Stoning your own competition suit tips/instructions

I got asked for tips from a few on how to stone suits since i did some stoning on mine so i decided to compile a blog giving tips/instructions that will help others as well. It will save you some money and it will be your unique creation :)

Stones
I have ordered stones from http://www.tamisplace.com/

She is awesome and ships out FAST, very reasonable prices too.

I have also ordered from http://www.dreamtimecreations.com/

I prefer the first site, the second site i believe sells the broche things that go in the middle of the top if you wanted to add some bling to the 2 piece if it doesn’t have it. I did that with my burgundy 2 piece. I wouldn’t order any stones smaller than 10ss as they are really hard to work with and i used e6000 glue to apply the stones. I also searched on the web for suits that i thought were nice and easy to kind of imitate and give me ideas for my design. You can order different colors, shapes and sizes. The most common stone color is crystal clear (i work mostly with just flat back stones).

Things to have ready when you get ready to stone your suit.

1. cardboard box big enough to stretch your suit around to keep it taut (i used a priority box).

2. Some stones facing down ready to be picked up and applied.

3. washcloth to wipe off excess glue.

4. toothpicks to clean around stones (you do want to surround the stone with a little bit of excess glue to make sure it doesn’t come off easy though especially when you go to wash your suit).

5. Only do small sections at a time and don’t leave the glue tube open for long times as it will dry out. I would squeeze out a little in something capped so i would get some with a toothpick to apply to the stones. I would let the section that i applied stones with dry for at least an hour before beginning another section.
*Another tip: Most suits can be washed in Woolite if no instructions are on your suit. I would not recommend having it drycleaned or put in the washer.

I hope this helps! That is pretty much what i could remember. Stoning the suit while prepping helped me keep my mind off food and it was fun doing, although a bit tedious at times, but you can be proud of your work on the suit regardless. I have a video on my page where i showed my one piece on the box and how it came along, i don’t think at that point that it was finished, but you can get an idea. Good luck and get your bling on!

Thank you Chica. When the time comes I want to "stone" my own suit. These tips will help. I know I’ve seen a picture of your suit before, but I would love to see a close up of it to give me a general idea, would you post a pic for me?

Not a problem, i uploaded some pics of the suit i stoned. I’m going to add more stones to the sides of the cups to make it look nicer and may add some more in the torso section. Might as well :)
