Recognizing a slump

So I have hit my usual slump of not wanting to workout, although I recognized it before I gained any weight back. This is a good step in that when I usually get into this slump I gain all the weight I lost back twice as fast as I lost it. I plan on hitting the elliptical when I get home from work today. I am saying this to motivate myself, as I am going to a hockey game tonight, I think I can get home for 5:20, get on the elliptical for 5:30, and finish the elliptical at 6:00, shower and get to the game for 6:30. It will be tight, but I should be able to do it, and after that I will be re-energized to hit the gym every day.

In other news I am still doing by combat conditioning workouts. I am slowly getting a bit more flexible. One other thing I want to mention I think I am going to bring my jump rope to work and have a good session on that every day at lunch.

Flexibility

It’s funny when I was say  in high school. I never cared about flexibility, especially since I was one of the big guys. I just figured that the skinny kids had the flexibility and I had the strength. Which I determined was a good, but now as I get older and I have gained quite a bit of weight. Now I see flexibility as a more important trait. The other day I was out snowboarding and it was a task to reach down and do up my bindings… Now I think that was the real eye opener. Lately I have been working on flexibility every day. I can now do a gymnastic bridge.. I remember trying this in high school and failing miserably. But I can actually do it now, last night I even held it for about fifteen seconds. That may sound like nothing but that is quite an accomplishment when you weigh 247lbs. So anyway I will continue to gain flexibility, as it is a very important thing.

Keepin on track

I have been doing good, eating healthier. I haven’t been going to the gym as much as I would like but that will come. I have lost ten pounds since Jan 1, 2009 and will be starting Body For Life on Sunday. I should be updating all my stats on sunday as well so that I have a good journal of my accomplishments at the end of twelve weeks.

Bursts of will power

So as I look over my profile, I look at my weight chart thinking that I have bursts of will power. After a good week I am still very committed I have lost 5.5lbs in a week so far, since my last blog. Anyway on with my first thought, the most I have lost in one burst of fitness and willpower is 10lbs. So I am hoping that next week around this time I will be able to report that I have beat that. The main factors that cause me to fail normally is that I like to workout in the morning and I am not a morning person so pulling myself out of bed can be a task. So to improve this I get up the second the alarm goes of, if I hit the snooze button there is no way I will get up…  Well I will talk to you next week and another 5lbs lighter.

New Years Resolution

Well the time has come to say the same thing as everyone else this year, I want to lose all the weight I have been trying to lose. The difference this time for me is that I am not going to drink any alcohol, until I see some serious weight loss, tentatively I will say I will not be drinking till may, but that could be extended. Also I have enrolled myself in the Body for Life Canada competition. I will also be more strict with my meal plans. Well here I go again, I will keep everyone informed.
