Sorry, I’m getting ready for work and i gotta write this quick…. i have a problem… yes it seems as though i always do and it’s always related to the fact that i started out weight lifting, not knowing diddly squat about anything. well i am one of those girls who you would say is pear-shaped. and i HATE it!!! my body tends to store more fat in my legs and hips and BUTT. so its very easy to lose stomach fat but almost impossible to lose lower body fat. Well, i need to lose lower body fat and im not sure exactly how to do this. im afraid to try different glute exercises because i dont know which ones will make my butt bigger and which ones will tone it out. I know cardio helps a lot but i dont want to do too much so that i lose all gains im making in my glutes and they just turn to mush…. hahahha. well this is all i have time to write at the moment. suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

So, as most girls, I have a problem with my nutrition. But its not the problem of over-eating sweets. its the problem of not eating enough. I am so paranoid about gaining weight that I eat practically nothing. Now one would think that this would cause you to lose a lot of weight fast, however, this is not the case. I am remaining exactly the same, and I dont like this. You see, I found out that when you eat close to nothing your metabolism goes to rest mode and thats whats happened to me. I bought the most recent issue of ‘oxygen’ and they have an article about how to lose ten pounds in 21 days. i read through it and saw that they have you eating 6 meals a day, and theyre still warning you about hunger pains! so yesterday i tried this, i ate more and more often than i usually do. i was very nervous about gaining weight, but i weighed myself this morning and my weight had not changed! this means that eating more is not bad for you! i just need to kick start my metabolism again. the body is really such an amazing thing =]

So now that the semester has started up again (well its been going on for a month now) i find it hard to fit regular workouts into my days. I dont have as much money for gym memberships and i am tired, all the time! thats what i get for getting on average 4 hours of sleep a night…. i think i have found something helpful in this situation that will keep me shape until the semester is over and i can dedicate more time to the gym again.
dont laugh, but its an old school iron aerobic vhs! with susan harris! it doesnt sound like much, but this tape is very difficult! it uses dumbbells and leg weights, involving alot of weighted lunges, squats, plias, bridge work, leg raises, abs, shoulder work, tris, bis, chest…. everything! the only problem is that it doesnt have any back exercises, and i was very proud of my back, i dont want it to go away! but whats good about it is that i can see small changes in my thighs and glutes already after only doing this for a week and a half. the video is an hour long so i have to do it at certain times during the day when im sure i can fit it into my schedule. either that or do it at night after work, you can do it far after the gyms have closed for the night!
ill be posting my weight and progress pics of myself every week to see how good im doing on meeting my goals! 125 by graduation! which is mid-may!
good luck everyone and thanks for motivating me!

I have always had a lot of determination when it comes to working out and sticking to a plan. However, lately I seem to losing this motivation, it’s really frustrating. It might be because of school and work and how busy I have been these past three months, but that shouldn’t be an excuse. My diet has been very bad lately and I have gained a few pounds since summer ended. I am trying to get my motivation back and one way that I tried to do that was to write a new workout schedule. Maybe I was just getting bored with my old one? We will see how this one works out, I’m trying something new. I am doing every body part twice a week, one day of the week is heavy lifting and the other day is light lifting. I have read that this seems to work well, however I’m not sure because other people say that your muscles need at least five days to heal, excluding calves and abs. I have also re-done my cardio schedule as well. I plan on doing speed intervals two days a week, short runs (3-5 miles) three days a week and one long run (6-10miles) on saturdays. We will see what happens with that. I like being able to say that I am at the gym six days a week faithfully, however I am starting to see that it doesn’t matter how often you go to the gym or how long youre there, what matters is the amount of effort you put into your workouts. Making sure your form is right and staying focused on your goals, not letting your mind wander during your rests between sets. Also, no amount of time spend in a gym can make up for a bad diet decision, I need to make sure that I stay clean at least six days week. One way I thought of that would make this easier for me is to buy a large calender to hang in my bedroom or a small one to carry with me. I will mark on it the days that I eat a cheat meal, that way if I’m tempted to eat another one I can look at the calender and say to myself ‘you have already cheated this week, save this craving for next weekend’ or something along those lines. Also, I was thinking about taking a trip to Dicks Sporting Goods and buying myself a new pair of running shoes or workout clothes, that might be some added motivation as well.
I guess that’s all that I have to say for now, I think writing this all out has helped me a little as well, now it’s time for a run =]
