Frustration…
Saturday, December 22nd, 2007I injured my knee running the obstacle course back in November. Immediately after the injury a doctor did some test and determined it was no ligament damage so I just stayed off of it as much as possible (except for Nationals in Dallas the next weekend) for 3 weeks. After that I started running again and riding the bike but stayed away from things that might put extra stress on my knee (squats and lunges and such). But my knee still wasn’t getting better…
This is where the frustration builds- I call to make an appointment with my doctor and let them know I need to see an orthopedic and that I prob need an MRI for my knee. When I get to the office I explain everything thats wrong with my knee AGAIN (as I had done previously to two different people on the phone). The nurse practioner proceeds to give me generic advice (stay off it, take some anti-inflammatories, "lets see what happens"), have x-rays done, and prescribe a flippin knee brace! I’m going "what the f is the point of me going to the doctor, if you gone tell me "let’s see what happens"?!!! I can SEE WHAT HAPPENS without you! A knee brace??! Anti-inflammatories??! I don’t wan’t to diminish the pain from my knee, I want to FIX THE PROBLEM! GRRRRRRRRR!
I go see an orthopedic in 2 weeks. I’m sure it will be another 2-4 wks after that before anything is actually done to fix my knee. Crap! This means my training is getting pushed back all that time. I mean you can only do so much without a knee.
My dayz don’t go well without working out. Riding the bike, jogging, and doing bodyweight exercises have run there course. If I can’t push some weight, run some sprints, or at least play basketball soon, I’m going to lose my flippin mind!
If I don’t workout, I don’t work! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
P.S. Happy Festivus!
