Hi!! I’ve a few minutes before I head out to train a few clients today so I’m sitting in bed with my new laptop. FINALLY broke down and bought one!!
There’s so much to update, living in the Spokane Washington area now. It’s pretty but I sure miss San Diego. More than that, I miss my mom, World Gym and BLUE SKIES. =(
I’ve finally gotten that elusive dream job as a personal trainer and it’s quite a bit different than I anticipated. That is due largely in part to working with clients that aren’t really passionate about fitness but usually doing it because they have to. They are all wonderful in their own ways and I have forged some really good relationships from these pairings but when I get someone who’s athletic and wants their butt kicked…those are my best sessions! I’ve learned so much and learned that I don’t know much at the same time. Wow.
As for my training, my workouts have suffered some due to being at the gym so long, when it’s over, I just wanna leave! Talked to Gina and she gave me some good insight into how to cope with my training and scheduling clients around my day not vice versa. It’s helped a lot!. Speaking of Gina, she’s got her DVD out now…going to order it this week, I’ll do a review when I get it from her. I’m really excited, the previews on her website look really good!
I’ve got a new love in my life…her name is Velvette. She was 6 weeks old when we got her. She’s a Basset-Labrador, adorable!! She’s now 4 months of pure energy and endless adventures.
Well, that’s all for now. I’ll be back more regularly, time to prep some meals before I head to work!

Hey!! I’m back for a second. I had a great birthday thanks to my wonderful husband! We saw Kenny Chesney in concert then took off for a wonderful weekend in the mountains. It was such a relaxing weekend, wish everyday could be like that.
I’ve not been in the gym more than 3 days a week, just not super motivated these days. Which is fine by me, my weight is stable at 147, about 7 lbs higher than I want for my off season but that’ll change after I get back training and doing my cardio regularly. Right now though, I have a new love…
that MOTORCYCLE!!
Oh my gosh, it’s such a wonderful feeling riding. I completed my motorcycle safety course last weekend through the CHP. I’d HIGHLY recommend that course to anyone who is new to riding. I’ve never ridden a motorcycle before and after crashing her on the first day I got her, I wasn’t too impressed or willing to try again. But, I HAD to give it a GOOD FAITH EFFORT OF LEARNING TO RIDE. After the course, I’m riding her on my own now to work. Not quite freeway ready yet but to be able to just put my feet on the foot rest is huge! My hubs and I went on our first ride together last night, on separate bikes!
Anyway, we’re prepping to move to Spokane WA here in about two weeks so I may be in and out. One of my first plans there though is to find a new gym home and get back in the saddle, commuting on my Mighty Max!!
Take care and I’ll be back when can I separate myself from my bike.

I’m on top of the world! Why? I dunno, just am!! =)
My husband has gone over the top for this year: a new motorcycle, tickets to the Kenny Chesney Concert tonight and a romantic weekend trip to a cabin in the mountains.
It’s been a great year….two great placings at my first figure competitions, did my first photohoot ever (and loved it), got my CPT, and it’s only June…!
Yepper, LaLa’s Loving Life!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend, I’ll check in next week!

It’s Tuesday and I’m happy Dancing again! Wow, I feel so relaxed and happy I hardly know what do to do with myself!!
Let’s talk about the show real quick before I head to work. First, it was a very well organized show and they worked very hard to keep on schedule, which they did! I enjoyed meeting a lot of new faces back stage, especially the newly crowned Ms. California Sara from Denver. She brought a flawless package to the stage and totally deserved the overall title. Her personality equals her looks, she’s friggin awesome and alot of fun! I’ll have the pleasure of seeing her at the nationals soon (I hope, though it wont be this year). I saw my friend Carrie Simmons, she’s so awesome!! That was great to finally meet her in person! My friend Roz rocked the stage doing well in her class and bringing home more 619 Brass. I also got to share the stage with my mentor of some 9 years now, Traci Saba, didn’t know she was competing! That was too cool. I saw other friends, Selma McPherson who didn’t compete but looked GOOD, Kim Harris over at the MetRx booth, Molly and her hubster, Michael and his wife who looked super smokin in these black pants she got from Pete Ciccone’s store (I’m buying a pair of those next week!), Luc, Paul, Mike and Big John who looked awesome and brought home some Brass in the men’s bodybuilding.
As for my placings, I got second place in the Masters and Tall Class F. I dont’ really know what to say about what the judges told me, other than I did as I was told and was penalized for it. Go figure! I was told that my presentation was too boring and I needed more glutes and hamstrings. Well, my coach instructed me to UNDER POSE and UNDER TRAIN, walk slowly, turn slowly…basically everything the opposite to what I did in the San Diego Show that won me that title and in doing so it cost me at least a running in the overall title. Lol, it’s all good. I know what worked the first show and come the beginning of the year…it’s on!!
After the show, we ditched the traditional (every one flock to the cheesecake factory) and went to iHop instead. Oh wow….I had the T-Bone Steak and eggs (whites), hashbrowns, 3 cups of coffee and 3 pancakes (with the strawberry syrup). Since I was raised in Los Angeles, we actually chose one that my mom and I used to go to as a kid…it was quite fun reminiscing with her, realizing it had been about 30 years (yeah, I said THIRTY) since we’d last eaten there. I woke up Sunday RIPPED. I LOVE THAT!! LOL.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the last 13 months of dieting, training and learning but am damned glad it’s over. My husband and I got to spend some quality time just lounging wherever our bodies fell on Sunday after my photo shoot. Those photos will be added to my myspace soon, I’ll let ya know when they’re up. We went for a walk and had coffee together (instead of me just watching him drink). Yesterday we went to the mall where I bought him a few things for his photo shoot tomorrow and then took him to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. It was a date! This Friday, Saturday and Sunday we can be found in a quaint little cabin in the Idyllwild mountains, lounging, playing chess, reading books and just getting reacquainted. I’m excited!! =)
All in all, life is good. I’m excitedly looking forward to getting back in the gym and starting to put on some muscle and fine tune things for next year but I’m taking a full 7-10 days off completely to recoup and regroup.
In typing this I’m realizing that in 6 weeks I’m moving away from all of this…makes me wanna cry but we’ll save those sad feelings for another day, now, it’s time to celebrate my personal victory!
Make it a great day and keep fit!!
Much Love,

Had the wind knocked out of my sails last evening, had me in a crying fit before I left the office. Something to do with the new judging criterion and my conditioning. Went home, had a meal…went for a long drive while I contemplated quitting…
3 days to go and I’m more fired up and ready to rock than I was yesterday.

It’s funny how the diet gets easier closer to the competition. I love that aspect. I’m so locked on mentally, it’s wonderful! Seems to have happened over night, last week I was so flat and disinterested, this morning….so ready!
I’m excited to be able sharing the stage with Roz again, we competed together in ‘04 at the Muscle Madness (ABA) competition. She looks AWESOME! I may also get to meet someone I’ve talked to online for a long time but never had the pleasure of actually seeing (Carrie Simmons).
Knocked out a half hour of cardio and an upperbody circuit this morning. Have 30 more minutes this evening. Then I get to go home, prep meals for tomorrow and to sleep, awaken and repeat. =) I have to check-in tomorrow morning on my weight and photos (I’ll post). I’ve lost 2.5 lbs since Sunday, two gallons of water is a mutha to drink…
I feel really good, relaxed. I was stressing over where I might place…wow, does it REALLY matter to THAT degree?! =) Enjoy the ride LaLa, enjoy the ride.
See ya manana!

Well, here we are. Just a matter of days until my journey for ‘08 ends and I start looking forward to improving for ’09s season. I’m staying with Gina as my nutritionist even after I move to Washington State (dance with the one who brought you).
My hubby got me a little something as a way of congratulating me on staying my course through all of the hardships and never losing sight of the goal.
Here’s a photo of my hubby’s bike, with mine.
Win, lose or draw on stage come this Saturday, I have truly WON many small battles along the way.
A girl is truly happy to be done dieting for a while though, after a year and a month, my body is EXHAUSTED and in need of some TLC.
Ciao for now….
Oh, I’ll put up some photos from my last updates.

For the past 2.5 weeks, I have been eating and sleeping with my personal trainer manual in preparation of taking my CPT certification exam.
Traveled this past wekend to Westlake Village, CA to attend an ISSA seminar taught by Dr. Jack Barnathan (incredible instructor, luv ‘em).
I took my exam on Sunday. I passed! Now, I’m looking to get the NSCA-CPT and call it good, but that’s next year. Now the focus is the Cal…
5 Weeks and counting.
