Marathon anyone???

So, I have found a love for running, so I decided to have an experience and signed myself up for a marathon.  I have been training hard and have about 18 weeks left before the big 26 miler.  My first week of JUST running kicked my BUTT, who would have thought it required so much physical effort to run 20 miles a week, the I read that elite marathoners run 100 miles a week, uh so not something I want to do.  But I AM SO excited about my training and FINISHING a 26.2 miler!!!

 P.S.-STILL sore, my hamstrings are killing me!!! But pain is weakness leaving the body right?

    yeah for you!!! i ran a marathon 4 years ago next month. take it slow… eat REALLY well.. and for ur first one, just set the goal of finishing.. not worry about time.. and have a blast! it should be.. if it’s not, don’t do it! :) something that i did was have family posted along the route to cheer.. that was soooo helpful.. and my husband even ran the last 4 miles with me.. he just couldn’t run across the finish line.. i’m not sure i would have made it without him with me! :) most marathons will allow people to run with u.. just not across the finish line.. :) oh and this is a silly one.. i wrote my name on the front of my hat so when spectactors cheered, they called my name.. such a psychological bonus!! :) i’m looking forward to seeing ur progress! keep me posted. :)

    you will LOVE the feeling of going across the finish line…the first time I did it, I became so emotional that my nose tingled!! Remember this:only 1% of the population can actually say that they have run a marathon!!! Enjoy! The best advice I have:
    DONT EVER miss your long run
    make sure to stay hydrated
    eat lots of carbs prior and during(I couldn t eat, so I would have gatorade and soda crackers) You can break up a bar into pieces.
    Ibuprofin is your friend!!!
    best advice of all(I found out the hard way) :make sure you LUBE UP(between legs, all around sports bra, and underarm(chafing of the arm on the underam top)
