Sample Diet Day 4

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

BREAKFAST

12whole wheat English muffins

4 ts soft margarine

2 tbsp jam or preserves

2 medium grapefruits

2 hard-cooked eggs

1 unsweetened beverage

LUNCH

White bean-vegetable soup

2 1/2 cup chunky vegetable soup

1 cup white beans*

4 ounce breadstick

16 baby carrots

2 cups fat-free milk

DINNER

Rigatoni with meat sauce

2 cups rigatoni pasta (2 ounces dry)

1 cup tomato sauce tomato bits*

4 ounces extra lean cooked ground beef (sauteed in 2 tsp vegetable oil)

6 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Spinach salad

2 cups baby spinach leaves

1  cup tangerine slices

1 ounce chopped walnuts

6tsp sunflower oil and vinegar dressing

2 cups fat-free milk

SNACKS

2 cups low-fat fruited yogurt

Tuna fish sandwich

6 ounces tuna (packed in water,
drained)

1/2 cup shredded romaine lettuce
4 slices tomato
2 medium pear
2 cup fat-free milk
DINNER
Roasted chicken breast
6 ounces boneless skinless
chicken breast*
2 large baked sweetpotato
1 cup peas and onions
2 tsp soft magarine
2 ounce whole wheat dinner roll
2 tsp soft margarine
2 cup leafy greens salad
6 tsp sunflower oil and vinegar
dressing

2 tsp lime juice

DINNER

Spinach lasagna

2 cup lasagna noodles, cooked

(4 oz dry)

1 1/3  cup cooked spinach

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup tomato sauce tomato bits*

2 ounce part-skim mozzarella

cheese

2 ounce whole wheat dinner roll

2 cup fat-free milk

Roast beef sandwich

6 ounces lean roast beef

(in 2 tsp oil)

3 ounce part-skim mozzarella

cheese

2 tsp yellow mustard

1 1/2 cup baked potato wedges*

2 tbsp ketchup

DINNER

Stuffed broiled salmon

10 ounce salmon filet

2 ounce bread stuffing mix

2 tbsp diced celery

4 tsp canola oil

1 cup saffron (white) rice

2 ounce slivered almonds

1 cup steamed broccoli

2 tsp soft margarine

2 cup fat-free milk

Diet changes

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

I am scrapping all of my old diet BS.  Now I am just going for the best all around diet I can get.  Lots of carbs for energy and a good amount of nutrients for all around health.  I am still going  tp pack in the calories.  I will need tons of energy to fuelthe wokrouts which will be getting more intense now that I am healthy.

Not too bright

I had some NO Xplode sittign on my shelf so I decided to use some before my workout tonight.  It was my first workout after being sick for a while so I thought the edge would help.  I forgot about the caffiene.  It’s almost 230 in the morning and I am still wired.  Good thing i don’t have to work tomorrow.

A New Goal

By the time I was 22 I was a Veteran.  In my short time on this Earth I had seen things people two or three times my age only see through the blurry eye of the television.  When I came home I spent a year feeeling sorry for myself.  By my 23rd birthday I was in pretty sorry shape, maybe even the worst of my life.  I decided at that point that I would be in better shape each successive birthday.  For the most part I have succeeded.  But after my 26th birthday I went into a tailspin.  It’s a chicken or the egg type of thing.  I either got into a bad relationship because I was drinking too much or vice versa.  Around May or so I pulled myself out.  Once again I started getting back on track.  Then about 6 weeks ago I had a real run of bad luck.  I’ve had more injuries and bouts of illness in the this time period  than I have in the past few years combined.  I have lost 10 pounds just in the past week and a half.  Getting in my best shape ever by Nov 8 is not looking good.  My new goal is to get back in shape by the end of the year.  A sort of reverse New Year’s resolution.  Lots of lifting, lots of food and a ton of dedication. Be sure to check back in three months…

First day back

I have been sick for the last week or so and it had taken a toll on my body.  I am not sick anymore but I am still pretty drained.  My workout was pretty bad.  I don’t lift again until Friday so I should have time to recuperate by then if I treat my body right.  Lots of fluids and clean food and I should be as good as new in a few more days.

Feeling better

I am feeeling a lot better today.  I took the day off yesterday from working out.  I hydrated as much as possibel and got plenty of sleep.  I still have a littel congestion but overall I feel pretty decent.  By the end of the weekend it will porbably be out of my system.  This is pretty gross but a good way to tell if you have an infection is to look at your mucus.  When you have an infection it goes from clear to yellow and sometimes green.  Mine is clear again so it looks like my body is beating the infection down.  I’m off for the next week and some change so I have plenty of time to rest and recuperate.

Can’t shake it

I don’t know what’s going on but it seems like I have been sick more on the last month than the whole year before it.  Everytime I think I am feeling 100% I start feeling crappy again.  It really makes it hard to get consistency in my workouts.  If it keeps up I might have to go to the doc and see if there is something more serious going on.  The weather is a little crazy this time of year.  One night you need a jacket to stay warm, the next you are burning up in shorts and flip flops.  I wish it would just stay hot or stay cold.
