To Bike, Or Not To Bike

I’m trying to decide if I want to purchase a new bike as my current bike is a piece of crap that I pieced together from a couple of different bikes. I seldom ride now, but I think it’s simply because I am not comfortable on my current bike, and it is not mechanically sound.

I’m also thinking about participating in the Make A Wish Foundation’s 300 mile ride in late summer. That’s right, 300 miles… 100 miles a day. If I decide to committ myself to such an event, there’s no doubt I will have to get a new bike. I’ve been to a few bike shops and decided if I do buy a bike, i will be a mountain bike, but I’ll also buy an extra set of road tires so I’m not killing myself trying to pedal for miles on end with knobby tires. And, I’ll still have the knobby tires when I want to ride off road.

 Decisions, decisions.

I did great… for a week

I ate extremely clean for a work week, but didn’t do so well over the weekend. When I weighed in today, I was down 4 lbs. Not too shabby. Hopefully I’ll do better this coming weekend. Next week, I’ll be traveling for work, so I won’t be hitting the gym. Looks like body weight exercises in the hotel room. If the weather holds, I can always take a walk/hike after work.

Ok, ok… I’m addicted

It seems like all I think about is how I can improve myself. I’ve been finding myself going through profile after profile on BB.com thinking what it would be like to push myself to the point some of the members have. This week I found myself digging a little deeper, getting the extra rep in, adding a few pounds here and there. I changed my routine a bit as well, just so my body didn’t adjust and stop changing. I will be increasing my number of visits to the gym as well. I’ve said that before, but I have to stick to it this time. I’ve been going twice a week, with a 3rd visit thrown in every once in a while… but now i’m going to shoot for 4 days a week. I need a day to concentrate on my shoulders more.

 

I love this stuff!!

Feelin’ Good!!

I’m feeling great! Am I at my goals, nope… but I’m still feeling very good about myself. I’m hovering around 190lbs, up from 178lbs when I starting working out. I know for a fact I didn’t gain any fat mass. If anything, I lost some. So, I should’ve gained at least about 12 lbs of muscle. I don’t exactly have what you would call a large frame, so 12lbs of mass is HUGE on me.

I can’t wait to post progress pics, it’s just a pain to take them myself and have them in focus. But, I should have some up in about two weeks. Maybe this summer I won’t be afraid to take my shirt off at the beach, or on the boat. I can deal with a little fat around my belly if my arms/chest/shoulders look good… but I’m hoping to zap some of that too.
