Post Show Wrap Up…
It’s Tuesday and I’m happy Dancing again! Wow, I feel so relaxed and happy I hardly know what do to do with myself!!
Let’s talk about the show real quick before I head to work. First, it was a very well organized show and they worked very hard to keep on schedule, which they did! I enjoyed meeting a lot of new faces back stage, especially the newly crowned Ms. California Sara from Denver. She brought a flawless package to the stage and totally deserved the overall title. Her personality equals her looks, she’s friggin awesome and alot of fun! I’ll have the pleasure of seeing her at the nationals soon (I hope, though it wont be this year). I saw my friend Carrie Simmons, she’s so awesome!! That was great to finally meet her in person! My friend Roz rocked the stage doing well in her class and bringing home more 619 Brass. I also got to share the stage with my mentor of some 9 years now, Traci Saba, didn’t know she was competing! That was too cool. I saw other friends, Selma McPherson who didn’t compete but looked GOOD, Kim Harris over at the MetRx booth, Molly and her hubster, Michael and his wife who looked super smokin in these black pants she got from Pete Ciccone’s store (I’m buying a pair of those next week!), Luc, Paul, Mike and Big John who looked awesome and brought home some Brass in the men’s bodybuilding.
As for my placings, I got second place in the Masters and Tall Class F. I dont’ really know what to say about what the judges told me, other than I did as I was told and was penalized for it. Go figure! I was told that my presentation was too boring and I needed more glutes and hamstrings. Well, my coach instructed me to UNDER POSE and UNDER TRAIN, walk slowly, turn slowly…basically everything the opposite to what I did in the San Diego Show that won me that title and in doing so it cost me at least a running in the overall title. Lol, it’s all good. I know what worked the first show and come the beginning of the year…it’s on!!
After the show, we ditched the traditional (every one flock to the cheesecake factory) and went to iHop instead. Oh wow….I had the T-Bone Steak and eggs (whites), hashbrowns, 3 cups of coffee and 3 pancakes (with the strawberry syrup). Since I was raised in Los Angeles, we actually chose one that my mom and I used to go to as a kid…it was quite fun reminiscing with her, realizing it had been about 30 years (yeah, I said THIRTY) since we’d last eaten there. I woke up Sunday RIPPED. I LOVE THAT!! LOL.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the last 13 months of dieting, training and learning but am damned glad it’s over. My husband and I got to spend some quality time just lounging wherever our bodies fell on Sunday after my photo shoot. Those photos will be added to my myspace soon, I’ll let ya know when they’re up. We went for a walk and had coffee together (instead of me just watching him drink). Yesterday we went to the mall where I bought him a few things for his photo shoot tomorrow and then took him to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. It was a date! This Friday, Saturday and Sunday we can be found in a quaint little cabin in the Idyllwild mountains, lounging, playing chess, reading books and just getting reacquainted. I’m excited!! =)
All in all, life is good. I’m excitedly looking forward to getting back in the gym and starting to put on some muscle and fine tune things for next year but I’m taking a full 7-10 days off completely to recoup and regroup.
In typing this I’m realizing that in 6 weeks I’m moving away from all of this…makes me wanna cry but we’ll save those sad feelings for another day, now, it’s time to celebrate my personal victory!
Make it a great day and keep fit!!
Much Love,
~Chocol8
