Just when things are shaping up….

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

I was having a great week training… Monday I had a light weightlifting day (total body plus box jumps and shuttle run) along with cardio.  Tuesday I did my speed training with short sprints.  Wednesday I had a great whole body workout including leg press for the first time since my back injury ~8 weeks ago.  And then….

Wednesday night I couldn’t sleep!  That along with other symptons sent me to the doctor Thursday morning to find out I had strep throat :-( …soooo no working out yesterday - which was fine considering I felt like death for most of the day.  I also didn’t eat much yesterday.  I had an egg omelet with chicken at 8am and a mango at 7pm.  Don’t remember much in between.  I was 20xs better today so this afternoon I got on the elliptical for 40min and COMPLETELY wore myself out.  I will resume regular workouts tomorrow if everything keeps getting better.

I don’t think I lost to much with my day off but its still frustrating to get thrown off when your on a roll.  O well, I’m moving forward again.

Contest Photos!

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

nothing like contest photos to make you say "dang, i gotta get to the gym" :-) …i’m really upset that i didn’t get to go to Jr. USA’s this year, the pics look like there was some great competition there.  Everything happens for a reason though, right? I hope so, because I can’t wait to get back on the NPC stage.  You will see a completely new package from me for the physique rounds (with the same awesome routine style…).  Anyway, my back is 10x better than it was, and i’m able to practice my routine nearly pain free.  I will be ready for vegas this year…

I was talking to a bodybuilder (who is bound and determine to get me on stage at EVERY national show next year lol) about my physique yesterday.  I told him that I have the same goal for my "off-season" (which i am calling all of ‘08 due to my back injury) as i did last year - I want to get my weight/bodyfat down around 110lbs/10% constantly so that i can get more lean for contest.  looking back on contest photos from 2007 nat’ls i look like a fat girl up there with those girls. 2007 natl comparison 1piece.bmp

2007a natl comparison 2piece.bmpi think its because i had to far to go when it came to contest prep. i felt like i looked awesome, the day before the 1 piece round Picture 042.jpg and i think that was because of the water manipulation and carbs and stuff. i figure if i go in looking better before the carb/water manipulation then i will look better onstage…

well, i "said" that last year, but this year i’m doing it. i’m a lean 115lbs right now and i plan on losing 10lbs for my show in vegas (7 weeks away) then maintaining at 110 until 2009 npc season…

7 weeks out… sprinting and chiropractor

Friday, May 16th, 2008

I went to see a chiropractor for the first time ever yesterday.  That was an "experience" …I will say that my back does feel better at the moment so I’m hoping to go back 2 more times and be good to go.  Either way, I’m competing in July and I’m not holding anything back!

Training is going great!  I have been doing serious sprint workouts twice a week for the last 3 weeks now.  The definition in my legs is great.  Its even better then it was at nationals last year and I haven’t even started cutting calories or carbs yet!  I’m convinced my coach is trying to kill me, but its ok because he is just so gorgeous that I don’t mind lol…

Tuesday: 5×100m, 15×50m downhill sprints, 5×25m uphill lunges

Thursday: 10×40m sprints, 5×20m, 2×150m

I’m teaching 7 boot camps/week now and I’m doing between 70-90% of the class with them so I’m getting my cardio in… I will add traditional cardio in about another week (5days/week).  Right now, I only do traditional cardio on 2days/week (days i only teach 1 boot camp).  My weight workout have consisted of mainly chest and back metabolic workout to try and minimize weight bearing on my lower back and preserve my legs for sprint practice.  Seems to be working out.

As for my routine, the only thing I have been able to do is work on flexibility and a few strength moves so far, but hopefully I can start working on my whole routine again by the end of this month at the latest.  If i can get 4 full weeks of routine practice in, I will be fine (I live to perform)… Thats the latest, peace!

Its been a whole month…

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

since i have blogged…. I’ve been taking exams and moving!  But i’m all finished now so i hope to be back on here regularly :-)   I’ve been back on total body workouts 2-3xs a week and i just started back sprint practice this past Thursday. OUCH!

10×100m

25m hill work:

-8 sprints

-5 frog jumps

-5 high knees

-5 lunges

I will be doing similar workouts on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next 9 weeks leading to Vegas so I’m excited.  I was so sore up until this morning, it was great!  I went for a 30minute jog in my new neighborhood this morning so I hope I can be consistent with that as well.

If you have been keeping up, you know I had a back injury nearly 6weeks ago that I’ve been nursing.  I’m back to skill practice for my routine with minor but manageable pain.  Look out Vegas!!!!!
