I’m interested to know how many people actually do proper squats on this site. I look at peoples bodyspace and they have huge numbers on there squats. Now I’m not saying that the numbers can’t be right, because people can pull huge numbers in squats. It does seem like a lot of people don’t realize that they are not doing a full squat. I see pictures of people that don’t have proper footing to even be able to reach a full squat position.
To all those people that have a 150lb deadlift, and a 500lb squat, I’d like you to try something. With your legs shoulder width apart feet angled out at about a 35 degree angle, now try doing a heavy back squat with even half of what you say your max is, but this time I want you to go all the way down in the squat, ass to grass is a good term. I bet that max will drop significantly.
Like I say I don’t mean to be rude to anyone, if you use this technique you will build much more strength. Maybe it won’t impress people so much when you load up the bar, but you will have much greater gains, and the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing it properly.
