I hope you are too…

yes, it does. I hurt my shoulder at work 3 weeks ago… a few days after that, I had 4 days off work, so I thought I just keep calm until after that and it will be fine… and it only got worse, starting with the 1st patient of the morning when I started again… anyway, the problem was getting bigger instead of less, even though I was not even lifting weight… so now, I’m getting it treated by a few of my colleagues, it’s getting better, but I still haven’t been able to work my upper body in over 3 weeks now, and it REALLY SUCKS!!! now that it doesn’t bother me during the night any more, I can run and workout legs, so it’s better than becoming fat on the couch, but I miss lifting weights really bad… I can’t wait to start again… patience patience patience… (I’ve never been good at that,,, I’m learning;b )

well, I am tired of hearing women complain about cellulite and gaining weight and not being able to do anything about it… I have always been a big girl… up to 18, I was 30lbs heavier than I am now, and I am still quite far from being lean. but it’s an every day challenge anyway, and it’s not fun all the time but I feel sooooooo much better now than I did with all that weight on my body, that the sacrifice is worth it… and I don’t think we can call that a sacrifice… crappy food only tastes good a few seconds, then it’s all gone and you can see the results of ingesting it consistently… so anyway, when I ask my overweight patients if they workout, they say, "oh, you know, I live in a house on 2 floors, so I have to do the stairs everyday, it’s a lot of working out…" or "oh, I do all the cleaning in the house, and it takes a lot of energy" or "I walk to work" or " I eat healthy, I have an apple a day" or " I don’t have breakfast so I can save up calories there" and so on and so on…. it really sucks because I want to encourage them to lose weight and workout and feel great, but when you start with that kind of thinking, you can’t go very far. since they come to me for advice, I want to give them the best, but I think they are usually not ready for "the truth", so I often make it softer and kinder,,, everyone has to start somewhere, and it’s never too late, but we have to realize that working out 3 times a week is not "a lot", it’s the minimum… how can I tell people, without cheating myself with saying things like "it’s great you bike to work 14 min a day" (which IS great if you are 97, or weigh way way way too much, but not for the average person) and without being bluntly straightforward?

Been confused lately… I know I have a problem with chocolate and being a vegetarian, it is a little more complicated to get enough protein in my diet, without eating the same thing everyday… but here is my problem. I have been into fitness and nutrition for a few years now, and always thought the 6-meal-a-day rule was a must to become fit and lean. A few weeks agao, I read a book called "Mastering Leptin", by Byron Richards. It is most interesting because it goes against everything I was sure to be true about eating healthy. At first I was very critical of what he was writing, but in the end, it all made sense in terms of hormones function, especially being in the medical field, I’ve had hours of studying on the subject… (not that I am a specialist in the field of hormones or anything, but I knew enough about it to get a sense of what I could believe or not…). So now, after a while of following somewhat the rules (timing of eating, and when to eat protein mostly), I haven’t lost any weight (haven’t been very strict), but I have a greater sense of peace when it comes to eating… before I was in constant war with myself about when to eat, when to stop, (and especially not being able to stop and then eat again 3-4 hrs later when I was not even hungry, and then again, not being able to stop…) so now, I feel a lot better about food, it really has changed my life. Now I need to make some adjustments in WHAT I eat, which is the real problem. But the freedom I got around food now is amazing. I just wonder if it is compatible with my workout regimen… (cardio 5-6 times a week, weight lifting 4 times a week…)
