I almost puked

I am not setting the gym on fire with my lifts but I am starting to get back on track and lifting heavy.  I thought I was going to lose my lunch on my last lift.  Afterwards I felt like I would die.  Now I feel better than I have in months, expect I am starving now.  I better get off of here and feed those my tiny muscles.

I hit my personal peak on weight today.  I met my goal about 12 weeks early.  I have got here before then hit a sort of wall.  I am training and eating smarter now though.  I am training hard but being careful not to go overboard. I think I have figured out what my most effective lifts are and also how to bring up my weak spots.  I have been eatign a LOT of clean food.  I think I will continue to bulk until the middle of May.  Then I might cut for 6-8 weeks.  I think what has helped this time around is the fact the my personal life is coming together.  I have pretty much cut out all the garbage like alcohol and found a healthy outlet.

Putting the pieces together

I’m feeling and looking better.  The new diet is making all the difference in the world.  I swear my muscles feel fuller.  I have more evergy and my workouts are getting better.  I need to up my water intake a bit to balance the increased fiber.  If I keep this up I will have no problem making my goal weight.  I wouldn’t be suprised if I surpass it by 5-10 pounds.  It won’t be all muscle but it’s a start.

My War on Skinny Day 6

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

It started out pretty good.  I had a killer leg workout (I’m feeling it today).  I am working on strengthening my back before I hit heavy deadlifts and squats again.  So to hit the quads I used the leg press.  I would much rather do squats but my back is still a little tender.  For the hamstrings I did Romanian Deadlifts.  These are still relatively new to me but I am starting to like them and getting up some weight.  After I worked out tried to eat too much, too fast and puked.  That kind of through the whole day off.  I wasn’t feeling too great to I went to bed but didn’t sleep real well.

Good and bad news

It turns out my back pain was probably not a pulled muscle at all. I had a kidney stone. Yesterday I had a sharp pain in my groin area. I had been having them recently but this was worse than usual. I went to the ER and they told me I had a kidney stone problem. I probably caused the problem too by taking a calcium supplement and not drinking enough fluids. I am grateful that I don’t have a back problem but that pain was unlike anything I had ever experienced. Someone told me that is the closest a guy can come to knowing what a woman goes through during childbirth. I have a new respect for all the mothers out there.

My War on Skinny-Day 3

The day went alright.  I slept in way too late which threw my day off.  I still made it to the gym to do abs and cardio.  I ate alright but once again I need to eat more.  I ate some garbage at the movies which upset my stomach a bit.  No more junkfood, that’s my goal.

My War on Skinny-Day 2

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Day 2 was still pretty good.  It was my first lower body workout since injuring my back a few weeks ago.  I kept it simple 5 sets each of one quad dominant and one hamstring dominant exerciese.  It felt good and my back actually feels better than before.  I didn’t eat enough though.  It will tke a few days to get used to the new diet.  I am keeping track of the meals I am missing and I will make them up throughout the week.  It will become a sort of inadvertant calorie cycling.  I also neglected to do flexibility stuff again.  I thought my girlfriend would be working at night so I planned on doing it before I crashed for the night.  She ended up getting the night off so I ended up hanging with her, pretty poor excuse.  Sunday is cardio day and then back to max effort upper body on Monday.

My War on Skinny-Day 1

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

Overall a very good start.  A pretty good workout and I followed my diet.  I also got plenty of rest.  I was a littel congested so my breathing was a little off.  I think I would have had an even better workout otherwise.  The only thing I ddin’t do was my flexibility work.  I have to keep that stuff up or I will end up injured again.

My War on Skinny

I decided to join the 2009 BodySpace Transformation Contest.  I have to admit I was pretty disgusted by my Before pics.  Over the next several weeks I am going to bust my hump and I know I will see a positive change.  I used to look like I lifted weights, now I am just blah.  I don’t like to lose and I don’t plan on starting now.  Wish me luck…
