You should really be careful that you don’t get too manly-looking…PART 2

My last blog tells the story of a guy who interrupted my workout to "warn me" that I should really be careful that I don’t get too manly looking.  It was infuriating.  I know he was utterly wrong and out of line, but it affected me a little bit.  I started to question my workouts, my goals, and the progress I was making.  Do I really look like a man?  Can a woman be too muscular?  I want to be sculpted with sexy muscles, but I still want to be ultra feminine.
The answer to my question came last week.  I confided in a few guys at the gym, told them what happened and asked if he was right.  Was I on my way to manliness?  Am I honestly starting to look like a boy?  Not only did they answer with an emphatic "NO", they encouraged me to work harder.  They are constantly helping me in the gym now, making exercise suggestions to build more muscle, correcting my form, and pushing me to do more! I’m so thankful for them and for everyone out there who appreciates the beauty of a muscular, fit woman.

As for the dum dum who tried to shower me with his wisdom…well, he gave me triceps advice yesterday.  Go figure.

That dum dum is just that. Be happy that you have so many others that are supporting you in your bid for beautifully sculpted muscle! Listen to them not the dum dums of the world!

That douche*** likes his women Barbie-thin because most men have a fetish to be with women they can treat like little toys. Most men don’t care about true beauty.

It is impossible for a lean woman to look "mannish" without taking steroids. Period. You don’t have the hormone profile to look nonfeminine. Having full, developed muscles is optimum and always more attractive than flatness. Women are women, they shouldn’t have to try to look like little girls. With your great genetics any tissue you build will simply make you look better and better. that guy who "warned" you is a colossal jackass.

Can a woman be too muscular? In my opinion, yes. However, to achieve such an end requires a huge amount of planning and execution; genetic predisposition for mass, incredibly intense workouts, and more often than not, hormone doping. Getting huge is a very specific journey that you don’t just ‘accidentally’ get on.

You look fantastic, and retain every last one of your feminine curves. Don’t worry one bit.

You look fantastic and feminine. From a woman’s perspective I think being muscular is far superior to the jelly arms of most women, even really thin women who starve themselves. The experts and nutritionists call it "skinny fat" as there is no muscle tone. This is not you. You look good and keep it up. Healthy and fit is sexy and feminine and beautiful!

  5. Biopolis Says:

No darling, your female hormones will never allow you to become “she male”; you need to be over loading with testosterone to grow a 3rd leg. You most prob. hurt his big fat ego in someway? Women have to work hard to gain muscle, and then try keeping it during that time of month when your body is screaming estrogens.

  6. Making_A_Change Says:

Keep lifting and ignore the nay-sayers. I tell people if going from a size 14 to a 4 and having the option of wearing a short skirt, knit anything, or something backless with confidence is manly–then, I’ll just be that man.

  7. J Wes Says:

I fine that men that make those type of statements are usually jealous and fill insecure around the woman that they told the statement to. Women will only look manly if they take steriods, other than that, weights alone will not do it. I love to see a fit woman that lifts weights. The skinny cardio girls do not appeal to me, be a woman with a nice v-taper, great calves and solid legs in a nice fitted dress/ skirt - man, enough said :-)
Keep doing what you are doing. You look great. Take care

  8. Ilove2pump Says:

Keep doing what you’re doing. You look spectacular and nowhere near "manly". Why is it that so often those who extend themselves to make a comment are those who are the least knowledgeable/qualified to do so. The other day, I had a pathetically scrawny older gentleman, who looks like he hasn’t lifted a weight in his life, come over and try to give me instruction on doing squats! According to him, I should be practically touching my butt to the floor instead of the 90 degree angle I decline to?
I just smiled at him and said thanks for the information :)

  9. jmorgan87 Says:

Well, for starters you do not possess an adequate testosterone profile to put on enough mass to look big. So, what you need to do is lift as heavy as you can. Anyone who disagrees is a child.

  10. ArmySoldier1 Says:

Shoot girl…you do your thing! Have a great week!

  11. hbat464 Says:

    Everyone has there own opinion.
There is nothing wrong with a little bit of muscle on a woman, most women can not even get to that level.
So if you choose to be lean and firm, instead of soft, go for it.

  12. vmvbwozniak Says:

I can understand how that bothered you and how you still have it in the back of your mind. Now what you need to do is go stand in front of a mirror and all you’ll see is 100% woman. Beautiful Woman.

  13. bsto915 Says:

Perhaps he just finished a set and there was a lack of oxygen to his brain. Thats the only way I can see someone making a dumb A comment like that. Keep doing what you do. You look great!

  14. cogle9987 Says:

you should have told him that he obviously didn’t pay much attention in biology class because women don’t have enough testoterone in their body to honestly look like a man. He was just intimidated that a girl could show him up! Believe me, I work in a gym and there are so many guys that think that women should look/lift a certain way, i tell them to go to hell. You look great!

  15. Ed Says:

With a figure like yours, there’s no way you could be considered "manly". You’re sexy as hell and getting even more so with every work out, keep at it!

  16. crzyhorse Says:

Good for the guys you confid in. In all honesty, looking at your physique I doubt it would be possible for you to go overboard, that is without synthetic hormons. Your shape is as feminen as I’ve ever seen, your weight training is simplying bringing some definition and strength to an already incredible shape. Can’t go wrong there :)

  17. Anatomic Anna Says:

Gosh! I hate that comment… my best friend actually said that to me until I reeducated her! Everyone here is right… no way will you be too manly unless you start shooting up test! Wait until you’re 50 or 60 years old and still look as good as you were when you were 20. Keep it up! You’re doing great!

  18. rsan001 Says:

You are looking great! Keep up the hard workouts. You have all the right curves. Not manly looking at all.

  19. jmorgan87 Says:

You would actually look better if you did have man muscles and were 170 lbs. ripped than looking like a soft, undermuscled gradeschooler.
