Checking in a week after getting back on track

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008
Hey BB.com! It’s been a great week, been relaxing, picking up so new clients (man, where did they come from all of a sudden?).
Been learning a lot in and outof the gym. I’ve totally revamped my training style to avoid adding more muscle. I like this a lot, it’s fun with lots of variety, very challenging though. I was sucking wind last night doing bike sprints. It’s nice not to have to worry so much about adding muscle, which I love to do but aside from my calves, it’s all good.
I finally got my photos from the show, some of them were really nice! Some of them were like “what in the world was I thinking about during THAT moment?”.
The diet has been kicked back a few notches, clean but lots more food (grrrr baby)! The water retention is starting to subside (finally) and I can almost see cuts in my quads again, that’s great for 9 weeks out from the next show, 16 from the USA’s.
Someone asked me if I’m as excited as I was the day I won…I wasn’t exactly excited…THAT WAS SHOCK. Now, I’m excited to see what limits I can push in transforming my physique even more. I have a definite goal, which I’ll be putting on the cork board next to the countdown calendar at home.
I’ll start back with my photo updates in about two weeks.
Meal #5 then it’s to train a lady who recruited me at the show.
Keeping striving for your personal best…it’s a wonderful journey.

What the …so this is water retention?!

Thursday, March 20th, 2008
Ugh!! Lol, this is a new experience, one I think I’ll skip next time! *** nods head and looks down for non existent ankle bones***
Oh well, such is life. Things are good. Back on track with the diet today, and starting cardio again. Still not lifting this week though. We’ll be working to streamline my physique even more. I notice on my diet sheet that she’s switched up my ratios a bit since I’m leaner this time around. Interesting to watch the process, learning tons!
My favorite headphones went belly up yesterday so now I’m using those little ear buds that come with the iPod…it’s lime green, (like my car). I hate those buds.
I’ve started reading a book, As a Man Thinketh by James Allen, will share my thoughts on that as I progress through the chapters.
That’s all for now, just enjoying being back in the gym and headed towards another goal. I’m excited about my training as I’ve been giving a LOT of thought about what I want to incorporate for more conditioning. It’s gonna be fun, but hard work.
TTYS!!

Back in the Saddle

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Got the world from lady G tonight that I’m back in the training zone starting tomorrow. Feels good to know I can get back to working on my physique though I realize time off and recovery is needed after such an agressive dieting/training season.

Want to give a special shout out to GoFigure1908, she’s a true sweetheart, thank you for such a wonderful correspondence! Best of luck to you as you start your prep next week.

3:30 am comes early around here…catch up later!

13 hours until the Competitor Briefing

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Today has been an incredibly busy day. I did something I haven’t done in months: SLEPT IN UNTIL 7 AM. I felt lost not having to go do cardio!  =)

My recent days have been filled with ups and downs but mostly just a wonderful sense of calm at knowing that I’ve arrived, win, lose or draw…I completed the race set before me.  I’ve learned to actually enjoy eating foods without salt…and sugar. This was such a giant obstacle for me to overcome. With this securely tucked away, the next prep will be so much easier to walk away from the things that keep my physique from being optimal. This was the second largest obstacle I had to overcome. The first was myself image issues…. The third was my style of training and being concerned about weight and losing muscle….  Awwww, sookie sookie now!!  =)

I weighed in tihs morning at 130.6. Still trying to cut more water by morning…

There’s so much more to be said but I have to prep food for my last meal tonight and meals tomorrow. i still have to pack my things and paint my toesies…

So, next time I check in will be after the prejudging…

Can’t help

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008
but think ahead to May’s competition. I’m already contemplating my strategy(ies) for bringing up my lagging body parts…and how to enjoy my food AND stay on track nutritionally to keep losing the last bit of body fat on my thighs. That’s where John Berardi’s Performance Nutrition Program is probably going to come into play, I ordered his cookbook today (Thanks Beby….), I hope it’s here for Saturday evening. I was planning on eating out, (pigging out is more like it) but I’m rather going to stick to the tried and true, have a good pleasant meal but stay clean(er) than that 4X4 from In-N-Out burger witht he Fries and Strawberry shake I was thinking about….
But, into the here and now,it’s Tuesday before the show and I’m feeling pretty darned spiffy! =)  Thanks Beby (as always)!
I’m really looking forward to the show and haven’t gotten a case of the nerves yet. Actually, quite the opposite (which is a wonderful surprise and change from times past). I hope to get some photos in my suits before the show to show my ‘conditioning’ prior to carbing up this weekend.
The cardio is starting to taper off and I have my last upper body circuit tomorrow. I’m VERY happy about that! =) My legs have cuts I have NEVER seen before, I wasn’t this lean when I was bodybuilding (hmmmmm).
Have to give madd luv to my husband and son who have been putting up with one helluva bitchy woman for the past two weeks. Thanks guys and I’m really sorry (can’t help it but I promise to make THE lasagna on Sunday as a peace offering).
I’ve had lots of support from friends here on BB.com, friends at the gym, family and co-workers (Matt, my ever lurking food monitor (luv ya for it!). It’s amazing to me how much goes into preparing for something like this, I had no idea. And to think, this is amateur level, first show….wow!
Be back before Saturday…promise!
