Start Over.

June 16, 2008

I don’t really want to write this blog, but I ****ed up this weekend.

I don’t think much needs to be said, except for maybe what I did.

Since it was Father’s Day, and I’m broke as shit, I decided that it would be the best thing I could do for my dad to come with on a trip to various casinos in the area.  In doing so, I had no money to gamble with, and every time I wanted a meal, I had to some how come up with money to do so…not happening.  So I kinda had to take what I could get, even though I knew it was a bad idea.

It’s a new week.

What to do?

June 13, 2008

So, it’s Friday and I’ve almost made it through an entire week of cutting.  I’m starting to get to the point now where I feel that I need to do more, but at the same time I’m thinking doing more will be counterproductive in recovery on my part.  Going back to previous times of cutting, though, I can see myself using that as an excuse, which it probably is today also.

Yesterday started out good with the sun out and all, but my diet turned to shit kind of quickly after that.  Not that it went horribly wrong, but I just wasn’t happy with it.  I probably only got down about 96 oz. of water, the time between meals was either too short or too long, and I found myself using regular salad dressing and eating a couple of 5 oz. steaks (at different times in the day).  I think the main problem was that my intentions were good, but we just didn’t have much around the house here to facilitate a healthy diet for me.

Today is a new day.

Here Comes The Sun…

June 12, 2008

It’s about damn time!

So, the fun is finally out.  For how long?  Probably a couple of hours, seriously, but anyways cutting is going pretty good for me as of being 4 days in.  I’ve already lost about 6-7 pounds within that 4 day period with–I hope–90% of that being water weight.  I’ve been quite successful in getting down 6-7 meals a day.  If I were to critique myself as of right now, I’d say that it wouldn’t hurt to be a little more intense on my cardio and to eat a wider range of healthy, unprocessed foods.

I’ve got a few more weeks ahead of me on this mini-journey, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it will take me.

Where’s the Sun?

June 11, 2008

Yet another shitty day in Bemidji, MN.  I don’t really let it get to me, but one of the things that annoys me the most is when the weather is continually wet and cold.  If the sun is out, the wind is blowing at 40+ MPH.  Anyways, I’m done bitching.  I guess this just means that I can concentrate more on my diet and exercise today and not be distracted by the nice weather outside (yay!).  Yesterday, I did a combination of the stationary bicycle and the treadmill, for a combined total of 50 minutes of cardio.  I’ll probably spend more time today concentrating on doing abs, and then complimenting them with a half hour on the treadmill, or so.  Speaking of working out, I really need to go get something to eat…

Back Home

June 10, 2008

The last time I had typed anything up on here, I was still at school.  Now, after a one-month hiatus from BodySpace (yet again!), I’m settled in at home and getting back on track.  I’m going to try to do this blog every day, tracking my food intake, workouts and, of course, my bad habits that need fixing.  So, by 9AM, I plan to be jumping on the treadmill for a bit…and the journey begins…

Inspiration

April 3, 2008

So, the last couple of day’s I’ve been freaking out over writing some essays–nothing new, I guess, but my workouts definitely were affected.

Last night, though, I was just browsing the photos on my computer and came across some pictures I had taken almost a year ago–when I worked at a gym.  I then looked at the most recent pictures I had been taking of myself and saw that I had lost some of my hard-earned work since college had started.

Anyways, enough about that–I’ve been doing a pretty good job, I think, at taking in enough water each day, as well as taking my supplements each day.  I’m still working on getting 6-7 meals in each day, though.  I still want to get more intense in the gym, but I’m thinking that I need to try something new, because walking down to the gym telling myself to have a good workout can only get me so far.  I’m thinking that after school is over I’m going to have to find a workout partner that’s also serious.  Anyone in the Bemidji, MN area that’s interested, hit me up.

Anyways, I should probably go to class right now.

From Sun to Snow

March 31, 2008

So, yesterday I was enjoying mid-40 degree temperatures–which, for Minnesota, is pretty good for the end of March.  Today, however, I woke up to 2 inches of snow already on the ground, with 3-6 more inches expected by the storms end.

Along with yesterday’s sun, for me, came a lot of energy and a good workout.  I spent a good 90 minutes in the gym (speaking of which, I need to post my workout from yesterday online) hitting the chest, while also making sure to continue increasing the intensity on my cardio workouts.

Today, though, I’ve only got a couple of hours to spare until I have to go volunteer at the college news station and after that I’ve got to go do some freelance graphic design work for a few hours.  I hope to be back to campus around 8 or 9 tonight so I can get into the gym for another 90 minutes.

So, in general, I’m relatively happy with how things are going with my diet and exercise habits as of the last couple weeks.  I’m just taking the steps gradually so I don’t wear myself out too quick like I’ve done in the past.  I hope to improve on the following things by months end, though:

1) Cardio still needs to be ramped up a decent amount.
2) More thorough planning into my diet
3) More thorough planning into my exercise routine
4) More bodyweight exercises
5) More abdominal work (a lot, I’ve been very lax the last…9 months! — almost :O)

That’s all I’ve got for now, I want to write more, but have to get on to some other priorities.

Phase 2 — Take 2

March 29, 2008

The last couple of weeks have been major stepping stones for me in getting into the swing of things, but at the same time I have encountered some setbacks as well.
I’ll first start with the things that I have had pretty good control of the last couple of weeks:

1) Getting enough sleep
2) Eating clean
3) Getting to the gym
4) Drinking enough water

The things I haven’t done so well the past couple of weeks:

1) Portion size
2) Number of meals per day
3) Workouts haven’t been as intense as usual
4) Supplement intake is scattered

In general, I think I’m on the right track–but have a lot more work to do to get where I want to.  Over the next couple of weeks, I would propose to myself to carry a 32-ounce water bottle on me at all times and to set some reminders on my phone/computer as to when I should take some supplements and when I should go eat.  I also think that taking a closer look at what I’m eating pre-workout and post-workout is a good idea and that some refining could be done there to maximize my gains.

If there were to be one thing reigning over top of everything else, though, (for me right now anyways) it would have to be the school work that is piling up.

To take a stab at that today, I plan to head down to the gym within the hour–and to then to the library after my workout.

I’m definitely open to any suggestions if anyone is willing to comment, feel free.

Phase 2

March 12, 2008

Not sure why I’m calling this "Phase 2," but what I have tried in the past hasn’t really worked, so maybe this will be my new motivation, we’ll see!

Let’s see, how many strikes do I have going against myself today?

-Woke up late.
-Haven’t eaten–yet.
-Worked out in my dorm–not at the gym.
-Haven’t done anything–besides working out and computing.

That’s usually how every day is for me.  Today is the start of me changing those things.  Even if I can wake up a little bit earlier each day, I’ll be happy.

To make the most out of the rest of my day; I plan to eat around 3:30, go to class at 5, eat during break (@6), go pick up my friend after class (@8), eat, go do some freelance graphic design work around 8:30; do a little homework, afterwards (around midnight, I hope); protein shake (around 12:30), bed.

We’ll see if I can stick to it, if not, I’ll be putting everything into my iCal and setting alarms, I guess!
