet.  I’m thinking of clean eating for the next two months and possibly consider a keto-type diet the last month to shed off the last few pounds.  I’m going to take a few before pics and measurements come the first day of 2009, so wish me luck!

BEACH season?

So Florida weather has been pretty awesome the last couple of days.  High of 77ish and sunny.  I still got some family friends from Michigan here with us and me and my buddies decided to take them to Cocoa Beach!  The weather was great, nice and sunny perfect for laying out or hanging out…. the water… not so much.  Had all the intention on trying to surf (i’m still learning), but the water was too freakin cold!  Yea there were tourists that were in the water who didn’t seem to mind, but I’m Floridian, that water was too much.

Anyway, I took my shirt off and thought to myself… this time in 3 months, i’m going to be shredded!  I think i have decent muscularity, but if i shed about 8-10 pounds of fat and keep as much muscle as possible, that would be awesome.  So here’s to 2009 with a better more fit body!   I’ll try and post some progress pics if i can. 

P.S.  Sometimes i forget how awesome Florida weather can be!  Cheers and Happy New Year

Bye bye Christmas

I’m sad, but happy Christmas is gone.  The family is leaving, the shopping has slowed, the need to please has suppressed, and the Christmas eating/partying is dying down.  I gave myself two days of guilt-free eating and a break from working out.  Christmas is a time to spend with family and friends enjoying each other’s presence, presents, and food also takes presidence.  But today i was excited to workout!  I got to leave work early, called up my buddy, took 4 caps of white flood (from the sample packet), grabbed my freshly delivered wrist straps, protein mix, and banana and killed it in the gym.  Did a great Pull day and the straps definitely allowed me to push an extra 10-20 lbs on all my lifts!!  The two days allowed me to recharge for a great workout.

 P.S. had dinner with a couple of friends tonight and two who i haven’t seen in a while.  Both of them said, you’ve been working out, huh?  Which to myself I smiled and gave a humble, "yeah"  and inside i was screaming "whooooooO!"

Error…

Well i just came back from a workout and my buddies actually joined me this time.  I think cuz they know that new year is coming, and they figured that they need it to kick it into high gear…again.  I had a bunch of friends working out with me pretty consistently, then it died down and there was only one… me.

 So anyway, i told them i was keeping track of how much i’ve been lifting and i’ve neglected to count the bar!  So my squats and benches have been 45 lbs less than they actually were.  So my workout tracker looks like i made some major gains in strength in a week.  But i don’t feel like going back and editting all the weights.  So starting now, i’m going to add the weight of the bar.   Sheesh.

 Well at least I had an awesome leg workout today.  I was pumped up and energized.  It really makes a difference when you have a workout buddy to motivate you.  Whether both of you are going for the same goals or whether you just want to do better than him! lol  Hopefully my buddies will keep it up, so that my progress will be better.

The Magic Bullet

So… i got one of these for secret santa with my friends… and it is AWESOME!

Protein shakes are so easy to make!  I feel like i’m on an infomercial everytime i talk about it.  Protein powders blend so easily.  i can even grind up oats and flaxseeds  and mix it into my shake and make it easier to swallow.  This has got to be one of the best gifts and most practical i’ve ever gotten!  Thanks Melissa!  lol

‘Tis the Season

The holdiay parties are taking its toll. Had my work party yesterday and it was a smorgasbord!(sp?)  It was potluck lunch at my boss’s and everyone went full force.  Fried chicken, mac n cheese, cheesecake, all kinds of dips, cakes.  Then afterwards a couple of us went for a "few" drinks.  Then that lead into my friend’s Christmas party that night.  More beer more chicken wings.

I am a weak man… it’s hard to not get caught up in the festivities.  It’s hard to not be social.  This is turning out tougher than i thought…

Lunch workout

I was able to squeeze in quick back workout today.  The office is slow and my gym is only 5 minutes away if no traffic.  Felt pretty good, trying out different back exercises.  I wish i had more time i would’ve liked to do a few more exercises, but hey at least I was able to go.  Finding time to workout this Christmas time is getting tough  let alone trying to avoid all the holiday eating and drinking. 

Chest & 30 wings

I did a pretty good chest workout today.  The gym was more crowded than usual.  Maybe they had a crazy weekend of drinking and partying like i did and feel guilty, so they all decided to try and make up for it hard this week.  It might also have to do with the "grand opening" of the gym.  Whole bunch of vendors littered the freakin place.  Of course non of them were health related.  Except for the lady who asked if i wanted soft hands.  "No gracias"  The workout felt great, i really needed a tough chest day.

I ended up having a cheat meal today.  Unplanned, but i hope it didn’t mess me up too much.  After the workout, of course i had my whey, milk, glutamine, and creatine shake.  Then got home, changed and went to Gators.  And if anyone knows anything about Gators on a monday, they do all you can eat wings for $10.  So needless to say I had 30.  My body really needed that protein but not so much the fat.  I think tomorrow i’m going to lay low on the carbs, to try and adjust.  I really suck at dieting.  Any tips for me would be really appreciated.

Anyway, hopefully this will be my only cheat meal for the week.  Oh wait… there’s Christmas party on wednesday night at Ale house (more wings & beer).  Oy… wat to do… wat to do…

Reindeer Run

So i just came back from finishing a 5K.  And i feel pretty good!  Not an awesome time 28:30, but still pretty good!  I’ve really seen a difference with my conditioning this time.  I’ve been doing cardio 2-3 times per week and it’s helped me a lot to finish this race.  It was a good distraction to see elves and rudolphs running beside me!  I think I’m going to continue to do these 5K’s as part of my cutting regiment.  Let’s see how this goes…. 6 pack here i come!
