So far this year I’ve had some really good progress with my workouts, only to be dashed by multiple injuries. Just when I really get something going I re injure a knee, or thrash my wrist doing some activity outside of the gym. Luckily the activities have afforded me some leeway in keeping me fit, but I still need my gym time, both sanity and health reasons……..

Anyone have any experience with pain in the back side of the knee when straightening it out? I snapped my tib and fib a few years ago, and had some serious pain in the back of my knee due to it. The Dr never seemed really concerned about it though. I then self rehabilitated it over the following year and the pain went away. A couple months ago I reaggravated it doing wind sprints, and it’s progressively gotten worse since. It’s now to the point where it hurts all the time and limits what I can do in the gym. Any advise would be appreciated.

Things have been nuts with work and my entrepreneurial spirit, which has taken away from my gym time in a big way. I’m finally starting to get back into it, but man it’s tough getting the motivation revving again. I have been running and have been maintaining weight around 223lbs, but feel pretty soft, and need my Iron fix back. I’m thinking about staring to bring some NO2 into my supplement rotation to help out with things. I figure a hard 225lbs is perfect.

Anyone have experience with this? I’ve had this infection for 2 weeks this Fri. The first week was debilitating. Basically I couldn’t get out of bed without falling over or puking, so no working out during that. The doctors all had different theories and it was even possibly a thyroid condition. Things have gotten better over time, though I still have crap balance. On Sun I figured I was at 90%, so I went for a mountain bike ride, only to find that I still had no balance and after several close calls i finally took a digger into the street.
Yesterday they finally got me in and did some serious tests. Turns out my left ear is sending 40% less balancing signals than my right and it is most likely due to a virus, which they prescribed steroids for. I have been back to the gym on Mon and Today, which is quite interesting. My head spins quite a bit and I have to be careful. I also ran wind sprints which was also quite interesting, due to the fact that world kept bouncing up and down long after I did. Fun fun.

My cardio has gone out the window over the last couple of weeks. I’m not too sure what happened, but i just haven’t been able to motivate myself to go run. I’m thinking of changing from doing long runs to doing several short sprints to try and recharge my interest. I hate when i fall into a rut, because it’s such a pain to get back on track……………..

My shoulder is finally feeling better. After three weeks of not doing any shoulder work ,and keeping my chest work fairly light, my shoulder doesn’t hurt. Today will be a good test of how well it’s healed, because I am planning on doing some light shoulder work to work it back into the fold.
I can’t stand injuries, especially little ones that just nag at you for a few weeks

This shoulder thing is getting old. I gave it about a week to heal up and it felt pretty good, so I go in Mon, do chest, and after that my shoulder is killing me again. I did some research and based on my symptoms it sounds like I have a tear in the anterior deltoid, which is a relief. I’m glad it’s not a rotator cuff or joint injury. The big issues is once it’s inflamed I can’t do any upper body without making it worse, so now Ihave to take time off and that always causes a loss of motivation. I tend to eat worse and run less when this happens. I was making some great gains too.
I think what I’m going to try and do is train light on upper body for the next week or two, along with a ton of icing, and try to work that muscle back to strength. Anyone have experience with this type of injury?

So some how I managed to have leg day on the same day as I run. Well it wasn’t a fun experince. I did legs around 2PM and ran around 8PM and my legs just about gave out on me. They cramped up like no other. I started out feeling them complain, but figured I’d run the pain out and they’d get into the grove after about a mile. Yeah, that didn’t happen. About the second mile they wanted to lock up and my shins were on fire. At that point I decided to take my ball and go home. Lesson learned, I’m keeping legs and running seperate from this point on

After posting a comment on another blog I figured I’d post here to get a woman’s perspective on a current issue I have in my marriage. My wife has put on some weight after our second child and with changing from an active job to sedentary one. She hates working out and lived most of her life with a body like she worked out all the time with no work. I know she’s hates the weight and I of course encourage her to workout and not eat like crap. She does good for a couple weeks then falls off the wagon and when i bring it up that she’s fallen off she tells me I’m nagging her. What is the best way to passively motivate her to work out? Right now it’s effecting not only how she feels about herself, but also the things we can do with our kids and where we go.

So I’m hating life today. Took the ski train to winterpark yesterday and had a great day of riding in great conditions on an almost empty mountain. I have to say it was probably the best day of snowboarding I’ve had in two years. Well on the way home on the train we had free drinks, and I over did it. All day today I have been completely out of it, and need to hit the gym, but probably won’t. Why can’t I keep the resistance to hangovers I had when i was in my early 20’s??? It must be due to two factors….age and the fact that I don’t really drink much any more. I seriously am worthless today at work, and I’m ready to call it a day. Hopefully a jog tonight will help clear my head a little
