Going strong so far for my first week of cutting!

My diet has been 100% and so have my workouts. I LOVE going to the gym! I look forward to it and can’t wait to see how much more i can up the weights. Today was shoulders and i did pretty good, but thought i could have gone heavier on the arnold presses (just started doing this today to mix up my workout). I love seeing my delts in the mirror when i’m working them hard! Now only if they would show really good when i’m not flexing or working out. One day! Gotta be patient. I got in all my supplements and eating is right on! I’m currently at around 1600 calories so i’m assuming i can still build some muscle. I get in around 100-125 grams of carbs and around 185 grams of protein. Thats what my trainer recommended for me, so i’m doing it. Now i find that a lot of times, i’m hungry even after eating my meal and it mostly happens during the evening. I’m hanging in there though, maybe my body is asking for more food from the hard workouts? My sis is on a similar plan and she is not hungry at all so not sure what is going on, she is a little smaller than me too. Finished off my workout doing pushups, not the girly ones neither. So my plan is to do some plyo work after my leg days and on upper body days i will finish off with either some regular pushups or some plyo pushups (tried these the other day and they are a bitch!). I also sometimes add in a bit of jump roping in between the plyos. Tomorrow i will be 11 weeks out! I WILL SURVIVE!

WOW, i forgot how much water i had to drink and how many dang potty breaks i had to take! GEEZ!!! People better watch out when i really gotta go bad cause i will be like one of the Wayman brothers in the white chicks movie…hehehe!! You know almost knocking folks out da way and stuff! Drinking only a gallon a day right now and that will be upped closer to my show date though. Here we go!
OK, food is right on and i have been 100% with everything (I miss those Dove dark chocolate covered almonds though), although i think i have been cheating my body out of protein. I have been staying hungry, wtf?? I mean, i weighed stuff to be sure today and i was only off like 2-3oz (could make the world of difference i guess) so now i got it all right. No more guessing stuff! My strength hasn’t been affected too bad in the gym and i feel like the creatine (CEE) before the lifts are really helping with that and with the new higher lift numbers. Ok, so i’m still looking SOOOO FORWARD to a cheat meal! It revved up my metabolism on my last comp prep and i really want some PIZZA!! Dang, i just started cutting this past Sunday…hehe…yeah go ahead and call me a WIMP! BLAH! My body NEEDS FOOD!! Carbs especially! I either lose or gain weight fast depending on my diet and carb consumption, heck my trainer had to up my carbs a bit close to my show due to this little problem.

Training is also going really good, my upper body is still kinda sucky though. I’m really pushing it though…I REALLY HATE WORKING CHEST THOUGH!! UGH!! Is it really necessary for a woman to work the chest really heavy? I just don’t get it. I feel like a man when i do bench presses…LOL. I can handle the cable chest presses though, yeah weird. Legs always seem to progress faster than anything, i love them! My upper body doesn’t love me, oh well with time! IN DUE TIME………..HURRY UP ALREADY!!! SO today i start anew for another upcoming competition in September. I’m 12 weeks out and started my cutting diet. SO far so good! Today is my rest day and tomorrow starts my new workout routine. I am really hoping that i can still get some muscle going and keep all if not most of what i currently have. Its going to be grueling with the diet, but i love the workouts! Crazy huh?? My husband is already trying to get into my food. I cooked up a bunch of chicken, turkey, tilapia, and sweet potatoes for the week. I don’t want to make room for mistakes when going out so i need to be prepared! No temptations! I also just ordered another one piece for this show and have a new 2 piece as well.

I have successfully reached my offseason goal weight of 135lbs and just got my body fat checked yesterday and i’m at 14.81% (only like almost 5% body fat increase since my first comp on 5/10/08)! I’m glad it wasn’t too high and i feel i’m going to be ahead of the game (does that mean my trainer will be nice with some extra cheats :D , kidding!) I’m shooting for 120-125lbs and about 10% body fat by the time comp time comes around!! Taking beginning progress pics tonight for myself, i will be too scared to post those…lol. The Krystals and doughnuts from last night might show up around my midsection….hehe.

I feel like Missy Piggy right about now! This is my last week before i start my 12 weeks out cutting diet. I just know that i will be hard core dieting so my reaction so far since the weekend is to eat a LOT! I have been eating up a storm! Too much of everything and no it wasn’t all clean! I hope i don’t wreck anything this week, today my sis and I went to freaking Golden Corral buffet and it was good! I didn’t care too much for the veggies neither, i was carb loading…OH THE GLUTTONY! HAHA! Ok seriously, no more buffets for awhile! The peanut M&Ms won’t stop calling my name neither! Just trying to get all these freaking cravings out of my system before i go back into dieting. I really need to get with it on the water too. I have been slacking on that lately. My fat ass is eating some spanish rice pudding right now, but hey its made with splenda…hehe, i know still not that good. Sandra, SELF CONTROL…SAY IT!
Now the workouts have been awesome since i’m actually eating pretty good. I can lift heavier and just have enough strength to really feel the burn! I can still see some crazy vascularity when i work out esecially when i do bicep and tricep work. I’m going to really miss my strength that i have now when i’m dieting down…oh my muscles! I am kind of looking forward to cutting though, i miss the leaner me and want to see my body change again…also my clothes are getting a bit on the snug end. I don’t like that! I mean don’t get me wrong, i know i got too small when i dieted down for my last comp, but i liked being a size 5/6 :D

Good day today. Workout was the bomb! I threw in some jump squats which i haven’t done in a LOOOONNNGG time! I am getting 12 weeks out diet and workouts next week so 1 more week of bulking. I will have to order a fat burner (almost out of Lipo 6) and thinking about reordering some Jet Fuel or try the Hot Rox that i hear so many are getting good results by. I will need my energy when i start doing cardio in the mornings at 12 weeks out.

Cardio on stair master before lifting - 10 mins

Chest/Tris

Incline preses - 55×4x10

Chest press machine - 40×3x10

decline presses - 45×3x10

pectoral machine - 30×3x10

cable chest presses - 20×3x10

Overhead presses - 40×3x10

bent over laterals - 20×3x10

straight bar press downs - 35×3x10

rope press downs - 30×3x10

v-bar press downs - 35×3x10

skull crushers - 30×3x10

Abs

decline crunches w/10 lb plate - 25 reps

decline crunches without plate - 25

obliques (using back ext stand) - 2×40

knee ups - 60 reps

Extra: jump squats - 20reps, rest 1 min, 20 reps, rest 1 min, 10reps, rest 1 min, 20 reps. (my quads were feeling the burn, will try with a weighted ball as i progress).

As always, finish with stretching. Upped my weights on some of the exercises, my upper body is weaker than the lower body. WORKING on that! Oh just to mention that i will have extra motivation as I’m entering a 12 week challenge during my comp prep. WOO HOO!

Alright, today i burned my legs! I think i could go heavier on some stuff. I did cardio on the stairmaster for 15 minutes so think that kinda wore me out :P Eating has been alright.

Here is my workout for today:

Light leg extension - 30×4x10

Lying hamstring curls - 15×3x8 then 20×4x10 (each leg)

Leg press - 160×4x10 (weaker today than usual)

Leg press (the laying down one) - 225×4x10
Seated leg extensions - 80×4x8

Lunges - 65 reps with 2 10lb dbs non stop

Seated calve raises - 230×4x10

Calve press (leg press machine) - 225×4x10

Squats (smith machine) - 105×3x10 (focused on going low, i was pooped at this point, i can usually squat much more than this, this was extra work on the legs)

Oh yeah!! My goal is to increase on the weight at least every 2 weeks.

todays tidbits…

How today went:

Eating wasn’t that great, probably not enough protein (i ran out of egg whites for me breakfast) and just wasn’t that hungry. I did have a good size slice of red velvet cake cause it was my husband’s 33rd birthday. Oh yeah, it was good! Now i got the guilt feeling. 1.5 weeks left of bulking and then the 12 weeks out diet commences!
My workout today:

9 minute warm up on the elliptical

Dumbbell laterals (side/front)-20/30 4×8 Upright rows - 30/40 4×8 (this needs to be increased next time) Cable crossovers - 20×4x10 DB shrugs - 50×4x10

Seated alternating db curls - 30×4x10 Standing barbell curls - 30×4x8 (bumping this up next time, they are getting easy) Preacher curls - 40×4x8

Abs  ab machine w/20 lbs resistance - 2×25  obliques (back extension machine) - 2×40  decline crunches - 1×25

It was funny, at the gym as i was doing my preacher curls, one of the guys comes by and pauses for a sec…then presses a bit on my biceps with a face of amazement. He was like wow girl you got a little something there! That made my day :)

Training hard in the gym, eating enough to bulk up the muscles so they can grow. I want the muscles to grow BADLY, especially in my upper body. I’m already up 16 lbs since my last competiton which i hear is pretty normal. My mind is starting to play tricks on me though with this bulking. I am feeling a bit on the fat side. I don’t like being in the 130s and feel at home in the 120s. I know it will be temporary though so i need to stay focused and think POSITIVELY throughout these last 2 weeks of bulking. Its not all clean, but i’m really trying. My trainer stated to go semi clean and she mentioned that on this time around she will throw in the carbs a bit earlier in the last weeks since she is getting to know my body. I’m wondering how my body will respond to the dieting this time around. I usually gain or lose pretty fast lately. Is it possible to gain a bit more muscle till my September show? I asked my trainer, she says probably not because my body is still recovering…hmmm. Thats kinda a downer! I have it in my mind that i am though. I’m lifting as heavy as i can and my upper body is really feeling it. Also a difference on this comp prep is that i will be using a local gym and not just working out at home. We will see :) Also i will have to find another one piece suit that will actually fit, the one i bought was more for someone weighing about 120-125 onstage. It was too big for me and the cut on the booty doesn’t flatter me at all.

I’m a FIGHTER!!

Well, i took the dreaded progress pics. I know i’m up in weight, but don’t look as bad as i thought i did. I look *healthier* and arms don’t look so scrawny. Bulking mode right now for another 2 weeks and then prepping for my comp in September. Currently I’m lifting heavy weights in the gym with very minimal cardio (just used as warmup before lifting) and eating semi clean per my trainers orders. I still got some bloated weird stomach stuff going on. That will go away soon. Hoping and praying i don’t come in as small this time! I needed some more weight on me and of course a bit more mass. I’m determined to work towards ALL of my goals! I don’t give up easily. So i didn’t win my last comp…so WHAT, i now have an idea of where i need to be at my next comp. The first comp is just to get your *feet* wet and to see what the judges look for. ROCK ON!
