Damn Shoulder

This shoulder thing is getting old.  I gave it about a week to heal up and it felt pretty good, so I go in Mon, do chest, and after that my shoulder is killing me again.  I did some research and based on my symptoms it sounds like I have a tear in the anterior deltoid, which is a relief.  I’m glad it’s not a rotator cuff or joint injury.  The big issues is once it’s inflamed I can’t do any upper body without making it worse, so now Ihave to take time off and that always causes a loss of motivation.  I tend to eat worse and run less when this happens.  I was making some great gains too.

I think what I’m going to try and do is train light on upper body for the next week or two, along with a ton of icing, and try to work that muscle back to strength.  Anyone have experience with this type of injury?

rotator cuff injuries a plenty…never a tear in the front delt. If you really think it is that, then I’m afraid you’ve got more than just a week off ahead of you. Any bruising?

No, I don’t think it’s a large tear, just a small one. when i push on the muscle It actually feels like it’s in the thickest part of the muscle belly . I’ve had similar tears in my pec where they weren’t bad enough to bruise up, but enough that any kind of lifting would cause a decent amount of pain. It isn’t so bad that I don’t have free moevement of my arm unless I agrivate it. it’s actually kind of weird injury, and I’m not 100% how I got, whihc originally made me thing deteriorative injury, but I’m very careful about my shoulder joints when i lift.

Sounds like you might have bicep tendonitis. I had this and it takes a good while to heal up. I got it from too much bench, especially incline bench press.

That could be since it the insertion is right under the deltoid. The only thing is that i don’t get much pain when doing any kind of pulling motion or biceps.
