Smiling just because!

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007
And ya’ll thought I had gotten stuck under a heavy bench press at the gym! Nope! Just been MAD busy and my computer at home has a virus so no internet surfing until I have time to fix the issue.
On a happier note, training has been going well though I’ve been doing myself a little self sabotage during lunch. One of my coworkers has NO health consciousness at all so when we hang out at lunch, it can be pretty bad.  I’m back on track after about 4 days of ‘gee, what do I want to eat today”?
I trained legs today, felt good after not doing so for a while. My right knee gives me trouble sometimes, this morning was a welcomed exception!
Tomorrow is cardio only and then shoulders again on Saturday, Back on Sun.
Oh, the only other major change has been my food choices. I’ve migrated to almost only raw vegetables. Still working on broccoli. I’ve also scaled back my carb meals to being time around my training. Fruits have been incorporated in 3 of my 6 daily meals. I call it “Eating in color”. Gotta save myself from those oxidative stresses!

Happy Dancing for No Reason at all…

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007
Who DOES THAT? Me!! =)
Lol, things are good here in Southern Cali, save the heat and humidity (feels like I died and was sent to Florida). It was HOT in the gym this morning, 5:50 am, 71 degrees on the coast, it just ain’t right.
Well, today’s training was pretty quick, I got out of the house late (was having a talk with the kiddo about condoms and stuff, yeah, we’re cool like that). So, I did a Vince Gironda style workout, I trained shoulders, biceps and triceps in 35 minutes. I did sets of 8 x 8s. My triceps probably got the worst of it though. Then I squeezed in 20 minutes of cardio, I was just bored and needed to leave early to get to work.
But, I can always ride my spinning bike after work for an hour to compensate.
Now, why was I dancing again?…
Just cause I’m alive and happy to be so!

After a long weekend

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007
Yepper, I’m back!! =)
Had a great three day weekend (gotta love working that 9/80 schedule). Friday was pretty uneventful, just hung out, got depressed paying bills and did online surfing for WAYYYYYYY too long.
On Saturday I wanted to switch up my cardio, the inside of that gym drives me crazy sometimes for cardio. So, I said to myself: “Self, let’s put on the polar heart rate monitor and see what happens when we take this walk outside”. So, at 8 am on Saturday I took off with my iPod and some really cool trance traxx and set out to walk about 30 minutes. It’s really nice to live in area that’s not only very clean but safe…makes a girl think she can walk to the end of the world…  So, I take off by the bayside park area and got inspired…I’m gonna go for 45 minutes…Ok….   So, I’m walking, then head over my MCRD, then again up Midway towards Rosecrans. Finally, I say, ya know, I should probably hydrate. After that, it was getting a little warm so I headed back on the same route. I felt AWESOME afterwards! I walked for an hour and 20 minutes, 4.6 miles round trip! I accidentally turned off the heart rate monitor before I could see the calories burned though. (Duh).
On Sunday, I wanted to repeat but wanted to walk longer since it felt so awesome. I took of this time towards North Harbor Drive and walked from Pt. Loma to Downtown. The waterside area is sooooooooooo nice! It’s clean, the breeze was nice! I again stopped after an hour and grabbed some trail mix and a Gatorade. Rested for about 15 minutes then headed back the same way! I arrived home about 2 hours 20 minutes after I left, total walk 7.4 miles. I trained later that evening but was pretty zonked on energy and it was incredibly hot and humid.
Oh, I did check the watch that time though….816 calories burned!  ***woot, woot***
Yesterday I paid for it though, my feet and glutes were a bit sore (understatement). I slept in today but am on track tonight for shoulders and another boring walk on the treadmill.
Life goes on, and it’s getting good because there are 21 days until the love of my life returns home from deployment!!

Oh What a Pain…

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007
in my head! I’ve had a headache for 2 days now, I’m not smiling in the least bit at this point. It’s not a full blown headache but rather one of those that lingers just on the edge of being annoying. It threatens to blind you with numbing pain at the faintest hint of movement or thoughts of heavy lifting. Yeah, it sucks.
I took yesterday off from training, had a throat developing. I opted to sleep in and increase my food intake significantly. It seems to have helped, I feel a LOT better.
I trained legs today in what was a pitiful display of weakness paired with lack of focus. Lol, I went and after about 40 minutes, called it quits. It was decent I guess.
Tomorrow is just another cardio day and then I’ll be back on schedule for Friday. I stopped taking the Atro-Phex (which is partly why I was so draggy this morning), as of Tuesday. Looking to expand my family, I can’t afford to have all these chemicals circulating around my body. I can feel a noteable difference without it, can you say WITHDRAWAL?!!!
Oh well, everything has it’s price. I’ll have to switch for a while to Global Formula stuff that’s more natural. =)

3:37 A.M. and it’s time

Monday, August 13th, 2007

to get my crunch on!! I’m hitting shoulders today after a massive day of carb loading (I have no idea why I ate so much yesterday). I think boredom had a lot to do with it. Oh well, I feel pretty good aside from the early morning headache that’s decided to linger since getting out of bed.

Ok, so if I said I was excited out of my skin that my hubs was going to be home in less than a month would you be surprised?! =)  I feel like I’m getting ready for my biggest show ever with the training, cardio and dieting. It’ll be so nice to settle back into a normal routine that’s not quite so rigorous but for now…grindstone..here I come!

I trained back on Saturday and got a great workout in. I forgot about doing pullups and chins for my ‘wings’ (I thought they were gone). WEll, at the end of the workout…they’re back!! =)  Now, I’m just working on my lower lats primarily to extend them lower.

I’ve revamped the training for the next few weeks, shoulders, arms, legs and chest twice a week (I don’t DARE do back that often, it’ll grow too much). The cardio is upped to an hour a day, two 1/2 hour sessions (I hate going back at night but a girl has GOT to do what she’s got to do!).

It’s taken me 8 minutes to post this, have a great Monday! Time to EAT!

XOXO

Karhdeeooooohhh!

Thursday, August 9th, 2007
Lol, today was abs and 45 minutes of cardio. I’m starting up with two 30 minute sessions a day now for cardio for the next few weeks to kick things into gear. Carb cycling on the heavier carb side for the past two weeks and my physique has thanked me. Now I’m going to drop it back down a notch and see how things fly. I’ve also been off the Lean Out for about a month but my body fat has been steadily dropping albeit slowly.
I’m deciding if I want to do chest or back tomorrow, I ALWAYS want to train back so I’ll do chest and calves! After a rest day that’ll be good.
Can hardly believe the Olympia is so close, I’m excited though there’s been no word on tickets for the military this year. We’re going anyway, gotta support Ms. Aliotti as she tries to get closer to an over all win (how can one person be so damned nice AND gorgeous?).
Overall I’m back in love with training, it’s a nice feeling.

Trained Legs this morning

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007
I was able to overcome my ego and keep it fairly light.  I avoided the walking lunges though (yeah I know)… But there’s always tomorrow so when I hit chest and back, I’ll throw in a few sets before I hit the cardio.
I usually do Zercher squats for my upper thighs but decided on kneeling squats today to work on my hipflexors so I can try regular squats here soon. I think though because of my extra long legs I’m going to have to do the Sumo style instead of a more closed squat. My stiff legged deadlift hasn’t picked up yet, I’m still struggling with 175 lbs (2 measley reps). I guess I shouldn’t complain, my max has always been 180 lbs so I’m close but that’s not quite good enough (what did I say about that ego?).
I hit some Hack Squats (Gironda style) superset with Sissy Squats (that made me wanna say bad things). All in all, a decent training session.
33 days to go before the Hubs is home!!! =)

Bigger Legs?!?

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007
Alright, I have to vent here.
I’ve been Bodybuilding now for 8 years come October 12th. I have always thought my legs wouldn’t grow, wouldn’t do anything but just be fat and kinda shapeless.
I don’t know what the heck I was thinking cause I’ve picked up the weights lately and damn if my pants aren’t going the other way. I have to go back to lifting a little lighter with more reps. There’s something to be said for packing 700 lbs on the leg press and just giving it my all but I want THEM just a little SMALLER. The good news is that my hips are narrowing out a bit but the thighs, THE THIGHS!! ***RUNS N a CIRCLE SCREAMING***
Oh well, back to those dreaded walking lunges. I think I should probably back off the stepmill too (nah).
Did a killer workout this morning, shoulders and arms with 30 minutes of cardio.Tomorrow is legs…light, think light…
I’m loving the modified hacksquats I’ve been doing though, my tear drop is finally starting to show a lump under the remaining adipose stuff. It’s gonna be a long road to get my legs cut but it’s well worth the trip.
Ciao for now!

Messin’ with that Atro-Phex…

Monday, August 6th, 2007
Took 3 of those things on Saturday thinking it would be alright…uh—no!! Stick with two, La, stick with 2!!
Training is going very well. Now that I’ve relapsed (happily) to old habits and starting pushing some weight in the gym, I’m LOVING lifting again! =)
Went to the Padre game Friday night and saw Bond’s hit his 755 homer. It was pretty awesome to see all the camera flashes around the stadium. After that, the pitcher walked him the rest of the game (chickenshit).
Great weekend over all, got to see a friend play stickball. Interesting and cool crowd.
I’m modifying my routine for the next few weeks, 2 on/2 off split. Pretty demanding but it’s just to jump start some muscle growth.
See under the iron!
