Vegas, 11 days away!!!

Monday, June 29th, 2009

After Jr Nationals I pigged out (duh) lol.  When I left for Chicago I was 109lbs, when I came back I was 119!!! LOL, i figure most of that was water from my body kinda going into shock from pizza and ice cream.  I really only ate bad for 24 hours but then I had 3 days where I didn’t workout and wasn’t on any particular eating regimen.

Since then (5 days ago i weighed 119), I have dropped down to 111.4lbs!  Cardio has become my best friend again and I started sprinting again in prep for fitness skills in Vegas.  I’m not as confident as I was this time last year just because I haven’t been focused on this show (due to Jr Nationals) as much.  I will be doing some testing this week to see where I stand.  I think my bench press and box jumps will be fine.  I’m not sure about the shuttle run and the obstacle course tho.  We’ll see :-)

Back from Jr Nationals

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

I finished 6th in fitness class A  (2nd place in routines and 9th in physique).  I’m very pleased with my routine placing since that was my focus for this show.  Obviously I’m not so excited about my physique score but its not a surprise.  The immediate feedback I received was that I was "too muscular" or "blocky" …I guess I am ok with that considering I had about 6 weeks of contest prep.  My next NPC show will be National Fitness Championships (Team U) September 18-19 in New York.   I will focus on getting smaller in the 8 weeks after my WTF show.

But in the meantime I have 2 weeks to get ready for Women’s Tri-Fitness World Challenge in Vegas!!!  This by far is my favorite show of the year.  I love the obstacle course and fitness skills.  I am a little nervous because my preparation has not been focused on this since I had Jr Nationals first.  But I will hit it full force the next 14 days to try and fine tune.  7am sprints, lets go!!!!

Chicago bound… hard to focus

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

I will be in Chicago in less than 48 hours preparing to compete at Jr Nationals.  I’ve trained, I’ve dieted, i’ve done all the small things (nails, tanning, posing practice, etc)… Still, right now i’m not excited about competing.  Not nervous… not… anything.  my home was broken into last night so that definitely sucked all the emotion out of this week… Right now I just want to get it over with…

Homestretch… 8 days til Jr Nationals

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Yesterday I had my weak body part wednesday workout which consisted of a 40minute tire workout (flipping, rowing, hammer, 200m jog times 4 rounds) followed by a hamstring workout.

Romanian deadlifts - 4 sets of 6 with 185lbs.

Single stiff leg deadlifts - 6 each leg with 40lb dumbbell

-superset with-

seated leg curls - 20 with 90lbs

-3 sets

…my hamstrings are so pitiful, this will be my wednesday workout through Fitness Nationals in September.

So I’m decarbing now… less than 60g of carbs/day (excluding brocoli, lettuce, and tomato) and only tilapia and egg whites.  I believe this is day 3… I’ll keep that going thru next Tuesday if I can get under 110lbs.  If not I will do it through next Wednesday as well.  Then I’ll start adding carbs back in.

I made it through all of my routine skills today without grimacing from my hamstring injury.  However, the lack of carbs is making it impossible to go through the entire routine.  I will keep practicing individual skills and short sequences then on Sunday I will have to find someway to force myself through the entire routine twice.  After that its only walk throughs and stretching until the show.

9 days til Jr Nationals!!

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

So I’m feeling pretty confident about my physique right now (which never happens)… So either I have tricked myself into believing that I look good by looking at pics from last year’s winners or I’m just so over doing cardio that I don’t care anymore lol…. Either way, I’m feeling good so that will do wonders for my stage presence.

As for routine, its great.  My costume is ready.  This nagging hamstring injury is making me really timid when I practice.  So I’m practicing at 75% knowing that when I get on stage I’m going to have to give it 110%.  Not sure how thats going to go.  But if I can just keep a smile on my face for the entire 2minutes then somehow I will make it through.  No turning back now, lets get it!!!

I leave for Chicago 2 weeks from today!!!

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

I’m OBSESSED with cardio!  I now do half my morning cardio before I practice my routine and the other half after.  So this morning I did 30min on the bike, 30min on my routine, then 30 more on the bike.  That works pretty well right now.  My hamstring is really starting to bother me so I’m going to lay off flexibility practice for a few days and see how it feels next Tuesday.  Until then I will have to step up the rest of my prep to account for that onstage.  Tonight I will do some posing practice and then more cardio.  My body is doing special stuff this time.  My legs are getting ripped as well as my shoulders but I can’t find my lower abs to save my life.  Ummm, yea I usually get them before my legs start showing definitiion.  O well, time for a nap before I go back to the gym

15 days til Jr Nationals!!!

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

I performed my routine in Mobile, Al this past weekend at NPC Steel World hosted by Mike and Jan Horn and got a great response from the crowd and judges so I’m really excited about it :-) …My hamstring is still bothering me a little so its kind of hard to practice my routine full out but I am pushing through.  My workouts have been going well.  Except for yesterday.  Yesterday I had the most pitiful excuse for a workout ever!  I think i was just mentally and physically drained cuz i didn’t feel like doing ANYTHING.  I did my 45 min of morning cardio against my own wishes then came back later for my workout.  It was a simple circuit of cleans, crunches, and jump rope.  I stopped two rounds short and every rep was like pulling teeth.  I finished with 45 more min of cardio which was possibly the longest 45minutes in the history of this planet!

Today I felt much better.  I did 25 min of cardio then routine practice for 35min.  Then I did a crossfit workout that included heavy deadlifts (I maxed at 230lbs for 3 reps!!!) and then finished with pullups, ball slams and renegades.  After that I did another 20min on the bike.  I will TRY to do 45 more minutes of cardio tonight but we will see.  O yea, there were some upright rows and box jumps in there too :-)

I still feel like Chicago is a warm up show for Nationals this September but who knows, I may surprise myself
