Fat Parents = Fat Kids

I just heard on the new that 1 in 5 pre schoolers are obese. WTF???? How can parents put their kids health at risk? It is setting them up for a hard life, and you know what.Usually when you see fat kids, you see their fat parents struggling behind them to keep up huffing and puffing. I just don’t understand it, fat parents I understand how hard it is to resist the great foods out there. But please, help your kids and get off your ass!!!!!  Get them and yourself probably off of the video games. I have never allowed my children to just veg out in front of the television and watch T.V. and play video games. As a result, they play outside and get plenty of excercise. They begged me for a WII for Christmas, and I got it. They played hard on it for a week, and have not really touched it since. I asked why they don’t play it, they say they would rather go outside and play baseball for real than to do it on a game. So if you set up some rules and guidelines you can create healthy habits for them. So put the remote down, and get off your ass, and get outside and do something. Oh, and stop eating bullS$%t.

Your kids sound like mine. They got a Wii last Christmas from relatives and the only time they play on it is when the weather is too lousy for them to go outside. They’d rather do the real thing too.

And I agree, where there are fat kids, there are fat parents. It makes me so sad to see the whole lot of ‘em.

Some parents would rather let their kids stay docile by letting them veg out and eat junk and play video games than interact with them or encourage them to go out and play and use their MUSCLES AND IMAGINATIONS.

Along with the physical benefits of shutting off the games and tv there is a mental and emotional benefit as well. When your not vegging out in front of electronics you interact with the people around you. You talk more, you do a wider range of activites to fill the time. Your connect with those important to you much better…….Great Post!

great post, it is hard for me to be quiet in the grocery store when i see obese kids with their parents and carts full of junk!! i was in the juice isle a while back, which is also the cookie isle.Go Figure!! but a child grabed a box of 100 calorie pack oreo’s and said i want these! the mom said no, 100 calories are not enough and reached across to grab a whole pack of oreos which a like 160 calories for two cookies!! i wanted to smake some sense into her!! this is a subject that needs tons of solders to creat a revolution!! Great Post!!

I’ve seen those kids and their parents.

Our daughter shows little interest in playing outside. She plays but not active stuff like we would like her too. We’d like her to eat more to make sure she gets good nutrition, but apparently she has a balance that works for her, but is falling behind in the size-to-age curve. It means she’s not fat, but I hope that’s not going to bite her in the butt later.

We used to have an X-box a couple of years back. My wife and i gained weight and my oldest son watched us sit for hours playing halo. now we battle with him trying to play his NDS for as long as he can possibly do it. So, we don’t have any game consoles now, wifey cooks as healthy as possible, and my boy is only allowed 1 serving at the dinner table. also, when his sister goes outside to play, I kick him out too. I feel u on this bro.
