As of today I will have some more options. Because I am not near a military base the Army is going to buy my a gym membership. I already had a contract at one place and they wouldn’t let me cancel or transfer, so I will have to gyms to choose from on a daily basis. The new place is smaller but still has a good spread. The owner is an IFBB fitness pro and they train a lot of the local BB competitors out of there. The best part is they have 24 hour access. The place I go to now has crappy weekend hours. When I have weekend training now it is almost impossible to get to the gym. The best part is that between the two gyms I will have pretty much every piece of equipment imaginable.

Today was my first day back after injuring my back. I did my best to minimize stress on the area. I had to cut a couple of lifts out but overall I still got a good workout. I am supposedto do an easy run tomorrow which shouldn’t do much damage. I am set to work lower body on Wed though. That will be the real test. I am going to stay away from squats for now as that seems to aggravate the area the most. Once I get some more flexibility I will ease back into them.

My back is feeling a lot better. I am going to head back to the gym in a few hours. I am picking exercises that I think will put little strain on my lower back. I feel like I have a ton of energy so I am going to have to be careful not to go too hard and risk hurting the area again. I am also ready to enjoy a last few days of calm before the post New Year’s rush starts. We all know that the gym will be packed for the next month or so. Might as well enjoy the peace while it lasts.

The back is feelign a lot better today. I spent all day yesterday traveling, which meant a lot of sitting. That didn’t help at all. I am fighting the urge to do something active. I purposely didn’t bring shoes or gym clothes so I could rest up. As long as I can rest up until Monday afternoon I think I will be just fine. I just need to remember to warm up and cool down properly. I also need to control my movements and increase my flexibiilty. These are the keys to keeping my healthy, which is a key to getting big.

I was on my way to the gym and that lingering pain in my back started to kick up again. Rather than limp through another workout I am going to taek the rest of the week off. No lifting, no cardio, nothing. I would rather start fresh next week. I am hoping that the injury heals in that time. I would hate to start the new year hobbled up. I usually get restless after a couple of days but I think the holiday will keep me distracted.

I looked at my schedule for the week and decided to switch around my workouts. I figure it will be hard to find an open gym on Thursday so I will make that a cardio day. That means I will be lifting the next on Tues and Wed. That made today a cardio day which is good because my workout would have been rushed today. I just jumped on my rowing machine and did about a half hour of intervals. I am pretty worked up now which works out great because I still have a a lot of cleaning to do before I head to bed.

I am totally recoverd after some rough workouts last week. I need to get back in the gym tonight but I am swamped. My apartment is always a wreck so my girlfriend has actually never been here. Part of my Christmas present to her is to get this place cleaned up. I have been busting my tail all day;cleaning, rearranging, and assembling furniture. It has left me pretty smoked but I am still going to make it to the gym in a while when the crowd thins out.

My legs were still pretty smoked so I took the day off from lifting and did cardio instead. I plan on hitting my legs tomorrow. I will be leaving for California Wed afternoon so I want to get some sort of workout in every day between now and then. I will only be there for a few days but I would still like to get a couple workouts in while I am there. I am getting into some good habits that I would like to carry over into the New Year so I don;t want to get sidetracked.

Tuesday’s workout didn’t feel too greaet but I am really feeling it now. My legs are sore as hell. My quads are about as sore as they have ever been. This has been my most consistent week in a couple of months so I think I am back on the right track. My diet is getting better and I am sleeping better. All in all, I think I should be ready to kick things into high gear in the new year. I will be going to a new gym which should help keep things fresh. My current has crappy hours on the weekend and I use that as justification to miss workouts. The new place 24 hour access so I have no excuses not to make it to the gym. The place is owned by a IFBB fitness pro so it should be well stocked. The Army is paying for the membership so I really can;t complain. I still have a contract at the old place so I can always go there if need be.

Today’s workout was a little better than earlier in the week. I probably could have done a littel more warming up. Overall I am pretty satisfied with the workout though. My girlfriend is working tonight so I’m going to take it easy and get some rest. I want to get a good lowerbody workout in tomorrow so I will need to be well rested.
