I’ve been slacking
My cardio has gone out the window over the last couple of weeks. I’m not too sure what happened, but i just haven’t been able to motivate myself to go run. I’m thinking of changing from doing long runs to doing several short sprints to try and recharge my interest. I hate when i fall into a rut, because it’s such a pain to get back on track……………..

Get your butt at that door boy!! Go run!! I try to make every run during the week different, one day I do long, an shorter runs are for speed, hills for strength, sprints to build up threshold, sometimes on long runs I like to drive somewhere to run someplace new. It’s a great way to see other towns and sometimes the distraction will allow to push beyond what you would normally do.

Yeah I really need to. I’ve been slacking huge over the last couple weeks. With work and trying to get a fledgling business off the ground on top of family life it’s been tough to even find 30mins to get out and run. Now that it’s getting nice I should be out there getting some miles in

Yes you should even if all you have is 30 mins it’s worth it and even if you don’t progress milage wise while doing this atleast you want regress and you can build speed off 30 min workouts. Inactivity is not our friend!

I’m not inactive by any means. I’m still getting into the gym 4 days a week, but I just can’t seem to find time to run, whihc casues me to lose the cardivascular shape I was in whihc makes it tougher, whihc causes a loss in motivation. It’s a visious cycle

Ahh, I didn’t mean inactive in that way.I ment it in relation to running. You have to run atleast 3 times a week just to maintain your running level. It slips away quickly. That cycle is why you meet runners that want skip a day come hell or highwater….every runner I’ve ever meet hates that cycle and we’ve all been there.I know how you feel.It sucks. Unfortunetly running and cardio takes matience and hard work and it always sucks when you take time off it and first come back, makes ya feel like your startin over. It’ll get better though!

Yeah I think I’m going to do some wind sprints tonight. I don’t really feel like runing a bunch of miles, so maybe killing myself wilth sprints will get me back into it.

I sometimes start with sprints when I don’t feel like running, LOL I figure I’m tired just get it over with but then the endorphins kick in and I end up doing full runs…sprints for some reason always kick me into me running mode.

Yeah sprints really get me going. I would much rather sprint than long distance run, but it’s a lot harder on the lower legs.

The yoga will go along way toward helping with that.Keep the calves stretched and will help hold off shin splints.

Yeah, I really want to get into yoga just haven’t had the time. To add to the issues I got an inner ear infection last Fri that has taken me out of working out for a short while. Hell i can’t even drive now

That doesn’t sound good LOL I def wouldn’t do in any yoga with that….unless you like falling on your face face……time wise though if your having trouble fitting everything in…pick out a few of the basic yoga poses and use them as a stretching method after your other workouts….accomplish 2 things at once.

Yeah i haven’t been in the gym, or done much of anything, since last week. This has been kind of a weird few months with injuries and illness. hopefully this ear thing is just an infection

I actually hit the gym on Mon, but had to go in to the doctor yesterday for abotu 3 hours of testing. They put me on steroids to bring down inflamation in my left ear and get my balance back.
This morning I went out and did 5 100 yard wind sprints to try and get back into running. I’m also going to hit legs this afternoon. The funny thing is that I actually look a little more cut from taking the last couple weeks off. I lost some muscle though. I’m down to 223lbs.

My friend, go buy a jump rope. I will work wonders. And it’s not as boring as trotting/jogging/running/sprinting, in my opinion. Of course, if you’ve never used a jump rope before there is a learning curve. Took me a while to get the hang of it. But trust me, it’s well worth it. You get a better cardio workout in less time than running and the impact isn’t as high, if done properly.
