The Benefits of Rest

Today, I had another great workout.  I was actually able to train delts heavy, when just a couple weeks ago I couldn’t move my arm without my shoulder hurting.  I just wanted to share my philosophy with others about not being afraid to take time off, because in the long run, it will pay off.  If you are injured or don’t feel like working out, take the day off and do something fun… come back the next day and I garuntee you will have more energy and a better workout.  Trust me, I know bodybuilders (including myself) like to stick to their split, but taking a little break, even just a day off can really help you out… whether you are injured or just run down.  Hope that helps..

Amazing advice. I hurt my left deltoid last friday and even though I am very eager to get into the gym today…. it may be smart to stay out. My left posterior Deltoid is sore and i can feel the pain into my tricep and sometimes even my forearm…. have you experienced anything like it? The pain is mild which makes me want to work through it…. but i am afraid of further injuring it.

I totally agree a little time off doesn’t harm ur progress at all and if its for injury recovery theres no other option but to rest or u could end up with permanent injury.sometimes I’ve went back to the gym after 3 days off and ended up lifting a bit more. we all need a break and overtraining is as bad as not trainin at all progress goes down the pan!!
