So what would you do if you saw someone disrepect the U.S. Flag?
Yesterday I was watching my kids play outside, and about a block up the street I see a kid running with a nice blanket, and it looked just like the U.S. Flag. But as the kid ran it caught flight. And then I realized, thats our Flag. Well as soon as I noticed that the kid was actually running and playing with a real Flag, here comes an older man stopping from his walk to stop the kid from playing with the Flag. It looked like they were neighbors, but he stopped her play. And then I wondered what would happen if that had been an adult on some "I hate the U.S." trip. How ugly would it had gotten, and being that this is Texas, I will tell you…REAL PHUKIN UGLY!!!! So I ask, What would you do if you saw someone disrespecting the Flag?

Kids will be kids… its not like they were burning the flag.

Personally I would try to never disrespect the american flag, it is hard to even dispose of them properly (supposed to burn them). However, it is also disrespect to the flag to stop anyone from using the flag as a symbol of protest, because by impeding on there freedom you are disrespecting what that flag actually stands for. In the case of a child you should not threatiningly educate them, but try to remember what the flag stands for and that is what you don’t want to disrespect. In my humble oppinion

I would politely, but firmly, tell them that what they were doing was disrespecting the flag and ask them to stop. Chances are that someone like this kid just doesn’t know any better. After all, she’s probably seen Olympic athletes take a victory lap with a flag draped over their shoulders. If they refuse or go off on some anti-U.S. rant, then it’s probably best to leave them alone. The Supreme Court says they have a First Amendment right to desecrate the flag, and it’s not worth a trip to the county jail to lay the smack-down on them. (No, I would never hit a kid, but you get my drift.)

Im not talking about kids, I talking what if it had been an adult?

In the case of a child you should (non threatiningly) educate them,
Wanted to clarify that sentence

If it were a child, I would definitely do some "educating" like that man did.
Too many people don’t know the proper way to treat the flag.
If it were an adult, I would tell that person they’re an idiot and to find a more intelligent way to voice their disagreements.

Talk about your catch-22s. We live in a nation that allows for freedom of speech, so an individual is protected (unfortunately) if he wants to disrespect the flag. Doesn’t make sense to me as to why you would want to disrespect the flag, yet stay in the country. Pretty sad. I’m sure I would voice that to an adult if I saw it.

This is a good question…I see it as a matter of free speech. Sure, some people may feel that it expresses their angst toward the U.S. to burn the American Flag; and that expression is protected. If I ever see anyone disrespecting the flag (adult) I might just utilize my freedom of expression to bust a fool’s head…which is probably not protected but should be….F-ing hippies.

I side along with thewelderguy on this one for sure.

I would try to stop them. It’s a symbol that you don’t mess with.
It makes my skin crawl to see people wear flags as clothes, particularly bikinis. The US flag is not supposed to be used for things.

As a government teacher I teach proper flag etiquette. We have lengthy debates over the burning of the flag and should it be protected as a part of freedom of speech. It is surprising how many students feel that it shouldn’t be and they give the classic reason of if you are in the US and have a problem with the government, get the hell out and leave us to live in the greatest country ever.
That being said, I agree with thewelderguy. I would impose my 1st amendment rights to tell the adult that there are better ways to protest and if he continues, I would invoke my right to bear arms (my actual arms) and punch-a-size his face for free.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Ditto with welderguy. Freedom of speech, press, expression.
But I sure as hell will do the same and use my expression to show how pissed off I am at the for disrespecting the flag.

1 good reason to live in ky
Kentucky: Desecration of "venerated objects" is a misdemeanor which applies if someone "desecrates in a public place the national or state flag or other patriotic or religious symbol which is an object of veneration by the public or a substantial segment thereof."
so yeah i would talk then i would beat his face then call the police

Just look at them like they are crazy. The amazing thing about our flag is it gave them a right to disrespect it. Now that’s what I call freedom baby! A very precious gift our freedoms.
