Ok, so since I’ve been lifting and trying to eat the right stuff… I’ve also been reading up in some books to help give perspective to everything…. Why we should eat this much, and why you should cut out this or that… And, in this process, I have (not meaning to) kinda broken the traditional "clean diet", and found myself eating some chips or sampling grandma’s banana cream pie (YUM!) This really sucks for me because I feel that I’ve given up on my new lifestyle, but at the same time, if I eat the things I’m craving (in moteration), I do fine, and don’t really over induldge. Not sure if this is a good track of thinking, or if I’m finally on the right track. I know that the above has all been said before, but will anyone ever get a straight answer as to if breaking a diet is the best thing. Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t… Maybe someone can reply and let me know?

So far, I have tried to focus on one thing at a time: 1. Cartio/clean diet (to lower weight) then 2. Work on muscle. Today was my first day in about a year that I even touched a weight. At my job, I’m lifting heavy objects, but nothing like lifting weights. Almost forgot what it was like, and how nice it is to feel your muscles ache the day afterwords. Today I could feel my pec muscles (even under my lowering layer of fat), which was awesome. Thats the motivation i need at this point. My abs were the same. Hopefully soon, I’ll start seeing some results.

So yea, I don’t know if I’m the only person to do this, but I find that after a long day of work, and I’m looking for a quick dinner, I tend to eat whatever is in sight, that will fill me up. I’ve found that putting portioned foods into containers makes dinner/snack time very easy. I label each container with the serving size/calories/fat content, etc. so that I can mix and match foods depending on how many grams of fat/protein/calories/etc I want or need. Does anyone else do this? I’ve noticed that I’m even coming under my allowed calories by doing this, and I don’t have to starve, which is nice.
Thinking back to the days (2 yrs. ago) when I hit the Atkins craze to go from 198 down to 150, I’m now realizing about how much easier it is to have controled, low cal/ low fat/low card diet, instead of feeling pressured into one food group. It’s nice. Though the Atkins melted weight eight off of me, I’m realizing that weight is being lost now, without a fad diet, and I’m eating the veggies and foods that are healthy for me.
