Trained w/LeLe

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007
Trained this morning with my girl LeLe, we hit hamstrings & glutes pretty good. I’m sure to be feeling this tomorrow.
Did my cardio this morning but ran a little short on time so I’ll have to make up the difference this evening before bed. The diet is going well, I’m feeling wonderful without being starved or bloated.
(Looking out my office window, there’s an aircraft carrier pulling into SD, I wonder which one it is).
Tonight I plan to start my pilates and stretching routine. I also upped my JP+ to 6×6 of the Orchard and Garden Blends. Gotta keep the fruits and veggies coming (without the sugar and calories, gotta love it!).
Off to rummage through my back for some chow!

Got Arnold’s Autograph!!

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007
Ok, I’m sooooooo stoked! I was able to get Arnold “The Governator” Schwarzeneggar’s autograph this afternoon while he was visiting our Client’s office for a press conference.
His words upon seeing a tattered copy of his book, The Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding, “You’ve got some good reading there.”
<em />
Corny I know but I was totally happy to be able to meet him.

Time for Meal #5….

Cardio at 4:10 am!!

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

I made it out of bed and down to the garage for the cardio this morning (woot woot!). Now, I’m preparing to have breakfast and then dash to the gym for arm training before work. =)

Met with G yesterday to updates and revisions. My measurements on my hips and thighs have gone down by 3/4" (more happy dancing (notice I do that a LOT?)). My weight is stable at 151 but the body fat is going DOWN!  We also adjusted my training schedule to have Sundays off, the gym is toooooo dead to find any motivation so just stay home after church! We’ve also introduce carb cycling into the mix…

I’m feeling good today, got a bit of rest last night and am ready to TRRRRRRRAIN!

Ok, I’m back and all I can say is I GOT ERRRR DUNNN TODAY!! What a great session! I’m at work and prepping for meal #3 (gotta love being able to eat so much!).

I have The Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding by Arnold Schwarzenegger. I’ve had it for six years now, I hoping to get it autographed today as we found out yesterday he’ll be visiting our offices later this afternoon! Wish me luck!

XOXOXO,

Chocol8

ETA: That autograph is looking HIGHLY probable!! =)

Happy Monday!

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Happy Monday!! Well, it was a really good weekend (both at home and at the gym)!

The fires are kinda settling down though things are far from normal around town. For us, there’s little impact, it’s others in the community that are feeling more of the effects of things.

Friday the hubby and I went to El Cajon to check out parts for his motorcycle and I found this really nice Honda Shadow (had already been purchased though). It’s silver and black, clean ride! I hope to get one before we move next year, that would such a blast!

As for training, I hit legs really good on Saturday. The training is starting to fall into a groove now, it’s good because I REALLY hated the ‘floundering around’ feeling every time I walked through the doors. My weight is still hovering at about 151 lbs.  I had a chance to talk to Lisa Bickels for a few minutes at the gym, she was training legs. It’s pretty cool to have finally gotten to see her OFF the stage. She had some useful advice (which is always a bonus!) Sunday was lower back, abs and calves, not much fun there but I got through it without griping too much!  I blasted shoulders this morning with a heavier workout than usual. It felt good to move some challenging weight while still staying with higher reps (than I would normally do (8-10).

Everything is going well so far, the dieting and training are coming together. There’s only 207 days till show time! (ok, I know it’s a bit early to start counting down but….) =)

Ciao!

Training…like a breath of fresh air!

Friday, October 26th, 2007
I’m BAAAAAACK!! I whipped out my cardio this morning and then annihilated shoulders. The workout started slow but my intensity picked up as I went along. I priorities anterior and posterior delts, going a bit heavier than usual on the weights
Nothing else new to report here, still waiting on my Thermorhoric to get here….(taps toe impatiently!). =)
I may or may not blog on the weekend so, everyone be safe and TRAIN LIKE HARD!
XOXOXO!!

Bouncing off the walls

Thursday, October 25th, 2007
Ok, it’s been Sunday/Monday since I hit the weights, I’m so not feeling this time off thing. Tomorrow morning, I’m back in the gym, even if I have to wear a gas mask (that should be sexy with my Bria Brazil hot pink outfit).
Things are quieting down a bit here but much clean up to be done still. So far, none of our friends have suffered any major losses during the firestorm (on girl had her son’s cat run away so we’re still waiting to see if that crazy feline shows up). Tomorrow I’m training Shoulders & Rear Delts, could ask for a better combo coming off of 3 days rest!
My diet has been bouncing all over the place this week with all of the stresses going on. I’m only up 1 lb but it feels like 5! I’m doing a lot better with it today. I have to start eating peanut butter (why do people love that stuff so much?). Oh well, such is life!
I have to wait 30 days since I’m doing the Thermophoric test, then I’ll be adding some Biotest products into the rotation. Now, if I can remember to take the ZMAs before bed….
Oh, I’m REALLY close to being ready to take the Personal Trainer Certification Exam!! Woot, woot!!
Make it a great Thursday! XOXOXO!

Taking a few days off…

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007
Well, maybe. My gym, World in PB doesn’t have an air system and with the air quality levels being so low due to the fires, I’m contemplating taking the rest of the week as ‘time off’. However, I guess I could go to 24 Hour Fitness since I still have a membership there. We’ll see.
Thank you to those who have written inquiring of my well being. My family and I are all safe and sound (although my mother has been able to see flames from her balcony periodically). It’s just maddening with the disruptions to everyone’s lives here. I guess there are two casualties of the fire now… =(
On a note of training, I will be going the Spectra Force -Thermophoric testing for a month once the sample arrives. I already love this stuff but it’ll be interesting to see what it really can do when coupled with a good nutrition and training plan. I’ll post a link to my log once I get it started.
Trying not to melt the Chocol8!  =)

As the City Burns…

Monday, October 22nd, 2007
Yeah, sunny San Diego isn’t that glamorous today with it’s hazy smoked filled skies. =(  Fortunately, where we live, there almost no chance whatsoever of evacuating due to the fires but I still feel very badly for our neighbors who aren’t as fortunate. I can think of 5 families that I know of personally that were evactuated overnight.
As the muscles burn…had a good weight training weekend. I’m starting to adjust to the changes Gina’s implementing in my lifting routine. It’s pretty cool, we’ve upped my carbs and my body is looking leaner, the hubs even noticed this morning! =)
On Saturday I hit legs with what I thought was a pretty hard workout, VERY LITTLE residual soreness though that’s not uncommon for me. Introduced hanging knee raises for abs, now THOSE ARE NOT FUN.
Been doing more spinning again for cardio & leg toning, my little wheels are TIRED.
Tomorrow is arm day, EZ workout!
Missed going to the Border States on Saturday unfortunately. I hear that Team 619Muscle cleaned up (again and as usual). I want to Congratulate my Friend Molly who entered her first figure comp and placed 4th, I told ya you were hot like fiyah!! =)  Congrats to everyone who competed, regardless of placing, it’s always an awesome experience - the journey to the show.
I’m out, food is calling!
XOXO,

From Bodybuilding to Figure

Thursday, October 18th, 2007
Why I made the switch…
Last Friday I celebrated my 8th year in fitness. I’ve loved virtually every minute of it and would NOT undo those years if I had the chance.
The biggest reward I’ve seen as a result of starting training has been one of self discovery. I think there was a little rebellion in there, some from not wanting to conform to the ‘norm’, to demanding my OWN expression, to wanting to make a statement that I could do WHATEVER I set my mind to, BY MYSELF IF NECESSARY, to being tired of looking like a walking target for abuse. There’s probably more to it too.
In bodybuilding I found that I was my own source of encouragement, destruction and success. I didn’t have to rely on anyone else for anything but being sure the doors were open at the gym on time, I could handle the rest. I’ve been my happiest while sitting in the gym, breathing hard and waiting for the next set.
I guess I’ve switched because I want to bring a different look to myself, less muscular (I don’t really like guys telling me I look like I could kick their arses). And…I don’t have anything to prove anymore, not on that end anyway. Now, I’d like to see what I can do with my physique, working with my girlie-ness (there’s not much) and not taxing my body so hard in the process. I’m a tomboy by nature, my sports in school were track and tennis.  I want to continue this phase of my life with my new husband in a new locale, doing what I love, sharing my passion of fitness with others as a trainer.
So, I’ve switched and it’s hard mentally. I feel like I’m lifting like a girl, no more 100 lb db rows or leg presses with 800+ lbs on the sled. This is where the exchange comes in, instead of training HARDER, I’m training SMARTER and enjoying this leg of the journey…
Wish me luck!

Off My Game Today

Thursday, October 18th, 2007
I’m glad today is a non training day because I just don’t have it in me. =(
The meeting with Gina went well yesterday, she took my measurements (It’s amazing how fat one can feel being next to someone who looks so awesome). My arms unflexed were 12″, she said we’ll have to bring them down…to what? PENCIL LEADS?  Sigh, I CAN do this.
She went through exercises that I need to focus on immediately: abs (hanging abs and crunches but NOTHING with weight due to my development already). Those hanging abs are HARD. I’m not going to like those initially, I already know. For glutes, I’m to do a vertical leg press through my heels, a squeezing motion at the time of a hamstring curl and these weird little squat side ways step thingies. My back training is lower back EXCLUSIVELY with no exercises for back thickness. The other primary area of focus are delts, anterior and posterior heads more urgently than laterals. Due to my traps being rather strong, my anterior delt work will be with incline angles only.
The diet for the next week is staying the same.
I’m in a bit of a mental funk today, hope it breaks by tomorrow morning,  it’s shoulder time!
Make it a great day!
